I am baffled by this switch. I understand the "rev" which flips the stereo signal from left to right, but I don't think the knob is working correctly. When I switch to normal, I get a lot of bass from one speaker and tweeter in the other speaker. Switching to the other modes seem to work as it should. Any insight on the purpose of this dial and if it's working properly? It's a Pioneer SX-6000.

Betting it is just a crusty old pot that needs cleaning.
I will do that. I also have a cap kit on the way so I will get it fixed either way.
Quoted from beergut666:Um, wut? Every manual deck I have plays 45s. Also, seeing records stacked on a changer makes me cringe. To each their own.
Don't look...
20230114_165116 (resized).jpgQuoted from snakesnsparklers:Decided to re-cap the Sanyo which sounded great because I can't just leave well enough alone. Could've spent about $25 but I spent closer to $50 to get mostly "audio grade" caps with fancy gold labels which I'm pretty sure aren't much if any better than the regular caps . I figured why not, I'm probably only going to do this once so just get the fancy stuff. I have it 90% done and am just waiting on the large filter caps to do the power supply board, but the phono pcb, tuner pcb, and tone pcbs are done and it does sound better. Picks up more radio stations now too. And to finish it off a picture of the current album I'm listening to, which is the only Tool record I can afford Why does Tool vinyl have to be so expensive???

I just finished the process myself. Like an idiot I did not test any of the new caps before I installed them all. Turned on the receiver and it sounded like crap. So I had to go through every cap to see which one was bad. Took an entire day.
20230114_173921 (resized).jpgQuoted from snakesnsparklers:Yikes! To be honest I didn't test any of mine either because I don't have any way to measure ESR or capacitance so maybe I got lucky. So you had some faulty brand new capacitors that weren't at the rated capacitance?
Just one. It was a 2.2uf 100v on the mpx board. I had to put the original back in. I thought I put it in wrong but no, it was just bad.
Now that it is done, I can definitely hear a difference in sound quality. I was skeptical I wouldn't notice, but it was worth the money. I can clearly hear the differences in my cartridges where before I couldn't.
Quoted from Methos:It was an opportunity wasted - mostly by Roddenberry. Should have been sooooo much better.
I was 10 when I saw it and I knew it was a dud way back then. Kinda of like Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
What are you talking about, Temple of Doom was awesome!
Quoted from ParkRangerPinball:anything good?
I kept about 300 albums. Mostly 60s and 70s rock.
Beatles, Cat Stevens, Jethro Tull, Zeppelin, and some Fleetwood Mac. Nothing ultra rare but a lot of original releases. Too bad none of the covers were taken care of. Most smell of basement and cat pee.
