Who else remembers the Dregs? Steve Morse burning the guitar.
Used to catch them in Chapel Hill back... well way back...

Saw the 40th Anniversary shows in Boulder a couple years ago. They still brought it...

I remember the salesman at HI-FI Hutch playing the Emerson, Lake and Palmer LP for me and a friend through a Crown power amp and some big speakers. He bragged about the clean power of the Crown amp and cranked it up at our request while Tank was playing, then went to take a phone call. It hit the most powerful spot in the song (you know the spot) as he came back into the demo room, just in time for him to see smoke puff out the front of both speaker grilles as the voice coils fried. We thanked him and left.

Man I grew up absolutely hating Chicago because all I ever heard as a kid was that "If you leave me now" easy-listening song (which I still hate), but wow their first album is so much better than that!

Side 1 & 2. Wow

Not sure if anyone has heard of these guys but they’re really great. Tom Petty’s fave band before he passed. They opened for him and he produced a couple of their albums. Ladies and gents, the Shelters!

I was surprised to see they still have some unnumbered copies of #34 for sale on that site. That’s an amazing set for sure.

They must be good, because the Rolling Stones asked for them by name: Gimme Shelter.

That's one of the reasons the band IF was so great. (See my previous post #808 in this thread).

Raymond Scott RSD black friday album arrived in the mail today, big thanks to guitarded for picking it up for me and sending it over! Raymond Scott is probably best known for his song "powerhouse" which was used extensively in the classic Looney Tunes cartoons. He's also an electronic music pioneer, who got Bob Moog started building electronics way back when.

I recently joined VMP to get some of the cool records that I've seen posted here. I am a bit surprised by the slow shipping and slow support response time though. Ordered a sale Slits album about a month ago and it still hasn't shipped. I jumped onto the Run DMC release but that has not shipped either. Can any of you other members please tell me if this is always normal, or normal around the holidays?

Slits - Cut ?

#4680 4 years ago

No, they had for sale return of the giant slits. But now it's not showing up on their sale page. I have Cut though, it's really good. I bought this one (too late now) as a Christmas present for someone else. Curious to know about other experiences with Vinyl Me Please service.

Not normal. They just changed over their fulfillment center and ran into a Huge problem. ALL orders shipped were shipping the Item Quantity Squared.

If you ordered 1, fine.
If you ordered 2, they sent 4.
If you ardered 3, they sent 9.
...

It has been a mess over there and Customer Service has been swamped with complaints/problems for the last 3 weeks.

They are usually a great outfit with 24-36 hour resolution of most issues. I'd try contacting Customer Service directly through the website again, they will get back to you and they will resolve your problem. I have never had anything but good luck with them, so I am willing to cut them some slack though.

Never heard of that site, I do all of my vinyl wheelin and dealin at discogs.

VMP is a record club. They do a lot of boutique Limited Edition Pressings on color vinyl. Been doing more and more AAA releases as well.

Discogs is a great resource as well as a good marketplace. Lotta great sellers on there.

I also get a LOT of vinyl from Elusivedisc.

I have just started using discogs. And becoming a big fan. I only by albums I already enjoy. So this makes it very easy to catalog and find items on my want list.

I've been using discogs marketplace for about 5 years, and I've yet to get burned on a transaction. I've come close, and dealt with some flakey people who were straight up lying about when they shipped stuff and whatnot, but in the end I've always ended up getting what I ordered. My advice would be to stick to sellers that have a high volume and a score of 99 or above. It also pays to check a sellers feedback to see if they are making a lot of excuses, this would have saved me a few headaches.

Forgot I even had this one.

Some great baby blue vinyl.

I got turned onto this band from the "Lets talk about Punk" thread. And they just recently played a show locally. Good timing!

I see your cleaning products on the left. So What is your method for cleaning your albums?

I usually just lightly dust them with a microfiber cloth.

Discwasher for the past 45 years.
Discwasher fluid is near gone so I have various refills.

I hand cleaned for years. Finally broke down and bought a VPI MW-1 and could not recommend a vac cleaner enough.

Of course, the size of your collection and how much you bring in would dictate need. But man, huge difference.

#4696 4 years ago

Thank you gentlemen. I will scope out a discwasher.

#4697 4 years ago

If you are gonna hand clean, 2 MFSL type Brushes, a one-step cleaning solution and a distilled water mix works well.

Work on a towel, reserving 1/2 for clean sides and 1/2 for dirty.

Keep one brush clean for rinses and the other a dedicated dirty brush.

Denim works well for cleaning your dirty brush while wet. Also a toothbrish to keep the nap up.

I just run the Discwasher around the album every time I play it.
Grab a beer or 3 and listen to the music.

I had one of those for years and after one move or another I realized I lost it, I've got a modern day rip off of it, but the thing that bothers me is that none of the modern ones have the hollowed out inside to hold the fluid.
