Interesting mod; I replaced the coils on my old FG flippers (and did some other general maintenance) and now have enough power on my repro clearcoated playfield; it would be interesting to see how replacing the lower two flipper mechs would feel.
I can see the upper flipper mech just being overkill; a reasonable middle ground if you are going for new mechs may be WPC the lower flippers, keep it simple on the upper flipper?
Also, possibly stupid question but I have never seen it asked: can you add capacitors (e.g. the big yellow ones) to bally flipper mechs?
And FWIW my bally FG flipper experience was taking s super project game and making it almost a rat rod restoration. "new" playfield, but everything else seemed like an endless money pit if I was trying to make it "perfect". So I cheaped out on the flippers and realized "yes, I should have invested in new mechs there".
You live, you learn. I have a project sorcerer I finally brought to life this weekend and had replacement coils ready to go since I figured the large black capacitors and wiring hacks to feed to them should go. However in my test games so far things are surprisingly okay. Still, nice to get the flippers sorted before I do a playfield swap on that game.
