Just had a quick question for you guys, has anyone rented out pins from the collection to local businesses? I feel myself keep wanting and wanting to buy more pins, however I am running out of room and my family might kill me if I try to squeeze another one in. So I figured, why not rent a couple out to some local pizza shops etc... I just don't have the heart yet to sell any of them, so if I could make a small amount of money off of these things AND make room for more, I'm in!

Has anyone done this? Do you charge by the month or just split the coins with the business? I was thinking about just offering a pin or two to a business, I would fix/check up on it/them regularly in exchange for a small profit and getting it out of my house for a bit. Maybe even switching the games out every so often.

I own mostly only EM's but one SS. I was just thinking I would swap out the bulbs for LED's so I wouldn't need to worry as much about the EM's being left on all day every day.

    Thoughts? Experience?

If you don't mind them being used as a coaster.

That has gone through my mind.

    Quoted from APOLLO_13:

Not sure how it is in ME but you might have to get tax stamps and all that to be able to put them in a business...

Yeah I'm not sure, I've got to ask around.

    Quoted from NY2Colorado:

Why not rent them to a local
person....someone who can't afford tron...but could afford $100 a week or whatever it is.

I had thought about that, I just wasn't too sure if people would want to rent older EM's like the ones I have to offer. If it was sitting in the corner of a local popular pizza joint, it would get some use and the business might be more apt to having in their business? Thanks for the input thus far guys!

    Quoted from SchertzPinball:

Just find a trustworthy friend who has space to "store" them for you. I have 9 pins "stored" at 3 different friends houses.
Some day I will have a place big enough to have all of them together.

That's not a bad thought. Yeah, I'm trying to find a bigger space to keep them all together. I guess the big thought I had regarding renting them out is letting people have the chance to play some pinball locally again. And if I make a few quarters in the process, that's awesome too!

Not to be a debbie downer, but I just don't see anyone wanting to rent an EM game. Especially when many in decent shape can be bought for $500 or far less.
An yes, many people do this. Some do a 50/50 split on quarters for on route. Some rent to businesses on free play for the lunch room for a fixed monthly cost.

I agree. Yeah I had my doubts for sure. Thanks for the input!
