I'm certainly no one to have detailed knowledge of cutting vinyl, but my simple understanding is that cutting at half-speed allows time to render more detail and theoretically more dynamic range into the groove.
Quoted from Darcy:Fairly sure that mass market vinyl LPs were made by pressing hot vinyl between metal plates.
Sorry for my careless description. Yes, pressing vinyl and cutting half speed into the master lacquer.
Quoted from Milltown:.. when you buy records at least you own something..
And even when they decide to change it years later, you still have the original. Can't beat album art.
Quoted from Milltown:I just purchased a killer late 70s technics direct drive table..
Great to see the good old Discwasher close by. I still have and use the one I had back in the 70's.
Does anybody else remember the Sound Guard record preservation system?
I have a lot of my albums dated on the jacket after using it. So far they still sound great!
https://www.etsy.com/listing/173008359/1970s-sound-guard-record-preservation
Quoted from Rascal_H:Picked up today.
Couple .38 Special, couple Kinks, couple Hall & Oates, and a 99 cent Willie Nelson for good measure. All on my super messy basement floor (mid shop job gets a little crazy down here).
I hope that is pinball dirt on those q-tips...
Seemed a fitting place to post. In memory of Butch Trucks. Thank you for all my years of enjoying your albums.
A couple of pictures from one of the Allman Brothers concerts that I had the privilege to attend.

Quoted from ssbodyman:Alright let's get this back to being somewhat pinball related
Excellent! The club is back alive.
About the best pinball related I can do now with my one single pin!
Quoted from pinster68:A few years ago I picked up a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon TT
Reminds me of my old AR turntable. Basic and good sounding.
Quoted from ultimategameroom:The look on a persons face who sees a laserdisc for the first time is always priceless!
I love the old Laserdiscs. I wish I had more of them. I agree, it's great to see someone's expression when the message comes up to flip the disc in the middle of the movie!
I use a nice old Pioneer machine. I love the mega size remote.
There are some great old titles on Laserdisc that just don't seem be the same carried over to newer format.
I love the signed copy of Phantasm. BOY!!!

Quoted from pinster68:I'm familiar with the concert, but can anyone tell me about this press?
I'm no help... all I had was the 8 Track version of the concert...
Quoted from Chisox:I have a nice Oppo Blue Ray/DVD/CD/SACD player hooked up to my rig. Not a big fan of 5.1 or 7.1 surround. I'm just a 2 channel guy I guess. Concert DVDs (like The Last Waltz) get lots of play over here. I love putting a good concert DVD on, pouring some bourbon, and CRANKING it.
Don't you love the Oppo!? I use the BDP-103. Great player.
Quoted from Chisox:Yes! It's fantastic. I prefer vinyl obviously, but I still have 2000 CDs.
I've never played a music CD with the Oppo. I use it for movies and concert DVDs. Blu-ray music discs seem to be generally excellent! I've tried to collect classic rock concerts on DVD. It's great to see bands that I never had the opportunity to see live.
How many here can raise their hand as having been a member of the Columbia Record Club? Get a new album about every month, keep it or send it back. Oh man how I looked forward to opening those packages!
Quoted from ssbodyman:Anyone else have this version of Tommy?
Very cool album! I have not seen the pinball inside before!
My Meaty Beaty has at least Pinball Wizard....
Quoted from pinster68:...and the full listening space:
This was my old listening space.... (:
Quoted from Chisox:I swear I've had that Shure in my basket at least three times but ended up with something else, usually the m97xe. I like the Ortofon red and blue but wanted to try something different. We'll see.
Last cart I bought was the Grado Gold. So far I've been very happy with it for the price.
Quoted from Ronnie1114:Just saw this thread for the first time! New collector over here, about a year....
And Wham 8-Tracks to boot!
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:Anyone like the Beastie Boys?
Here are some excerpts from my collection:
Awesome collection!
Quoted from Fixie:On the "Yes" side , here's a couple of framed autographed covers on my wall.
Many a bong hit back in the day to "Yours is No Disgrace"
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:If he had a huge batch of funk 7"s you'd be much more likely to have something.
