Herbie Mann. I don't know how I got into his stuff but I own a LOT of his records and it's hard to go wrong. I'm a sucker for flute. Him and Bobbie Humphrey. I don't question, I just buy.

One of his better albums.
Of my one dollar catch, Visage was among.
A surprisingly good album. Very original. New Wave, post punk style, from 1980. Very early movers.

Or Martin!

Thanks! You’re right. I had never heard of them, and the album is great.
Quoted from guitarded:Finally got this little AR project finished up and running. Billie Holiday sounds splendid.[quoted image][quoted image]
Wow! Beautiful.

Where did you get that nice big plinth? Make it yourself? I’ve not seen an AR that thick.
Thanks for the compliments, guys. I really dig restoring old turntables. Something to do over the winters up here.
Yeah - Custom Mahogany Pinth on that little thing.
I got it and another 2 motor model in a trade for an old Bogen Tube Pre that I had in the basement.
2 AR projects with unfinished plinths and 2 Mayware Formula IV Tonearms.
Guy did a better than ok job on the Plinths. A few corners pinned here and there...but he did it right where he had to.
But they are pretty rough stock. Takes forever to get them butter smooth. I am about to start on the 2 Motor Model this weekend.
Looks like you have some PS Audio down there. I had a PS Audio digital/analog converter that was very nice.
Quoted from Rondogg:I have a collection of several hundred old prog and jazz fusion albums. Are they worth anything? Camel, gentle giant, starcastle, bill bruford, steve howe, mark oconnor, pat methaney, etc.. I can write down a more complete list.
Likely, yes. How well did you take care of them?
Discogs.com is the place to check them for value.
Yeah - That's my GCA Power Amp. Greatness.
Spent 14 years or so in my system (Powered ON!) before I had a single hiccup. They rebuilt the whole thing for like $400 and it has been like new since.

I have a Mober DC power supply and motor for my Linn LP12. It has great reviews....
But it is hard to convince myself to replace the working original motor and Lingo power supply.
Quoted from Fulltilt:But it is hard to convince myself to replace the working original motor and Lingo power supply.
Might be worth it to swap them out and recondition the original.
Then, decide if you want to go back or just put the original up for the future / hold for resale?
Quoted from Fulltilt:Anybody else do the Time Life thing back in the day?[quoted image]
I have Time Life's Classical Thunder on CD, does that count? Still comes up on random play on occasion and it's still great. I did a quick search and it doesn't seem like it was released on vinyl. Vinyl wasn't hip in 1994 I guess.
Not Time Life, but I have had a bunch of Reder's Digest Boxes through the years. Lotta good cheap(!) jazz to be had in these old subscription sets.

I used to have one of those.
I gave it away years ago.
Stupid idiot
Yours is very nice!!!!

Quoted from Chisox:Johnny The Fox! Great album.
Thin Lizzy Live Life is a great album.

I'm wanting some Thin Lizzy vinyl!!
Quoted from guitarded:Why didn't you say so!?
Well hell. Give me a list! Whiskey In The Jar is a must.
Quoted from Fulltilt:Well hell. Give me a list!
That would be a daunting task...
I'd sooner do a TZ Playfield swap!
I have that live set that was posted above. No shit, your Herbie LPs were sitting next to them while I was gathering packing supplies.

LOL! I did an AFM playfield swap... close!
If you run across some Lizzy vinyl, no kidding, please send a list and condition if possible.
Quoted from Fulltilt:chisox, you gotta’ turn this up on these.

I have the opening break from "Love Song" chopped and looped up and have used that for quite a bit of scratch practice.
Quoted from Fulltilt:This really tests the bass response..
like no other I have.[quoted image]
A lot of people use his records for "reference" when mixing and mastering hip hop and pop. He's got the bass down. Another good one is Beastie Boys "Hold it Now, Hit It". I'm sure Dre learned a LOT from Rick Reuben's mixing work.
And one more Frank....
Edit: I can’t recommend these new Zappa/Mothers represses enough. Nice thick vinyl that’s dead quiet and I’m not sure if they remastered them, but they sound incredible. Burnt Weenie Sandwich sounds like they’re playing in my basement...which would be pretty badass.

The ones included on the Old Masters sets were, bet these were too. The Old Masters were supposedly remastered and edited by Zappa.

Thanks Don. It’s amazing how great these sound next to my *gasp* CDs. Shhh don’t tell anyone.
Spinning the Sundazed Mono Steppenwolf Re that came out on RSD Black Friday this year. Amazing pressing.
Man, I wish everything Sundazed put out sounded this huge.
