Alright let's get this back to being somewhat pinball related

That's freakin awesome...I still have that album from back then. I can't believe I never thought of putting by my Freddy pin!

Down in the boiler room.....

A bit more of a stretch

Gotta love that LP art!!
And the pin art
Always loved the art and color on that pin.

Both nice. But was referring to Stern Drac.

Old fart defending cds? Anyway, in my car i have 5000 songs on a drive the size of my thumb. It's half full.

Admittedly, digital is long as you dont mind quality trade offs, nothing physical to own, no real art, etc..

This, now THIS is convenience!!

Quoted from stpcore:

Hello everyone. I was hoping I could ask for some help/advice? Quick story...our neighbor's husband passed away and she is moving to a smaller place. He had a vinyl collection dating back to the 60's with everything very well cared for (very nice condition). She has no need for this collection any longer. I offered to help her find a good home for these LPs but I honestly don't know anything about them or their potential value.
Would it be OK if I posted a few pics of what she has or would that be frowned upon here? I'm just looking to help her with these albums and potentially get her a little bit of money to help with expenses. Most of these seem to be symphony based albums and out of Germany. Some box style sets as well. If this isn't the place for this kind of thing would anyone be willing to PM me with a place that I could go to get some information for her? I thought of this club when she asked me about these things as I've grown to trust many of you within this community on pinball and other matters! In addition, I know that if someone here had interest they would be going to a good home and I would make certain that the purchase price would be advantageous on your end.

I am sure there are a few sources for additional info (anybody have something off hand to suggest?),

I probably shouldn't speak for anybody else on here since I'm not the OP, but I realllly do not think anybody on here would mind looking at pics and offering any advise/info/interest they can.

My condolences to your neighbor. It is nice of you to help.

Here's some new stuff I picked up this week
All Them Witches
Anderson. Paak

Awesome! Did that odelay originally come out in vinyl at all? I'm guessing thats new repressing?

#465 2 years ago
Quoted from Chisox:

It was pressed back in the day but in very low numbers and last one I saw was like $250 used. So yes this is the repressing.

Nice. I've been wanting to get smashing pumpkins mellon collie box repressing. I had found an original for like 200 and was like omg! Idk about that much...I think its like 400-500 range now though!

Quoted from ssbodyman:

My high school daughters setup.

That's awesome! And I see the new vinyl in her stack is good music too!

#481 2 years ago

Quick interest check....I have a collection larger than I'll admit. Lol...

Anyway, I have my premo albums, my decent stuff, my crap, etc...

I have a pretty significant amount of duplicates over the years of classic rock etc. Some are trashed, some are minty (mostly ones im keeping)... I have a lot of duplicates that are awesome albums, but not VG+ collector albums.

Anyway, is there an interest to people worth me starting to sort thru stuff in my "players" quality stuff? Lol. I use term as a classic 70d rock that isnt perfect, with wear, but certainly playable for a few bucks?

Or are people on here really high collectors only looking for high end and minty stuff?

#483 2 years ago

Thanks for the input...I have a wide range of music and condition...its going to take some time before I get stuff together, but I'll certainly throw it on here...I just wasnt sure if the would enjoy/be ok with for sale items here or not.

I have a shit ton of 45s too. Many duplicates....

Like think of a number of 45s a person shoylf have....then multiply it and again...

#484 2 years ago

There are people still into 45s too right?????

#486 2 years ago
Quoted from Fulltilt:

Yes, I have a few. I love good 45s. Wish I had a nice juke to go along with them.

I enjoy a lot of eras music, but its funny how many 45s I have that I can't recognize from the artist/title...I would say maybe half of those I know once I hear them. It always strikes me as funny when I guess a song by its title and it is not the song in my head at all.

80s 90s no prob...70s rock and some 70s pop sure...60s pop hit or miss...

But a lot of my 60s and early 70s that aren't big names...admittedly are lost on me.

Its so funny because I have a much younger friend who is really into 50s 60s music (not physc, more like drive in/car show style) that I have to bug whenever im going through older 45s

Wow! That's neat. Very different ... Not exactly analog at that point,so I wonder if it loses any of its fidelity or anything. It would be a 600 dollar cat toy for me (lol), but pretty interesting.

I wonder if the direct wired plug is still analog or if entire device is digital. I'm guessing digital.

#511 2 years ago

Just looking again, did I read that right???

They needed 50K and they are at OVER 800!!!!

Wow!!! Vinyl is definitely ALIVE!

#515 2 years ago
Quoted from Methos:

I collect 45's, although I think I have most what I want! Are you looking to move them on?

I have a lot that I have never even gone thru yet...I was just curious if vinyl guys are mostly into lps or if 45s are of interest. When I get through some more of them, I'll maybe sell a stack off (for reasonable cheap, most 45s aren't worth much).

