I have a TZ with what I believe is a 10 channel opto board damaged. One side of the board is working, the other isn’t. Makes me believe it’s the IC LM339. I don’t do board work unfortunately so I figured if someone locally could, I’d drop it off

80$ for new one. Dunno how much people will charge for repairs probably at least 1/2 that to make it worth their while. Once you get a new one you can practice replacing an IC on the old one, to have a spare/sell.

I ended up buying one off of pinball life...hopefully this fixes my issue

That board is only compatible with the very early Twilight Zone machines (I think prototypes and samples). The ones built with the 3rd magnet. Coyote would know for sure.

I hope you bought the one that is compatible with your game. The odds are heavily in favor of https://www.pinballlife.com/10-opto-replacement-board-for-twilight-zone-a-16807.html being the correct board.

You can remove the old LM339 by cutting each of the legs, removing the body and then using needle nose pliers to remove the individual legs. Clean each hole out using your favorite method (solder wick, vacuum desoldering tool or the "slam" method) and then install a socket. Little to no risk of board damage.

That’s what I’m doing!! Might as well make a spare board! One more to go. I’ll install sockets this time on the new board
