An out of state buyer (I'm in WI, he's in PA) wants to buy my T2, and he wants it shipped. I looked over the stuff at Fastenal.com/3PL. Basically, you have to strap your pin on a pallet. If you want it insured, it must be crated. Reading about some of the shipping disasters and seeing photos of forklift forks piercing the pin cabinet, I wouldn't dream of shipping a pin without it being insured. Buyer agrees.
So, my understanding is one must get a pallet and secure the pin to it. In the real world, it probably works like this.
get pallet and put in on your pickup or trailer
place pin on pallet, drop the head and secure
build crate around pin
take to local Fastenal location where they unload from your truck/trailer
Hope the seller gets it in the condition it left your truck/trailer
I'm guessing that the best way to secure the pin to the pallet is by blocking, making certain to do so in a manner that doesn't roach the cabinet paint. I'm thinking a moving blanket over the pin should protect the cabinet/finish.
Any other hints?
