My dad had a big collection back in the 70s when it was a thing. I remember the Old Frothingslosh. There were maybe a dozen different versions of that one. I remember digging around old dumps and finding old steel beer cans that still had the cone tops.
I’ve got a nice beer can collection under my trailer. Mostly Budweiser. Some dating back to the 80’s.
I have a Iron City maybe (Pittsburgh located) with Roberto Clemente's picture and bio on it from 1994. Not sure if it has any value but that's the only can I ever collected, got it at the 1994 All Star game. I do have a barrel shaped green glass one that says Mickeys on it.
I have about 300 or so cans that I collected in the 70's. They have been in boxes for decades. First $100 takes them.
Yep, when I was a teen. We used to go crawl around in the recycling dumpsters at apartments and townhouse developments and pick through the smelly, foamy mess to find rarer cans and bottles. And then later came ebay where you could buy a bundle of several dozen older and rarer cans for 20 bucks. Beat crawling around in dumpsters. :p
We have a Beer Can House here in Houston.

My dad had a huge collection. I'm not quite sure how many there were, but they lined the walls of his wood shop. It was in the 1000s. When we traveled to other countries he would always have us pack cans in our extra shoes on the way back. He included the collection when they sold their house a few years back.
It was a BIG thing in the 70’s. Started for me in 5th grade in 1975. Grew up in a college town and I would ride my bike all over town to dumpster dive behind all the bars downtown, campus dorms and frat houses especially on Sunday mornings. This was before recycling took hold so they were EVERYWHERE...in bushes, ditches out in the country, old Farm landfills. Got poison ivy many times while crawling through over-grown sides of the road. Still have some of the books that were published and was a member of the World Wide Beer Can Collectors WWBCC. There were Can-ventions by the BCCA but my parents wouldn’t think of going. I even talked my mom into buying me beer at the store numerous time to get all the Schmidt outdoor scene cans. Think I had over 1,000 and sold them for about $ 120 in the mid 80’s.
Oh yeah, back in my college days. Just for grins, not real serious about
it. Had well over 100 which I passed on to a friend when I graduated.

Those Brickskellers are cool. I have never seen those.
I enjoyed collecting cans back in the 70's, I often convinced my dad to buy odd brands of beer while on family vacations. All along I thought he was doing it just for me. When we cleaned out my mom's house a few years back I kept a few dozen of the neatest cans.
A few weeks ago my neighbor's widow had set out on the curb some bicentennial editions and Billy beer cans. I couldn't resist picking them up.
I was pretty young in the 70s so I missed the heyday of can collecting. I remember seeing a few collections back then and thinking they were cool. Retired Pinsider Dirtflipper has an amazing collection of cone top and flat top cans. He inspired me to pick them up when I see them affordably. You can spend a lot of money on certain cones. Here are a few I've grabbed in the last couple years.

I had a collection of about 350 back in the 70s. My dad enjoyed it as much as I did cause he got to sample a lot of regional beers. I gave about 300 of them to a hole in the wall restaurant back in the early 1990s but kept about 50. When I look at the pictures above, I'm surprised at how many of them I had (except the cone tops). Got Miss Frothingslosh to sign a can at a Can-vention.
