I saw a richard pryor stand up record today for .99
I usually just buy music, but I couldn't pass that up!
Quoted from 72Devilz:Today’s Thrift Scores, a little bit of everything here!
[quoted image]
Wow!!! That's a great haul. The thrift stores around here usually have crap.
Quoted from jazzmaster:Listening to this fantastic debut today. Still stunning after hundreds of plays...
[quoted image]
Great record
Quoted from jazzmaster:Lux Interior was the greatest frontman to ever take the stage...[quoted image]
Freddie Mercury would like to have a word...
Quoted from Azmodeus:I constantly visit this thread for listening ideas. No vinyl anymore, myself. Great music in here. I’ll get a player again someday, too.
Why wait? Buy a player now.
Got a few goodies today:

Thank you! I like a very wide range of music.
Quoted from dirkdiggler:Only rock record out of the entire stack of 100.
I've never seen so many kilts.
[quoted image]
I knew that was coming!
Was it all Lawrence Welk? Lol
I have a sale coming up with tens of thousands of records. It is mind-boggling!
I will have to post some pics
Quoted from Fulltilt:You’re selling tens of thousands of records??
You’ll need more than a few pics.
I own an estate sale company that is doing a sale with tens of thousands. There will definitely be lots of pics...far too many to share here, but I will share a few.
Quoted from Pickle:If you had a list….I may be I interested in some…not sure it’s worth your time…just wish it was local….I would love to come look.
Quoted from Fulltilt:One estate with tens of K+ albums?
Where’s that happening? Crazy!
Dallas, TX. About 6 weeks away.
You are absolutely welcome to come. I don't think I will be able to make a full list, but you could send me a PM with a wishlist or "look for" list of you want and I will do my best.
Question for the group:
I am looking for some new speakers for my system. Any recommendations?
What I'm working with so far:
I have a strong collection of about 2000 records, and I am seeking to upgrade my sound system.
I have a fluance rt82 turntable with built in pre-amp. I am looking for a pair of great sounding active speakers (I'm not looking to get a receiver). Size and price aren't big concerns.
Quoted from gonzo73:Tracklist please... and concert date.
There are multiple concerts gathered in a compilation of live performances from around the world.
IMG_20220813_070422192 (resized).jpgQuoted from dirkdiggler:That's really cool. I'm 90% sure my older brother was at that Winnipeg show in 86. Not sure why they played a theater that holds only 1400 people when they were already playing in arenas. Maybe because it was shortly after Cliff's death?
You should ask him. That show is considered one of the best they have ever done.
Quoted from Paulatron:I have always wanted
I do regret not buying the planet of the apes one to go with my pota fu poster. (Apologies, this was the only pic I could find on my phone)[quoted image]
As a big POTA fan, I approve of that decision!!
By the way...when is a Planet of the apes pin coming???!
Quoted from djblouw:Got a new one in the mail today. Great punk stuff. The Chats.
It’s clear vinyl (the first I’ve ever seen). It was supposed to be a color fusion. But looks like they forgot the color add in the press.
Also, hidden track on the album. Nice touch!
[quoted image]
Part of me wonders if them being a punk band and having an album entitled 'get f***ed' is the reasoning behind them saying it was a color fusion and then leaving out the color. It would be
a very punk thing to do...
Quoted from gonzo73:Answer..
Greg Kihn band
Rockihnroll???
Eh..??
Correct?
I like the guess. It's a tough one. Franz Ferdinand
PXL_20220831_021809139 (resized).jpgI am very excited about a sale I have next week of a MASSIVE record collection. It will be epic!
I will be posting some amazing records soon!
Quoted from gonzo73:Late Summer night listening...
The Doors, Celebration of the Lizard, Studio Version.
Bootleg, grey marble vinyl.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Wow! You always bring in the RARE stuff!
Quoted from gonzo73:Saturday night Radio Gonzo..
