I'm undecided for which SW version to buy, is the hyperloop super important to the game?

Also does the premium take a lot of work to get dialed in? I mean is it hard to adjust the fork ramp or does the HL sometimes not work properly?

Thanks, I am buying one shortly and like to hear if the premium is the way to go. I have played both versions but only on location and didn't think the pro was playing strong so might have got a bad impression.

No, the hyperloop is not super important, but it's fun to have balls whizz around on it. And metal ramps are always nice. If you can afford it, I would still say go premium and don't look back.

Preimum all the way

I like the metal apron, Falcon model and Death Star toy but the main reason for me would be the Hyper Loop!

There is nothing wrong w/ the pro, but the hyper-loop is simply fantastic. Watching the 3 or 4 balls spiraling around that loop at 90mph is a thrill every time. When someone sees it for the first time it's jaw dropping. It's the only machine that I have ever had in the premium version & it's well worth it.

On the other hand, you could essentially have the same gameplay w/ the pro minus the hyper-loop thrill. If you go pro, save the extra $ towards a JP3. Sorry to confuse you even further.

Yes, it *is* cool, but at the same time it is so under utilized. There's a BIG toy that circles the entire playfield and yet it's only real purpose is at the start of one multiball mode to increase a jackpot value. I really wanted it to do more in the rules.

Ok that makes sense (like it should be more utilized) for example the hammer in Met premium is just a lock mechanism and the pro does with a virtual lock. Sure the hammer is cool but it's not essential to the core of the game ( I mean game can be great without).

It's muddled to me because I am into light show and looks like the pro has the same light show. However pinball machines are partly wow factor the hyper loop is better than sat the Woz monkey for example. Hyper loop is about the coolest toy and makes SW less barren.

this week am going to try to play both pro and premium (on location) to decide.

If money is not a problem I would say get the premium hyperloop is cool looking and fun.

I don’t think it’s underutilized one bit. They use it just enough to keep you coming back. It’s used for all the hyperspace hurry ups, hyperspace multiball, 2 destroy the death star modes, and probably one or 2 other things I might be missing? There’s a fine balance of use for beginners (very first hyperspace hurry up) and just enough for advanced players to keep coming buck (lucrative peek moments + difficult shot rating).

That all said, I’m still torn between pro v prem - as much as I enjoy the hyperspace/destroy the Death Star shot and the metal ramps; I’m not entirely sold on the Death Star catch and release mechanism, or the inner loop cock block shot when the ramp is up, or the missing drop target post to add even more cheap drains to the game.

Supposedly there is a mod to add the extra post without drilling into PF.

Pro is way easier than the premium because of no hyperloop; the hyperloop shot is hard to hit because the ball needs to square up with the right velocity...I would recommend the premium; light show is amazing...But the game is just too hard in the end overall and you will probably sell it...

#12 4 years ago

I bought a Pro and upgraded to a Premium. Hyperloop and exploding DS are totally worth it for me. Blowing up the Death Star on a Pro is a bit strange since it only happens on the screen and not the playfield. A bonus for me is that the Premium plastics are the bad guys (empire) and the cabinet is mostly ESB, my favorite movie. Pro plastics are the rebels.

As I and others have said, the Premium is a harder game, but I like that. Not just because of the Death Star ramp shot, but also because the Pro has two posts on either side of the drop targets. Wouldn't want to battle the Emperor too often anyways.

IMPORTANT: On a properly setup Premium (6.5 pitch, level) you should be able to backhand the Death Star with a clean shot. Without this, it can become frustrating. Learn where that shot is.

I like harder games anyway.

Played an LE every week at work for a year. Compared it to the one at Crabtown. I personally prefer the Pro. I don't like the deathstar shot on the Premium/LE as it is too difficult. You have to be lined up perfectly. The Hyperloop is cool.

Honestly, I don't see that much difference between the two. I don't think the premium is worth the extra money. If you have the funds, I'd honestly pick based off of art package on this one. Both games are fantastic and I think they'd hold up really well in the home environment.

Update. I played pro again and premium two different ones again. Decided to buy the Comic Premium.

I have more plays on the premium but specifically concentrated on the Death Star / Hyper loop shot.

the pro is noticeably smoother on the DS loop shot but the premium was not that bad. I found the actual DS/HL jump ramp not that bad. Not the easiest shot but not too difficult even was able to backhand.

What I did feel was the metal ramps are very satisfying. Not saying the plastic are bad but the metal just adds a bit of heft that is sorely missing from a lot of newer games. Also the actual Hyper Loop is one of the f-n coolest thing in pinball ever.

I’m talking top 10 best toy ever and hitting the HL is up there with hitting the ring shot in Lotr. Imo

I went pro, but honestly I think I'll eventually move to a premium, mainly because I think this will be a long term keeper. Tough to find people to do a trade down on this one.

I hope keeper for me. I love the depth and tough gameplay. Reminds me of TWD in brutal play.

I wanted the pro comic cabinet art space ship battle but premium features. If they ever do that I might be trading up for one.

I’m super picky now, running out of room due to keeping too many. So each next pin is harder to decide.

I have been fortunate to have played all of the newer games (save Octoberfest). SW premium is the most fun and I think under rated don’t know why.

I'm not one for saying "fake news" ever but this fucking narrative that people invented with the "math rules" and the game being too hard to understand was just was completely weird ass thing.

Will your next buying advice thread be "Should I buy the SW topper?"

Also people said it was empty no toys but Tie fighter on a spring. What about hyper loop and Death Star that more toys than Maiden or DP combined.

Yes I remember when their childhood was ruined It was a little aggravating, but you can only try to lead a whore to water so many times.

"Buh buh obviously the force should have magnets...and um why not have a lightsaber on the game WTF."
Literally they were trying to turn it into the powerhouse that SWe1 was...so weird.

Game is fantastic, and I am glad more people are finally realizing it. This often happens near the end of a production run. Wonder if Stern extended beyond the usual 3 years, which would end mid 2020.

Because the code is much more mature after year 2 on Stern games.

What’s street price on stern premiums these days? Specifically SW PREM comic.