Funk 7's. First time I've heard that!
Bought this James Brown around '70 at my local Roses 5 & Dime department store.
WELL worn cover from lots of enjoyment.
The lady made some smart remark at checkout... guess it was that 15 yo white kid in Eastern NC buying "Sex Machine".
Quoted from Chitownpinball:So are yall gonna change the name to the "vintage" vinyl club? I havent seen a recent band in a while if at all.
This is about the most "recent" you'll see from me.
Seems in keeping with "recent" pinball. (:
Quoted from Chisox:Here's some new stuff I picked up this week
All Them Witches
Anderson. Paak
Beck
Beck
It makes me feel old when I look at bands and realize I've never heard the names before..... (Ok, well maybe Beck..)
Quoted from Chisox:Couple more new ones came today.
I 'wonder' which is your favorite???
Quoted from pacmanretro:There are people still into 45s too right?????
Yes, I have a few. I love good 45s. Wish I had a nice juke to go along with them.
Quoted from rotordave:... Judas Priest Gull pressings.
You can PM me what you have and maybe want for the Judas Priest stuff. You can mail them right to me. (:
Quoted from Chisox:Oh yeah, I've got a bunch. Here are some of the framed ones:
Ween!!
Quoted from ssbodyman:Pretty cool soundtrack showed up in the mail today. Love that it's pressed on silver vinyl
Like the flying silver ball! Sweet!
Quoted from maglar:... now I need to find a proper center channel speaker stand.
I use this one I picked up from Amazon. Nice weight to it and angle is perfect for my center speaker.
Quoted from Enaud:... Beer and music is alright with me!
Yes! Beer and Doobies is alright with me!
Quoted from waldo34:Time for some PFunk.
Excellent! LOVE me some Parliament / Funkadelic!
Made me go to the Mothership Connection.
Quoted from waldo34:Cosby leaves me feeling a little dirty these days.
LOL!!! That was the title of Foxx's stage act when I saw him in Vegas! Great flashback, thank you!
Quoted from waldo34:Cosby leaves me feeling a little dirty these days.
LOL!!! That was the title of Foxx's stage act when I saw him in Vegas! Great flashback, thank you!
Quoted from Chisox:I remember hearing about quadraphonic sound as a kid. Is it really a thing, like 4 channel sorround?
Yes, it was very cool to play with at the time. With the Marantz, you could plug in different decoders too.
Quoted from Chisox:That thing is a beaut. $1250 in 1974 = $6250 today so that must have been top of the line. Although that was back when the stereo was the centerpiece of the family room, not the TV.
I couldn't afford the big Marantz back when. I had the baby version. (:
Quoted from pacmanretro:3 bucks! And no refunds!!!! Outrageous!!
And .25 a gallon gas.
Quoted from littlecammi:The Captain and Me by the Doobies was one of my favorite 4-channel reel-to-reel tapes
I think the reel to reel is fair game here. It might not be vinyl but it's pure analog. I still use my Pioneer regularly!
Quoted from electricsquirrel:$9.00 to see Led Zeppelin.
Those were the days.
Festival seating... the ticket never got taken. They opened the doors and got out of the way.
Quoted from jhanley:Actually it was 50 cents a gallon around then.
Around '72-'73 in eastern NC we had it for .25 at the self serve pumps. I remember it shooting up there in the "gas shortage". What a bunch of bull that was waiting in line for a quota of gas.
Quoted from SteveO:I got crushed a couple of times at festival seating concerts. A Zeppelin show had to be a madhouse.
I remember that scary feeling. When the crowd started moving into the door, for a moment being carried along with my feet off the ground.
Quoted from Methos:Check this out.
Freakin amazing.
» YouTube video
WOW. In 1983 I used an electron microscope for my research course in my biology major. That scope is an amazing advance over old technology.
Quoted from snyper2099:Yesterday was the Vibrators and The Yardbirds. Today is Last in Line.
+ on the Yardbirds. Never heard of or what to think of the Vibrators.
Quoted from HoakyPoaky:I just love it when new vinyl arrives in the mail, and this purchase was LONG overdue. So stoked
Decades old dead fan... My European tour album is nearly falling apart...