Eternal Champion, Ravening Iron, 2021
2nd album, from the Masters of retro Heavy Metal.... listen to Eternal Champion and you'll forget the shitty 90's metal ever happened.
Highly recommended.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Definitely a cool cover!
Quoted from Foxxstone_80:We went over to visit my wife's aunt. Started talking about records for some reason and she pulled out a stack and offered them to me. Can't beat free!
[quoted image]
Wow! Usually when they are free they are a bunch of Lawrence Welks. Those are actually all good. Great score!
I just started my estate sale for records today....holy cow!!! It is the BIGGEST COLLECTION I have ever seen. I would guesstimate around 100,000 records. Seriously.
Quoted from Fulltilt:That would be pretty crazy. How long do you anticipate the auction to go? That's a thousand 100 record lots.
3 days. It will be packed to the gills with lines. We know every big buyer in the area. It should be awesome. There are enough records to start your own store!
I'm enjoying stranahan's and Colorado gold whilst spinning a few plates. I can't picture all (since I have been working at home and spinning most of the day), but here are a few...AC/DC back in black, Aerosmith greatest hits, Dark Shadows, voices of soul, Wynton marsalis, the Batman theme by the marketts, billy jack soundtrack, Ghost Impera, queen a kind of magic, AC/DC who made who, stone temple pilots core, Radiohead OK computer, and the cure 17 seconds.
For those keeping track: Yes, I realize I have spun a few of these in the last couple of weeks. Yes, I have a collection of a couple thousand. No, I don't care if I double-dipped on a couple LPs.

If anyone is interested, I will be doing massive discounts on records at my estate sale tomorrow. We still have approximately 100,000. PM me if interested.
Quoted from zombywoof:I used to have that “Brain Salad Surgery” ELP record, but it has disappeared along the years. I may have to reacquire a copy.
I may have a second copy. I will look.
Quoted from zombywoof:I saw Chick Corea with Béla Fleck in a smallish theatre in late 2019, shortly before COVID shut things down. I imagine it was among his final live shows. It is not a combination that seems likely, but the two really had a great symbiosis. I still remember Chick reaching into the piano and bending strings just like a guitar player might. What a great musician he was.
I remember he won a lot of Grammys, so I just looked it up.
27. He won 27 Grammys! Wow! What a legend
Quoted from gonzo73:Atomic Punk !
[quoted image][quoted image]
Shouldn't you be asleep?
Quoted from gonzo73:Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush, Tales of the Unexpected.
OG Japan press.
In 1979 Frank was in our neighborhood Guitar God argument's .... Townshend, Eddie, Blackmore, Schenker, Frank, Nugent, Iommi, and Page were the candidates for greatest guitarist.
I've still got my brothers beat up vinyl copy somewhere....
[quoted image][quoted image]
No Hendrix?
Question to the thread:
I am interested in adding to my vinyl collection, so what do you consider 'must have' records?
Quoted from Gov:I think every person in this thread will give you different answers
That's what I'm hoping for. I'm looking for suggestions.
Quoted from Gov:Well then, these are the albums I enjoy and listen to the most.
Supertramp - Breakfast in America
Genesis - Selling England by the Pound or A Trick of the Tail
Daft Punk - Tron Legacy Soundtrack
David Bowie - Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust
The Beatles - Revolver
Beastie Boys - Pauls Boutique
Modern stuff:
Hayley Williams - Petals for Armor
Radiohead - The Bends
The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Polygondwanaland
You gave me some to look into. Thank you!
Quoted from guitarded:Go out and grab Colemine Records : Soul Slabs Vol I
NOW!
(There's a 15% off sale at the Colemine Records Store / Plaid Room Records that ends at midnight?)
Just bought it! Thank you!
Quoted from gonzo73:Haha! Living the Life !
Just hooked up my original Intellivision, listening to Animals and flying a B-17.
Intellivoice!
[quoted image][quoted image]
Classic!
Quoted from guitarded:Looking forward to your impressions. The Red RSD version is hands down the best RSD purchase I ever made.
