While on the Stern tour during Expo, I noticed they had a Black Spider-Man in the lineup of games at the beginning of the tour. I soon realized it was running Spider-Man VE code. My first thought was that maybe they were just using a BSM cabinet and it actually had a VE playfield installed in it, but that was not the case. It was an original model Spider-Man playfield in the game.
It made me wonder why or how they did this? Did they make a special version of the VE code to work on the original models or was it the VE code simply made without the lockout that prevents the rest of us original Spider-Man owners from running it on our games. I also wondered since the VE doesn't have the Green Goblin coil if the VE software was running with the only negative being the original Green Goblin didn't bobble any more when hit.
Anyway....I really wish I could get a copy of Spider-Man VE code to run on MY Black Spider-Man. If that means my Green Goblin doesn't bobble...that would still be OK. It would just be nice to be able to play my game for a bit and check out the new and different VE sounds, callouts and dots.
I haven't checked out the SM:VE code in pinball browser, but I would imagine swapping the original code to VE code would be an incredible pain.