But the vinyl stays perfect!
Quoted from greatwichjohn:Worst album I have had to listen too in some time. Rhythm of the night by DeBarge, the only decent song.
LOL... great call!
Quoted from snyper2099:Decent UK punk band from the late 70's...
With a very snap name. (:
Quoted from ssbodyman:Great find today sealed copy from 1990.
I always hated it when the record store put stuff in the sale bin and clipped a notch out of the cover or cut the corner off.
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:Hey pinside vinyl club, check out my 100% vinyl '80s Mix.
I took over 100 records and blended and scratched them all together into a continuous, hour-long pop/electro mix.
They're going to love me at work tomorrow! LOL!
Thanks a bunch!
Quoted from NY2Colorado:Anyone planning on hitting up Record Store Day this year?
http://www.twistandshout.com/record-store-day
I hit up Discogs day this past week... spent a fortune it felt like.
Quoted from pacmanretro:Had a few a bit early and got the garage "radio" goin. Funny is that the title strips aren't correct so its a drunken fun mystery ;D
One of these days I gotta' get a juke.
Quoted from littlecammi:I remember when that edition came out. Very nice that the vinyl itself is a deep purple color.
Hard to believe it was nearly 20 years ago. It's become a pretty hard to find album. Wish I'd picked up a dozen copies back then. Who knew.
Quoted from Chisox:Fleetwood Mac has been a favorite since I was spinning my dads back in the 70s.
Yes! Since I was spinning it and .... well in another state... back in the 70s.
Quoted from Chisox:OK this is currently spinning, unfortunately on my CD player (cue the boos). One of my favorites (Wagner and Hunter are unbelievable on this, as is the whole band). Has anyone bought the re-issue or should I just hit Discogs for an older pressing?
Get the original. (: GREAT choice!
I needed a little Humble Pie tonight.... "Are you ready?!"
Quoted from yfz450:Today's score 84 LP's for $50 at a yard sale.
GREAT find! Spirit 12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus is one of my favs.
Quoted from pacmanretro:Not too many receivers probably have more than 1 phono input.
Most of the vintage Marantz did. (:
Quoted from snyper2099:Man I love this album:
That is certainly one not in many stacks.
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:I see Songs in the Key of Life in there. Does it still have the 7" that came with it?
Also, the B-Side to that 3rd Bass 12" in nice. Derelicts of Dialect!
DANG Burglar, you gave me a BIG flashback. I had to run down and check the LP. It has been so long since I played that album that I had totally forgotten it had the little 7" with it.
Quoted from maglar:Nice little score for me this weekend.
Your score included several of my favorites.... YES, Low Spark and Delaney and Bonnie.
Saw Bonnie Bramlett singing along with the Allman Brothers once in concert.
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:I see Songs in the Key of Life in there. Does it still have the 7" that came with it?
The only other album I have with a bonus 7" is Elvis Costello - Armed Forces.
Were there others you can remember?
Quoted from snyper2099:Now playing this... anyone know what it is?
The Astrology Album? (:
Quoted from Ronnie1114:The latest speakers pickup: A set of JBL L80t, scored them off Craigslist. Currently waiting on a re-foam kit for them. Very excited.
I loved the JBL sound. Great pickup! Those foam covers don't look bad at all.
Anyone within driving distance of Johnson City that wants a free pair of DCM Time Windows, let me know. They need new foam covers, original ones are gone. Probably a few dings as well. I hate to throw them out but it's time to clean out the storage room.
Quoted from Ronnie1114:Really working them out for the first time today. They really kick ass. The refoam turned out pretty well, not a super difficult process but you definitely can fuck things up! Here are some pictures of the final product...
Looks GREAT. Excellent job.
Quoted from Tbgolfen:Here are my purchases today at record store day.
Outstanding!! A Jaco Pastorius fan! One of my 2 favorite bass players for a few decades.
Quoted from Chisox:Tommy Bolin plays out of his mind on that album. Oh yeah, Billy's pretty good too.
