Has anyone built a 2 X 4 tee that you put under the back part of the cabinet to hold it up while putting legs on or taking them off. If so, do you have any specs for it? I have a long piece 2 x 4. What height to cut it? Is it the same as the height with the legs on? I want to get it right the first time, thanks.

I don't expect there is a single answer. I'd expect the vertical to be longer than any leg you are working with..and the horizontal wider than any machine.

Lift the end of the pin and wedge this under while you are attaching/removing the legs. Thus the legs dangle.

Although if I was doing this I would steal this design.

I like the stability of the box... probably overkill but I only have one lower back, left foot, left knee, left hand... the reason I focus on the left side, is because I'm right handed and that one inevitably would be gripped to the side of the fallen machine wondering "what happened?".

Best of luck,

If I remember right, I cut a 2x4 into three equal pieces, nailed two of them together, cut the 3rd one in half, then nailed each piece to the ends of the two longer pieces. The wood brace is tall enough for anything up to 31" legs and 3" leg levelers that are fully extended

Another approach I've seen is to use a folding sawhorse instead of the wood brace, since it's more stable and less likely to shift and fall.

I really only use the wood brace when it's impractical to use a lift cart.

I usually use 2 milk cases and 1 ,2 or 3 2x4 blocks on the flat depending on the height.
I use the lift cart mostly but from time to time sliding in and out of the van or off the pick up I use the above.
Machine height and truck height varies.

Been collecting for 6 years and I just made one last weekend. I am still wondering what others do if you are alone to set one up?
For instance, if the machine is vertical (folded up) I can easily add the front legs, then tilt machine forward ... but how do you all add the brace under rear when you are alone?
Anyway, the brace works fantastic once you get the machine lifted.

Note the extra 7" 2×4s alongside the 4x4 ... I added these to give another place to add 2 more screw's on each side so that base 2x4 can withstand more torque. I used it first on WOZ and it worked brilliantly and very stable.

One benefit of this design is there are no screw heads that can contact the floor (or the game bottom if you care)

4x4 and 2x4 construction, screw's are exterior torx head 3"

I use one of these when I set up or tear down machines: https://www.target.com/p/folding-vinyl-counter-stool-black-plastic-dev-group-174/-/A-51098071 .

It is quite stable, very lightweight, only ten bucks, and collapses small enough to stick behind the door to my work room.

Quoted from MT45:

Just heft it up - one arm under each corner and lift with your legs. The weight transfers to the front legs as you lift. Hold it with your hip and one hand while you grab the stool... this is where the stool's stability comes in handy.

Yep, or stacked empty cat litter pails or 5-gallon buckets work well.

I like this one with countersunk screws though. I built something similar...25" high assembled.
