Electric Uni Cyle - Lots of fun but at 55 years old, I find I don't heal so fast after a crash.

I started on a $1300 KS 16S that goes 23mph top speed & has a 30 mile range per charge.
The beeps heard in this video are telling the rider that you're maxed out. The faster the beeps, the closer you are to a "cut out"... which is when wheel goes dead because it can't go any faster and the rider is trying to push it to go faster and then you faceplant at 23mph. Not face-planting at max speed is called "riding the beeps".

That speed quickly got boring so I bought a $3000 Gotway EXN which will go about 50mph and gets about 60 miles on a charge. I crashed in sept 21 at 35mph and messed myself up pretty good. I've since slowed down a bit.

    Quoted from tscottn:

I started on a Segway s2, then outgrew it fast and bought a Inmotion V8 ( came with a VS5 as a package deal) , then outgrew the V8 and purchased a KS18 XL. Love the XL. I'm 54 so I don't ride super fast but I wanted the range that the XL offered at the time. The speed is nice but like you said, at this age we don't heal as easily. Taught my niece and older daughter to ride and we used to go on rides when they would come over. I have since moved to TX and haven't ridden in about a year but I really need to get back to it. I'm waiting for my nephew to be just another year older and I'm going to start teaching him to ride the VS5 as a learner, then move him up to the V8 which should be good for him for awhile. I like the new models now with shocks and better performance but I think my interest has waned a bit since I don't have any riding buds.
Also, as far as "riding the beeps go" that's not for me, even though my XL will do over 30mph ( this doesn't seem fast to people who don't ride a EUC but when you have one wheel under you its crazy fast) I like to just cruise at a nice leisurely pace and take in the scenery and awe at the fact that I have one wheel under me taking me wherever I want to go. I don't think I ever heard my XL beep at me.. haha.

the 18 XL is a great wheel. after the 16s, I borrowed a friend's 18xl and used it for a month until I bought my exn.

I wanted a wheel that I would never hear the beeps from and so far I'm good