Tommy Bolin.. Tommy Bolin.... where have I heard.....
(:
Quoted from Coyote:Not sure if I can join or not. Will let ya'll decide.
I have very few albums - most of them from my short stint at a radio station. Most of the 12"ers I have are singles or remixes.
Then I have about 400 45's, of various ages. Mostly purchased to put in here:
It's vinyl. 45s are pure vinyl!
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:Kind sir, you get a pass this time but if one more person calls records "vinyls" I'm releasing the hounds!
Quoted from Coyote:Hah, cool.
I wonder what other unique or 'different' vinyls ya'll have
I still think one of the most "different" albums I have is the Jeff Bridges "Sleeping Tapes". The only album I have never opened. I think they are actually quite good in a strange sort of way...
Quoted from Coyote:Wow - that's a really funky cover, I like it!
Pull out the sleeve and the eyes close. (:
Quoted from Chisox:Picked this up this week to honor the one year anniversary of his death, still can't believe it. They did a nice job on this re-pressing, straight from the analog masters, not just a transfer from a CD.
I loved Morris Day in the movie. He really set the tone for The Time.
Quoted from Ronnie1114:Love this album!
Some of the best song transitions ever on this album.
The Dead was the only band I ever lost a job over. Laid out of work to stand in line for tickets.
Quoted from Jason43:My restored AR XB. Also own a couple Technics DD"s.
Super job on the AR. I had to search for this old pic. I knew I had my old AR somewhere!
Even included the old Dokorder! Memories from the ads on the King Biscuit Flower Hour. Man.. that probably dates me......
Quoted from snyper2099:Or how long you go without playing a certain album?
About 48 years.... (:
Quoted from Impzilla:My pinball specific music by machine - artist, album, song.
Great topic!
WNBJM - Old and In the Way, same, Pig in a Pin (Oh yeah!)
Quoted from Chisox:I have an Lp Bin and love it. My wife bought me one for Christmas about 8 years ago. I don't like browsing my albums by tilting my head and reading the spines, I want to flip them forward like I'm at a record store.
Damn.... more money...
And less wear on the album covers. There you go. I NEED one. (:
Quoted from HoakyPoaky:IDK how many of you are into The Dead, but this beauty just arrived in the mail today. 5 LP set of Cornell 5/8/77, probably the best Dead show of all time. So stoked to have this on vinyl
GREAT to see the Dead alive and well in '17.
I don't know though... I think the Duke show in '78 was the best.... what I remember of it anyway!
http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/grateful-dead/1978/cameron-indoor-stadium-durham-nc-13d605c9.html
Quoted from Ronnie1114:Picked up some Zeppelin today... One question, aren't the windows on Physical Graffiti supposed to spell out P-H-Y-S-I-C-A-L G-R-A-F-F-I-T-I? On this copy, there are only the sleeves for the records.
Yes it did. I wonder if you're not just missing that insert? There were the 2 record sleeves and another one with the lettering.
Wonderful festival seating. The only reason I had the ticket left. They opened the doors and got out of way. Scariest moments I ever had in a concert. Stood in front of the right speaker array.. Loudest concert I ever attended, hands down. I'm convinced it's why I have hearing problems and tinnitus! It was apparently John Bonham's birthday. I had no idea at the time. Maybe why they played a great concert!

Quoted from janus:....so do i get to unwrap a record that's been sealed for 43 years?
If you plan to enjoy listening to it, yes.
It's like "Time in a Bottle".
Quoted from Chisox:I really need to get some Buddy Holly in my collection.
+1 Love some Buddy Holly! Another rock'a billy favorite is Johnny Burnette.
And some rock'n roll Bill Haley! (:
Quoted from Agent57:Rockin' out with some Steppenwolf tonight...
+5 One of my first albums was Early Steppenwolf. Power Play still gives me a rush.
And Howlin' For My Baby... oh man. Turn it up!
Quoted from ssbodyman:....I ended up with these 8 for 10 bucks.
With the recent vinyl surge, it's incredible to get 8 albums for $10 these days. Great score!
