Cool selection. Love The Jam. I'm sure what they included for The Gift came out of left-field for those (like me) more used to their earlier work. Nonetheless, this includes one of their best tracks: Town Called Malice.

Thanks Rampton. As you can see i am mainly into the funky-disco-soul, But that Jam lp has been on my list for 30 something years now. I went to a record fair and saw it for 10$, i didn't bite.
An hour later, in a1 dollar box, I found this very nice copy

Speaking of record fairs, it is getting harder and harder to find bargains since Discogs has made every record owner into gold diggers.
I left a bit disillusioned and 80$ lighter for the above.

#4906 4 months ago

Nice!

That Castor Bunch LP sounds great. They did a good job on that Reissue.

If you dig that stuff, checkout the Colemine Record Label. Lots of amazing modern Soul / Funk.

I sell at a lot of shows and yeah, lots of LPs are priced properly these days. The days of finding gems at shows is pretty much gone...but there should always be good values to be found.

Typically I price at Discogs Value (for condition and release) minus 20%, for anything truly valuable.

But, I also clean every LP I sell on an MW-1 w/ l'Art du son and a Distilled Water Rinse. Then everything is sleeved in a MFSL type sleeve and slipped in a new outer. It adds a lot to value, imo.

At least people who buy my stuff can throw their new LPs straight onto their decks and not worry about fouling their Cartridge.

Guitarded, People like you are in short supply over where i live in europe. My impression from the recent shows i've been to is that prices are plus 20% or so compared to Discogs average.

Sellers like you are really nice. sleeved and cleaned LP's gets my thumbs up.
I met 2 really nice sellers today. No matter the cost, vinyls brings people together in a positive way. Today was no exception.

Ah! - I just assumed it was the Re because it looked so clean...
Rare bird to find one of the originals in clean condition.
Though, with Dynaflex you never know how it will sound.
Could sound clean?
Could sound like a bowl of Rice Krispies?
Dynaflex.

Some great songs on this album. Nice to listen to while I clean and wax some games.

Back to basics to start off the evening...
1977 Specialty Records Pressing -

The acoustic lead fills on this copy pretty much step into the room with you. Really impressive. Jimmy and his Tele sound incredible as always. But the detail in the acoustic pieces really stands out in this mastering.

My lifelong tinnitus is a direct result of standing in front of the speaker column at their '77 concert in Greensboro. It was Bonham's birthday IIRC.
That's why I needed some Klipschorns... so it would overcome the buzzing. (:

Wow lots of great posts since the last time I checked in. Picked up a couple of new ones today. Got lucky with a $1 Hank Williams.

I just discovered them recently, picked up a couple LPs (Monophonics, Black Market Brass and Neal Francis) -- loving all three!

If you get a chance Grab their Sampler from RSD. Vol I might be the best LP set RSD ever put out. They re-released it on BlackVinyl as well, so easy to find.

Also, I can't endorse the Black Pumas LP highly enough.

I'll keep an eye out for it!

Yeah, the Black Pumas are what originally got my attention. I picked up all their 45s too, got a couple record reviewer friends hooked on 'em.

Plaid Room Records / Colemine has a good website and great customer service. Run by 2 brothers in Ohio. Nice guys. Great shop.

I buy just about everyting they put out.

For a vinyl club, I realized a shortage of what your vinyl starts with. What’s got your ear?

I have been running Soundsmith Carts for the last 2-3 years. At least on my main rig. MC/MI Star and a Carmen II.

I have a handful of classic carts for the vintage rigs...Shure, Stanton, Pickering, Grado. I like to mix it up on the older bayonet arms.

#4937 4 months ago

I bought a Nagaoka M110 to fill in for my ClearAudio Virtuoso when the stylus went bye bye. I haven’t felt the need to get a re-tip or a new cartridge and it’s been over a year. Pretty solid for $125.

Been using this cart for about a year also. Pleasantly surprised how well it sounds.

MP110 is the actual model, my bad. Yeah I keep looking at new ones but then just end up buying more vinyl instead.

I have a spare copy of Soul Slabs Vol 1 on Red Vinyl, here...

But it is likely 2 x the cost of a new (re) one on Black Vinyl.

(Two, actually. One is sealed though and has been archived for future use.)

I know that's true. Red copies of vol 1 & 2 should be here any day.

I have been running Soundsmith Carts for the last 2-3 years.

I had The Soundsmith repair an old Dokorder (Remember the King Biscuit Flower Hour) reel to reel for me many years ago. It came back better than new. Talked to Peter Ledermann there at the time. What a sharp guy!! Those carts must be great!