It will probably be a little while before I get to them, but I will certainly let guys on here know I have some for sale/trade/etc before elsewhere.

Yesterday's finds:

Wasn't really familiar with these, but just checked them out and I certainly like em!

And nice artwork to boot!....wait, what's artwork doing with music? My mp3 didnt show it. Lol.

#579 2 years ago
Quoted from Chisox:

Same boat here. I can say the following about Beck on vinyl: Sea Change is tremendous on vinyl. Every pressing that I've heard or heard of is fantastic, my only issue with it is whatever you play after it sounds like absolute dogshit lol, unless it's.... Mutations which also sounds outstanding. Odelay is one of my favorite albums ever but the re-issue is just ok. They jammed about 70 mins on a single disc so the sound is going to suffer. Guero is sweet and a little better sound wise. That's all I have, hope it helps.

I see there is a newer pressing of it...did Mellow Gold ever come out on vinyl originally? I don't remember it, but wish I had it.

Dont remember it on vinyl I mean.

I had a few opinions about some RSD hype/commercialism...but decided to delete as it's too early in A.M. for that...

Support your local vinyl stores year round

#689 1 year ago

Well, I know I probably wont have the popular vote. But I won't go stand in a line at a busy shop to buy some RSD special item just because it was promoted that I should or that it is some limited item...

And I had to just look with a puzzled expression at the last RECORD store day item I saw on CD. Lol (I mean, its RSD, not digital download day, not generically music store day...just funny)

Yes, some cool stuff comes out on RSD, yes I love supporting local independent shops (vinyl, cd, etc)....

RSD started out seeming like an awesome thing to help promote your local shop, but just seems to have gotten more and more of a commercial day for certain specific items mainly.

I do appreciate the special deals, events, sales, customer appreciation, etc that are generously offered from local stores! And try to take time to stop in and support them (typically not when they are packed and usually buying used vinyl, maybe a new, not much RSD specific stuff).

I am glad rsd is there, as I am sure it makes a lot of money overall for the stores. I just see more focus and conversations on what company is releasing how many of what etc WAY more than talk about the local store itself...

Enough of a rant? Lol.

So. I have several different turntables and would like to leave 2 set up. Anybody have any special way they hook up 2 tables to a receiver with only 1 phono input?

#735 1 year ago
Quoted from snyper2099:

Couple different options:
Use that useless "tape" input.
Use an EQ with multiple inputs as a pass-thru.
Buy a better receiver with more inputs.

Unless the table has a preamp, it doesn't quite work that way...

Looking more for how people have setup up turntable into the proper phono input but kept 2 tables hooked up. A simple switch box would combine all the grounds together anf I don't think it would sound too good with extra hum.

Not too many receivers probably have more than 1 phono input.

#736 1 year ago

I'll have to see if any of my EQs have multiple inputs with isolated grounds that may be able to be used, but then it would be amplified and probably shouldnt be plugged into phono input (not sure on this)

#738 1 year ago
Quoted from snyper2099:

Funny, my setup works just fine this way on my vintage Zenith, for 5+ years now. I've used 3 different turntables on either of those inputs and they all sound great.
I've also set this up with my 70's Marantz receiver and it works as well.
Sansui EQ + B.i.c., RCA, and Pioneer turntables.

Interesting. Do you notice a volume difference between different inputs? Just curious.

#739 1 year ago

The eq could act like a preamp, but the eq output into the phono input (which typically amplifies unlike the other inputs) would wind up over all "louder" than the other inputs I would expect.

#741 1 year ago
Quoted from Ronnie1114:

You could buy a phono pre-amp and then just plug that into the tape, vcr, cd, etc... input. Then just switch between those two.

May have to try that if the eq thing doesnt work well for me.

Thanks guys.

I have extra LPs if anyone wants to trade:
The Stevie Wonder album is missing the booklet and the 45. I'm looking for 70's,80's, and 90's rock, metal, punk, and hardcore.

Love the bally mpu board laying there as background. More Vinyl and pinball!

#819 1 year ago
Quoted from Coyote:

I have odd musical tastes - there are *very* few artists that I like *all* their songs. Which is why I rarely got LPs - there may be two or three songs I like, and the rest, 'eh'. So in the rare cases where I liked most/all of the songs, I got the LPs. (Several Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac Rumors, Deep Forest (new age), to name a few.)
The juke is a '72 Rowe-AMI MM-6. As far as I know, Rowe/AMI's are the only ones that had the 'backwards' tonearm like that. I love my juke.. I can take it apart and reassemble it blindfolded now.

I was going to guess a rowe TI-1...I wasnt too far off.

Rowe mostly always seemed to be the Cadillac on the sound quality end.