Quoted from Agent57:Blasting this one right now, 1st press with "alternate" cover. You never hear much about Steve Winwood's guitar playing but he's more than holding his own with Clapton on "Had To Cry Today," especially near the end when they both start going off - great stuff.
I posted a pic of my album with the original cover. It actually got a "thumbs down" from someone... anal character I'm assuming.
Very interesting story behind the choice of album cover at the time. (and what happened to the chrome...)
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/anyone-collect-vinyl/page/6#post-3484901
Great album!
Quoted from Rascal_H:Wasn't she like 12? Lol
11 I think. Can you imagine putting that out today?
48 years later... She's now like nearly 60.
Quoted from Agent57:RIP Gregg Allman, thanks for all the great music.
+1. When I was in school at ECU in the 70's, I saw Gregg do a solo performance at a small club, The Attic, following the release of his Laid Back album.
One of the best shows I've ever seen.
Quoted from Chisox:One of my top 10 all time albums spinning tonight. Goes well with bourbon.
Fantastic. TVC 15 will always get me rocking.
Quoted from Chisox:Sure! Right now it's: (all on vinyl of course)
Great memories. My first copy of Live at Leeds was on 8 track. Still analog.
Quoted from Chisox:It's the benchmark for live records for me. They keep releasing deluxe, super deluxe, super duper deluxe versions of it and I keep buying them.
Your Bowie post reminded me of one of my favorite live albums. Had to put it on tonight!
Quoted from Dee-Bow:Confirmed the identity of Yfz450 & agent57!!
Pins ok, drum set off limits.
Quoted from electricsquirrel:I've never been a big fan of live albums, but this one is definitely one of my faves!
Some live albums are absolutely classic....
Quoted from Rascal_H:Flea market impulse buys. Fleetwood Mac Tusk, Led Zep II, couple Hall & Oats, Kinks Preservation Act 2
Nice impulse grab. ... that Hall and Oates in makeup always has been a little creepy.... but a great album. (:
Quoted from Agent57:Another live album and one of my favorites since it came out in 2006. Highly recommended!
OMG! I'm a Neil'o junkie!

Quoted from electricsquirrel:I love that version!
In fact, one of my favorite NY albums.
I think the one I've played the most is a toss up between After the Gold Rush and Everybody Knows This is Nowhere.
The intro to Cowgirl in the Sand is always mesmerizing to me.
I start feeling my age when I look back at the female artists that really influenced me.
Many young folks today don't even know who they are.....

Quoted from electricsquirrel:Love the Little Feat cover of "Willin". Sneaky Pete on steel guitar. Wonderful!
Ry Cooder on the bottleneck slide in Willin' was immortal.
Quoted from Agent57:... Such a fun album... "so let's do it the first time and to hell with the rest of it.
If anyone can listen to Black Mountain Rag with Doc Watson, Vasser Clements, Junior Huskey and John McEuen and not be seat dancin' I'll buy 'em a beer.
Quoted from play_pinball:I have a small independent record label, pretty aptly named for the Pinside community:
http://playpinballrecords.bigcartel.com/
https://www.discogs.com/label/178631-Play-Pinball!-Records
I like that the cat gets to pick the next LP.
Quoted from pacmanretro:Wow! You guys have made some awesome scores at thrift places!!!!
It's usually all christmas albums around here I swear. Lol.
Exactly! Jealous here...
Quoted from pacmanretro:That's awesome!
You guys remember his clothing line (hot topic I think)? I felt it was a corporate sell out when it came out....now, I wish I had a,pair of the antichrist superstar pants! Or at least a wallet. Lol.
I'm not sure why MM vinyl remains so limited with the recent years of renewed interest.
Quoted from vid1900:This is a serious slice of vinyl playing tonite:
Robin Trower "I can't wait much longer"
» YouTube video
Possibly my most vivid record memory was from '74, first year of college. Walking into my friends home one night and blasting away was Trower's Bridge of Sighs. Permanent imprint...
Quoted from Methos:Moved into my new house, and it's all hardwood floors and walls. No carpet. The echo is the worst I have ever heard, flat, and no warmth.
Anyone experience something similar?
