Wait, hold on!!! Are you trying to tell me that Stern is making a TMNT pin??? As if one wasn't enough?
    John

OMG, it is TRUE!! I just seen pictures of it.....UGH!! I think I'm going to puke. Glad to know that Stern is looking out for my best interest once again by making sure that my money stays in my pocket. Thank you Stern!

It’s simple if Stern doesn’t want the pics out yet they should not be out. Desire to see the machine early doesn’t make it any less wrong to leak photos.

It’s not “Sterns fault” a photo gets leaked try running a large company and see how long you could keep a 300lb box a secret.

Undoubtedly this creates a hardship for someone or many at the company. Maybe licensing, maybe the legal team, maybe the person who has to hunt all these photos down online.

Think about how your actions affect others not just your wants......and yes I realize this probably isn’t a popular opinion, but companies Like Stern are full of regular people just doing a job like you and me.

That is a very valid point and well said.

I guess I use Spooky as an example. I understand that they are a smaller company but if memory serves they have not had issues with leaks. Those in the know keep things quiet. Maybe the keep the circle smaller so there are no issues.

I guess what I’m saying is there is a way to control the narrative if that is yout ultimate goal and I also think it’s silly to think that in this day and age of social media and all the different platforms that if you don’t keep things super tight it will be out there in an instant.

It absolutely is. They are the ones that provided the photos. It's their blunder. It happens every single release.

    Quoted from Luckydogg420:

What if Facebook handed that info over to revenue Canada and you were suddenly taxed on all those big ticket sales? Your cool with that too? Like if you make $10k in a year through buying and selling you should claim that. Right.

Not even a little bit worried about that. Life is to short to live in fear.

    #106 3 years ago

All for TMNT pics. So dumb. Who cares!!!

    #107 3 years ago

This still hasn't been explained why this is a TOS violation for FB?!
Not stolen property; they released a damn video on the internet a week ago.

    Quoted from Zitt:

It was for sharing the playfield photos on the day BEFORE it was announced a week ago. They were all over FB that day.

    Quoted from Vino:

I agree. But Facebook allows comments regarding riots from John Borg who recently posted:
“send them to gated communities to go after the bankers”
    Odd rules indeed.

Borg was promoting violence on FB?

I’m confused, did he mean send the rioters to the bankers house who bailed Stern out and gave him a job? Those guys?

    FB drama

He posted a comedian’s routine and the snowflakes got triggered. He had to explain to those triggered that he doesn’t really want to kill bankers.

I can only imagine the crazy shit that graces ice’s Facebook page

Probably makes killing bankers seem like summer camp.

Yeah not so much Levi. No FB for me

Whaaaammbulance... Apparently they did catch it.
Don't share photos... don't risk release.
You think Apple didn't put the breaks on photo/engineers carrying prototypes because of these leaks?

Loose lips sink ships... if you don't want it released; don't provide proof.
The reality is that someone (let's call them a distributor) is sharing photos. Stern needs to stay media blackout until the day of release given the level of butthurt them seem to be having over this.

    Quoted from DakotaMike:

To everyone saying that you're better off without Facebook. Just remember one thing, FB Marketplace is a great place to buy and sell pins. That's the only reason I became active on FB again, is because a lot of sellers only use FB, or use FB first to sell things. And it's nice, because on FB it's easier to determine if a buyer or seller is a real person. Just something to bear in mind.

this is true. I used to only be on facebook to share photos of my kid with family, but now that she's older I posted way less because she can choose what she wants to share instead.
But in the last 2 years I joined like 15 different coinop + pinball groups because some of the deals you can find are just amazing.

FFS, just send the leaked pics quietly to your friends like the rest of us and don't blow up the party.

Apparently nobody knew about what Deadflip posted on his Instagram story last night.
He posted pictures and a short video of him playing the boring new “black label” reskin Heavy Metal.
He said he was fired from Stern over it, and Gary Stern himself said “whoa there, pump the brakes!”

So obviously Stern is entering a new chapter where leaks will NOT be tolerated.
Interesting to see how this goes for them.

As mentioned earlier, Apple, Google, Samsung and all the big tech companies actually embrace and use carefully orchestrated “leaks” as just early PR announcements to generate consistent interest for a launch months in advance!

Wow, that’s big news and it’s pretty incredible it went under the radar here.

Zach is going to be doing cartwheels I’m sure he will slide right in to the role.

    #118 3 years ago

Sorry busy working yesterday, but yes what was posted was even on TWIP. Those were the pics I posted. Twip took them down, I assume per request from stern.

My co-host, Steve, and I had our “personal” fb accounts restored. But the podcast page is still down/unpublished. Steve did not share any leaked info himself, so I am 99% sure this is from stern not liking my share and our podcast share, of the pics. This lead to the ban of our podcast page which we both admin so both our accounts banned. Steve has requested a reason but we have not heard back from FB.

Hmmm. Seems like something worth verifying perhaps. I am pretty sure he has said multiple times he is not employed by Stern?

You do realize Jack was joking, right?

    #121 3 years ago

FWIW: he responded to it on his facebook page.

If deadflip is "fired" before Zach / Flip N Out is "fired", it'll be a travesty.

It was late when I posted so sorry if it wasn’t terribly clear!

If it was a joke, why would he mention being fired at all? Obviously someone at Stern is dropping hammers. I forgot the name of who he said it was.

Doesn’t Jack do the promos for them? I assumed that when he said “fired” in his status, he meant they were pretty serious about not leaking videos ahead of planned releases. Obviously he works very closely with Stern and they were pretty unhappy with all the latest leaks but with his relationship it was more easily forgiven.

I’m not some wild speculating podcaster!

I apologize if my post was misleading or misunderstood by any. I merely reported his story and I assumed folks would read between the lines.

If there was no sort of disciplinary action or disapproval for leaking the photos then why even joke about it? Especially given that we know people ARE getting in trouble for it?

    #124 3 years ago
    Quoted from Spelunk71:

Wow. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. How could it possibly be good for Stern to target its small base of super fans who are just excited about their products and posting stuff that’s already out there?

Cause they know we won't do dick!....except buy the next toy and overpriced topper....

I have the same question as Zitt.
Why is Facebook enforcing Stern's rules about early photos?
    They are two separate companies.
Can ANY company get Facebook to ban people for them?

    #127 3 years ago

Or...I dunno....STERN? Since they're probably the one that reported it and requested the action?

    Quoted from skink91:

One does not have to be an employee to be fired. Independent contractors can be fired, just like employees can be.

I am sure that means the rumor is not true, though the responders seem to not understand the above.

Jack "accidentally" leaked photos of the Heavy Metal color changing paint on the lock down bar. He was "fired" but Gary Stern "vetoed" that decision. It's all a joke. Those of you actually banned can decide if you are offended by it or not.

Given the other nonsense allowed on FB it doesn’t even sound plausible Stern could get pages banned. Don’t you think banning would be routine for anyone with any remotely controversial content?

Get your own website and put up whatever your hosting contract allows.

So, you think that Facebook is monitoring the pinball community closely enough to know what is or isn't leaked pictures, and just took it upon themselves to provide enforcement for something that's none of their concern?

    Okay.

Sure it does. How else would these accounts be close after a threat from "he-went-to-Jared"?
Stern somehow thought they had a right... and for some screwy reason FB agreed... or thought it would be eaiser to ban these accounts rather than deal with Stern's legal threat. Occams razor, Sir.