I always thought it was funny that I have a mid 60s seeburg that was supposed to be so great since it had new solid state amp! But really, 5 or 6 years later...rowe AMI still using tube amps was SOOOO much better (to me).

I'm looking for a bulk buy of 45s, preferably a juke box collection to fill up a couple of juke boxes. Anyone have a lead of anyone selling a collection, or anyone deal with one of the bulk sellers on ebay who have a nice mix they send instead of junk?

Sorry, I still haven't got thru too many of my collection...since you said you are trying to fill multiple machines, I assume it is to sell or put on route? Only ask because snyper suggested asking an operator, but that sounds like you already...

Idk if/when I could help, but just curious as to what type/era of music you are looking for?

I've got a very nice working Wurlitzer 1900 jukebox. The record transport mechanism is totally visible. I try to include as many colored vinyl records as possible. I was lucky to have bought two complete sets of the Beatles singles on "jukebox only" colored vinyl back in the mid-nineties (one to keep, one to put in the jukebox). When a clear disc comes up it looks as if the jukebox is playing an invisible record.

I've had this jukebox for nearly 30 years (half of its life) - it's a 1956 Wurlitzer 1900. Plays 104 tunes. The way this mechanism works, one can place two "A Sides" facing out in each slot. So, there are no blah B-Sides. Here are some snaps pacmanretro .

Was going through a couple of boxes of 45s today that had a lot of DJ/promo/not for sale albums in there. I found it interesting that a bunch had little notes on them (radio station I assume).

What got me was a couple labeled "hot use sparingly"....I thought how weird; if it was a hot hit song why isn't it labeled "play the sh!t outta this one"....then realized they were probably promos of newer songs not supposed to be aired yet maybe?? Or something along those lines....

I love the amazing chrome and colors on older jukeboxes so much, but I have to admit that for my type of music I play most on 45 (70s rock, 80s pop, and the hard to find wish I could 90s stuff) I freauently fall for a more modern 45 juke.

Love the tube amps on a rowe and a 70s one would be a good median....but I find it hard to listen to a gin blossoms 45 on a 60s machine....the stereo and speaker quality of some 80s rowes just work best for me as far as the sound goes.

Sooo not the coolest looking of the machines, but enjoy those 70s/80s singles so much on them.

But hey, hard to say no to any vinyl's vinyl, and awesome!

So, here is a quick question for you audio guys with medium - large collections:

How do you arrange/organize your music?

When my collection was small, just keeping it alphabetical was nice. Over the years though, it seems like I wound up with a couple shelves of my favs and a couple of grouped chunks because of value/rarity/etc.

Now, the rest are so intermixed, that I don't know if it is even feasable for me to alphabetized them if I wanted to.

I am doing a little spring orginizing though, and at a crossroads with myself over how to go; So, I figured I would see what other people do.

I just started a new shelf for all my laser disc and CED movies/music discs. I started with a top shelf of stuff I love and a bottom shelf of crappy titles, but I am considering taking them all back down and (best disc or worst disc) trying to abide to the alphabet on these (since it isn't anything as immense as my vinyl piles are).

I know I have seen some pics on here of some AMAZING setups that are just beautiful!

Keep em coming...and keep em spinning people!

#2358 11 months ago
Quoted from Chisox:

I wish my collection was big enough to warrant organizing by category or genre but like a dumb ass I threw all my albums out/sold them/gave them away in the 80s.

Hard pressed upvote for the sediment (spelling) of acknowledging you shouldn't have done that!

Just being a smart ass with love

Separated by genre then alphabetically.
I use these to break up the genre's and print small labels for the tabs. link » 50 New 33 Rpm Record Dividers Index Tab For 12 Inch Album Storage Boxes

Those are kinda neat
A bit pricey. But cool

Nice to have a little more room.

Nice movie/music area!

I'm always so out of space with the big toys we like, that I never wind up being able to dedicate space like that, but it sure looks like an AWESOME area to enjoy some good videos etc!

Maybe some

Quoted from bob_e:

A few years ago he did a concert at a Casino, in Mt. Pleasant. Hr stated he was NOT going to do Alice's Restaurant because he want his kids to get more stage time playing their new material. So I passed on going, and a 2 hour drive.

He should have just made the concert 18 minutes longer

Long day. Kept sayin I will make sure to spin something today, but my stuff is sooooo out of order. And indecision may or may not be my problem...

I dont feel like counting how about I jump on first shelf and someone names me 3 different numbers from say.....1 to 200.

And those will be my music choices of the night....

#2571 8 months ago

Sorry for the too late that day, but pulled these as some of my music to spin on the 4th....
You got:

13 putting you in a Tijuana Taxi.
77 getting you some Little Pink Houses.
159 got you Back in the U.S.S.R.