Absolutely. Like switching on a laser in a box of mirrors.
Furniture and a large piece of remnant carpet can be a quick improvement.
Quoted from Chisox:Happy thirsty Thursday.
Never listened to any Stergill Simpson.
Cheap Trick is good whiskey music though. (:
Quoted from Chisox:Sturgill is trying to bring old school country back. He's a dead ringer for Waylon to my old ears with a killer band and a guitar player from the Balkans who plays like he's the best session player in Nashville. He goes well with whiskey too.
I did notice the resemblance. Not sure if he is ready to join The Outlaws but it does make him whiskey music. Oooh-raah
Quoted from Chisox:I'm very sceptical of all things vinyl these days and assume everything is a cash grab.
Bingo.
Like Sneakin' Sally Through The Alley.
Quoted from Chisox:I'm serious as a heart attack this is the one. Everone needs to check this out once. 60% will walk away but 40 % will have their balls blown off and become believers. Come join us. We meet on wednesdays at Denny's.
Ok... I have to admit I want it.
Quoted from Agent57:Getting ready to fire up the grill here on this nice Sunday afternoon, nothing says "Summer" to me like this album...
HOT FUN!
Is it a move for quality vinyl or a snag for the trend and income for Sony? I guess either way more available LPs is a good thing.
Quoted from Methos:Not sure what this exactly means. Their artists are on vinyl already and all vinyl production is by independent businesses.....so I'm thinking just sloppy reporting? What exactly is the story?
Fake News!
Quoted from vid1900:Elvis' first and best album:
$10 (I know that Amazon says "live" but don't believe them, it's studio)
Thanks VID!!
Quoted from CobraClutch:... I was curious if anyone had heard of or tried the elmers glue technique. Been meaning to try it with a few of my dirtier records, but haven't dove in.
Discwasher has been all I've ever needed. It they are that dirty, I might turn to something like the Spin-Clean but they would have to be pretty dirty it seems to need more than that.
Quoted from Chisox:Beautiful, congrats on a great turntable. What cartridge are you putting on there?
Decided to go with a Grado Master 2. Now waiting is the hard part!
Quoted from Chisox:I also picked this up yesterday. I kind of burnt out on Dan Auerbach a few years ago so when The Arcs come out I just kind of ignored it. It's actually really good. Lots of good r&b vibe.
I feel so old and out of touch...
Quoted from Chisox:I'm old too, and sort of out of touch. But you have good taste in music and fantastic taste in gear. Cheers.
Sometimes I think Karma reaches out and touches you. I've held onto this T for years...
Quoted from Chisox:Thanks man. Fucking Tuesday night concerts! Every show I want to see seems like it falls on a Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm too old for that shit.
OH how I feel your pain....
Quoted from Agent57:"And my soul...has been psychedelicized!"
» YouTube video
I love that song!
Quoted from yfz450:Now spin'n >>>> This album been though hell and back with me. Still one of my favorites. Cover is beat, but the vinyl is still nice.
Most all my covers are worn bad too ... as long as the vinyl is nice!
Quoted from Chisox:Haha. Been there, just replace the scotch with bourbon.
George had it right... why have to decide.
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:Copped this at Disney World at the Haunted Mansion gift shop. It's got the actual audio track from the ride and the music on the flip.
I loved that ride! Now that my daughter is grown, I doubt I'll ever see it again. ):
I picked this similar one up a long time ago...can't remember where. It was great sounds for scaring the kids on halloween!
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:That one is good because, if I remember right, it has sound effects. I have a version with an orange cover but I like your's better.
Yes, it was all sound effects. Combined with a fog machine and my Michael Myers mask, it would scare the crap out of the kids.
Quoted from vid1900:Released on 2 disc vinyl:
http://pitchfork.com/news/predator-soundtrack-gets-vinyl-reissue/
What?? Sold out of Infrared? Daaammnnn...
Have to settle for camo I suppose. (:
Very cool site Vid, thanks! They have the reissue of Panama Red, in purple vinyl even.
I wore that album OUT while living in the dorm at ECU in '74.

