    Half the games I own didn't have head bolts when I got them. PinBot didn't even have a latch, just a bungee going over the topper and down the back. No signs that any of them ever fell.
    However, bolts are cheap insurance and they all have them now.

    Never seen a head fall, but am way too attached to my pins to risk no bolts. They are cheap and take no effort to install and provide priceless peace of mind.
    If I had a situation where I was constantly needing to fold down a head I would come up with a more secure quick release system or at least strengthen the original latch. DataEast had a pretty secure system.