Impressions? It's fucking fantastic. I wish I would have known about it years ago. I am going to be looking for volumes 2 and 3 next.
Smooth yet gritty. Underground sounds of funk, R&B, and soul.
Reagan Youth - Youth anthems for the new order
Canadian pressing on red vinyl
*I will not include the pic due to the cover being offensive to some, but feel free to 'Google it' if you are interested
Quoted from dirkdiggler:Todays thrift shop finds.
[quoted image]
Wow! That's one hell of a find for a thrift store. Ours down here are RAVAGED. There are never any decent records, much less good ones.
I haven't opened Black Sabbath yet, but I figured I would post it since vid mentioned it. I will listen to it tonight, however.
PXL_20221011_211204291 (resized).jpgPXL_20221011_185231345 (resized).jpgPXL_20221011_185144911 (resized).jpgPXL_20221011_185138212 (resized).jpgPXL_20221011_185129686 (resized).jpgQuoted from Chitownpinball:I have that Zep album under Amy! Mines pretty trashed cover wise though. My dad's records all got wet.
Physical graffiti. 180 gram vinyl repressing. Today's technology is vastly superior, so if I can get a quality re-pressing...I will.
PXL_20221018_223621135 (resized).jpgQuoted from meSz:Love this album with the exception of side 3. Some great writing lyrically and musically!
Queen is one of my favorite all-time bands. I'm not really sure if anyone has noticed on here, but I've been going through all their albums and sharing them on here... building with anticipation for my queen platinum set which is supposed to arrive very soon.
Quoted from gonzo73:Innuendo had to be edited down for a single 1 LP vinyl release in 1991.
Have they remedied this ? Is your copy a new pressing?
Edit, just looked it up, the new version is 2 LP full album....
Now I gotta pick it up.
My copy is a new 180g reissue. Just 1 LP, however
It has arrived!!

I probably would get this except I already own 13 of their 15 studio albums, several greatest hits and live albums, and now this epic 6 LP set. It is an awesome compendium, however.
Quoted from Dee-Bow:Do you have a favorite KG album i should look out for? Headed to the record store tomorrow and probably grabbing Omnium.. they have so many lp's already..i cant get 'em all
Nonagon Infinity is widely considered their best studio album.
Polygondwanaland is another great one that you may look into.
If those aren't available (or if you are wanting a greater range of songs), I would suggest one of their live albums. San Francisco 2016 and Bonnaroo 2022 are both pretty popular.
Quoted from Gov:I don't think Bonnaroo '22 is out on vinyl yet. Early '23 is the earliest I have seen for a release date. Don't want him hunting for something that isn't out there yet. San Fran '16 is pretty easy to find.
It is and it isn't. You can find bootlegs of it or it can be downloaded/bootlegged already:
https://kinggizzardandthelizardwizard.com/release/live-at-bonnaroo-22
I don't believe the "official" vinyl release is out yet, even though they have given it up to public domain.
Quoted from Dee-Bow:Do you have a favorite KG album i should look out for? Headed to the record store tomorrow and probably grabbing Omnium.. they have so many lp's already..i cant get 'em all
I have to know what you got at the record store. Please share.
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
This was my morning wake up record. Classic in every way.
Harry Styles - Fine line
This was my daughter's record that she insisted I listen to. Overall, not my style. The titular song (Fine line) is easily the best of the bunch...but imo, Harry Styles only has 1 great song (that I am aware of, at least), and that is "Sign of the times"
I've been slacking on the record pics lately, but I've still been listening. My Christmas discs have been seeing heavy rotation here lately. I will try to get some pics up
Quoted from Fulltilt:Who’s your listening buddy??
[quoted image]
I'm sorry, but if you put a dog in a pic...you are getting an instant upvote from me!
Great listening buddy!!
Quoted from BlackBelt:Nice…curious if thats the newest pressing or not…can you relay whats etched in the runout?
It was a gift, and I haven't opened it yet, but it says 2012 and "Made in Germany"