Played all the albums, those were just some hot songs that popped into my head off them as I post this. Lol.

Thanks for the selections!

Such a great album. Supernaut, Snowblind and my favorite piano song of all time, Changes.

After playin a few off this album again now, I had to go onto the "songs that make you cry" thread and add Changes....always loved the melody and slow heartfelt styling he did....

But dont ask me....I'm the one who likes songs like GNR Patience and November Rain too. Lol

He may be old and out of style, but Elton and Bernie made some great music.

About 3 years ago I passed on a cheap yellow brick road on yellow vinyl...been mad at myself for that one ever since. Not super rare, but pretty cool and it was only a couple bucks...not that cheap online.

#2667 8 months ago

Nice sign!
Sooo true....I, sadly, know too many people that don't even know how to properly use a turn table

That would be like asking somone to use the manual choke on my old Nova....or even a carburetor In general probably. Lol.

Quoted from vid1900:

I always pay with Sacagawea dollar coins, and that sends people into a tailspin.
"This is legal tender, by federal law you have to accept this, bitch"

I remember when they were pushing those. The local postal stamp machines gave you shiney new looking ones (provably were fresh) as change instead of quarters. I wanted some because they were a new novel, rather than go to bank etc, I would buy like 1 stamp (maybe it was a few....whatever small number machine sold) and insert like a 10 dollar bill.

Remember same problem pretty quick too...people took it as odd, and also saw a couple times where they weren't always sure what compartment to put the currency in in register.

Quoted from Jam_Burglar:

A lot of people sleep on the 12" singles. Usually they have much better sound quality than the album version and sometimes extended intros/outros/bridges/etc. Sometimes you get a nice non-album b-side too. I go to the record stores and lots of times they're like "oh yeah, I have some in a bin in the back, nobody wants them". That's where I swoop in.

Speaking of 12" singles...just got a couple myself. Not that I would typically be cranking up Tina Turner, but I couldn't help it with the beyond thunderdome label on this one

Anybody have any experience shipping 45s?
I want to try hard to go thru this latest haul and maybe move along a good chunk, but not sure on best/cheapest shipping...

Was hoping to maybe bundle some up in maybe 100 record stacks....

#3003 5 months ago
Quoted from Fulltilt:

Media mail ships heavy loads cheap.
Go a couple hundred in a box.

Any idea on rough cost range within U.S.?

Or where to find info?

I legit tried looking and couldn't find reference to cost, so guessing ill have to pack up a stack and go ask at usps/shipping store.

I honestly wanted to see how much shipping was to see if I could make it affordable to offer some up to my vinyl comrades in this thread....

A lot of the 45s so far seem to be 60s pop and some rock. With a sprinkle of 70s rock. Decent quality. Not all perfect, but mostly in sleeves and very playable.

I ALWAYS want to keep em all....But I have WAY more than I'll ever use....

#3006 5 months ago

I, obviously, am lookin for my kind of music first...then want to sell off duplicates etc...

Does anybody have specifc genre/era of music the are interested in on 45?

Just asking so I have an idea if there is any interest...

Looking at you...

#3007 5 months ago

And others OF COURSE!

#3009 5 months ago
Quoted from Coyote:

I have a handful of specific songs from the 70's, 80's that I've been looking for, and unable to find (without paying a little for a single record and HELL shipping, I mean). I'd be interested in some earlier, 60's and early 90's pop, since those two genres are lacking in my joke at the moment.

That's cool.

90s stuff is rare for me to come across (as it seems to always be for us all) unfortunately for sure

If you have a short list for a few 70s/80s specifics, PM me a few. I can at least keep an eye out as I flip through stuff.

Looks like many of these are a little on the lighter side of pop. But it's a mix.
I'm definitely not going to find any super rare expensive stuff mixed in I don't think :/

I don't want to sell a stack of albums and have anybody disappointed if it's not what they want....but I don't want to spend hours and hours to put together a short stack of hot titles for low cost and have a pile remaining of lesser titles either...makes it a little tricky for me. That's why I figured I would ask a little bit about interest of people.

One of my receivers from the 80s has died. Do any of you have budget suggestions for replacement? Was hoping to find a decent replacement for $500 or less.

Gotta keep that music going!
No chance it's a reasonably easy repair?

#3263 3 months ago
Quoted from MMP:

Power just turned off while I was using it and it won't power back on. I did the easy checking to see if power fuse had blown but that was not it. Definitely lived a long and useful life. At this point I am thinking may as well update.

Figured I would ask. I mean if it's a cheapo, then no major loss. If it's high end, may be worth looking at I figured. Possible fuse or power supply issue internally that finally gave out....but could obviously be many different things.

Hope you find a great replacement!