Quoted from Ronnie1114:Picked this up off Craigslist yesterday! Very excited!
Loved my Technics. Brings back lots of memories!
Quoted from SteveO:I wish I saw him on that tour. I saw him when Abracadabra came out and really enjoyed the show.
I wish I could have seen them anytime. The Joker was one of my favs... Speaking "of the pompatus of love"!
What a great song.
Quoted from Dee-Bow:You seem more of the midnight toker than the pomputus of love type, Fulltilt !!
They go together well!
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:Hell yeah, you've got great range in your selections.
Memories drive my music. Back in '73, I had a good friend who played bass in a local band. He'd always play Donny Hathaway when we rode around partaking. I always think of him when playing Donny.
Eric, where are you now?!
Quoted from ssbodyman:Had to steal this one from my daughter's crate, best new rock band out according to Terry at PBL
Coming from Terry that's Highly Suspect".
Quoted from Vdrums:here's a picture of my turntable and system. The table sits on an active anti vibration table made for electron Microscopes.
In college I hung the turntable from the ceiling with chains and a thick plywood base.
A bunch of 45s for anyone who might be interested. 320+. A huge variety, AC/DC to ZZ Top. 70s, 80s, & 90s. Even some R&B and disco!
Thought I might one day pickup a juke but doesn't look that way.
Asking $150. Free pickup in Johnson City, TN. Media Mail shipping at cost.
(or come sort through them at the Good Samaritan if nobody wants them.)
Quoted from Vdrums:@ fulltilt. Yes the phono cart has LED's in it because it is a powered unit and the LED's let you know when it's energized or powered down.
It's called a strain gauge cartridge and uses displacement rather than current to create the signal. Soundsmith makes it and it comes with a dedicated phono preamp/power supply.
It has very low mass and tracks the Groove in a way unlike any other cart. It's super high definition vinyl.
Soundsmith is fantastic. In addition to their cartridges, they do fantastic repair. I had them repair an old Dokorder reel-to-reel a few years ago. The deck was better than new when they were done. Highly recommended folks.
Quoted from snyper2099:Yeah, but that's just the turquoise lettering variation. Well known among collectors.
Yes. I thought it might be worth folks checking their album. I did. (:
Quoted from vid1900:I still can't believe that **songwriters** are still writing songs where addictive drug terms are used to describe being in love with a woman, (it's like Huey Louis 40 years latter)
Oh come on now... that's going too far Vid. I like Huey. (:
Quoted from electricsquirrel:I can't imagine trying to handle a bike like that on a slick, muddy road.
I don't see any of the bikes actually moving.
Quoted from kwiKimart:So does Patrick Bateman...
Yeah but he has the wrong media.
Hope it's appropriate to list topic related stuff for sale. Please correct me if it's in bad taste.
I have a very nice DAC just listed if anyone might be looking.

Quoted from pacmanretro:Fulltilt, may I ask about the VN lighter?
Sure. Had it around a long time. I bought it from a dealer a number of years back. Still works nice.
Quoted from pacmanretro:I had to ask as my father served on the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk as an ordinance man and also flew in Huey helicopter as door gunner.
Any memorabilia of that era certainly means something to me.
A special group. I spent my entire career with the VA before I retired. No disrespect to any other group but the VN guys were my favorite to work with. I was lucky not to have had my draft number pulled so I hope I helped many who did.
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:Love that record. It got me to dig out Jazzy Jeff's record where he samples that.

Quoted from Jam_Burglar:Another great record! I really like that track "Love Song" on there.
Made myself a note in '77 that I "Sound Guarded" it for keeping.
I wasn't sure how much I was really going to like Ok Computer. I thought I might be "too old".
So far I like it... a lot.
Quoted from Haggy38:Pinball and Vinyl.......... love them.
Excellent Nakamichi. I had an old 600 in the day. Thought it was so futuristic at the time.
Quoted from ssbodyman:Not perfect enough for the hot album thread but pretty excited to finally find this recently. The sound quality of the cd was horrible but I loved it back in the day, lp sounds better but not great.
There's a hot album thread? I think any album you enjoy is a hot album!
