Really obsessed with Gerry Rafferty lately. The sax solo from Baker Street will randomly fire off in my brain.

Finally got the vinyl on eBay for 99 cents. The seller sent me 2 copies for some reason (I’m not complaining!)

Quoted from Thunderpants:

keep the speakers free
Allow me to say this;
I prefer the speakers away from the tv. i also prefer a less...dominant tv.
i have a 22 inch tv with 5 channels

When Pantera is on the screen, the TV is never too dominate. (:

Is that a 12" 45? I have a cool GnR 12" 45, I swear it sounds better than the 33 1/3. It's also the only official (I think?) release on vinyl that has Whole Lotta Rosie until recently. The new super deluxe whatever one has it, and they made it sound like some never released track. It's been around forever on bootlegs, but this is the first Geffen pressing I've seen. Anyway, great find on the Prince.

12" Singles (Cut at 45) are generally as good as you will find for fidelity.

For those Sturgill Fans above, VMP is doing a Ltd Edition Color Version of the New LP. Limited to 1500, I think. Looks killer.

#4413 9 months ago

The Ghostbusters SCORE (not the soundtrack, the score) is being done by Mondo and went on sale today for pre-order. Limited run, and they say they're only doing it once.

When I’m not busy working on or playing some pinball, just a few favorites. Only 25 more versions of Synchronicity to go...... ;p

How doess that Art of Noise re. sound?

The OP has always been a real jaw dropper on my system.

VMP Al Green Reissues tonight. They did a real nice job on these.

Ooops. thought I'd found another version but I was looking at the back!

#4426 9 months ago

seriously 25 versions I had no idea. If I owned even a single version it would be playing right now. Instead I'm going with an old forgotten jazz favorite Jonah Jones. Highly recommended most times he's found in the dollar section. He just never had that Louis Armstrong big hit.

I ordered both limited and numbered re releases of In Visible Silence and In No Sense Nonsense. The vinyl mastering is top notch and sound every bit as good if not better than my original pressings, the only other vinyl in my collection that sounds better is my MFSL Half speed master pressing of Dark Side of The Moon! The second disc of each release has remixes and unreleased material. Highly recommend both! It’s really hard to find a perfectly engineered vinyl and what a treat it is when you hear one!

36 Standard color banded versions. There are a couple monochrome and special metallic banded versions but those were special regional releases. I’m concentrating on the 36 for now and at the current pace I will have them all in the next 5 years if I don’t actively hunt them down.

Yep, the blue, red and yellow banded versions seem to be the easiest to find (at least for me on the west coast) did you know that the vinyl is translucent when held to the light? Original pressings were pressed on purple, purple-blue to brown audiophile vinyl. It’s a great way to know if it is original because club and re releases were pressed on normal black. A couple of Stings solo albums are also pressed on translucent grayish to brownish vinyl when held to the light.

Those are the Quiex Formulation. Not all of the pressings were done in Quiex/Quiex II. But the Promos usually were.

Spent the morning dipping into the Classical Discs. Reminds me that I never listen to enough classical music.

Not exactly vinyl but saw Frampton tonight along with Jason Bonham. Great show, they both slayed it!

Pulled a few Mono Jazz titles from the 'Just In' box at a local and got them cleaned up for tonight's listening;
The Poll Winners Ride Again - Kessel, Manne and Ray Brown
Gerry Mulligan - The Paris Concert
Milt Jackson - Live at the Village Gate
Herb Ellis and Joe Pass - Two for the Road

Intervention Records

Joe Jackson : Look Sharp!

If you are a fan of Post Punk, or Joe Jackson at all these Intervention Reissues are such a huge improvement it's kinda silly.

Phantogram - Three

Perfect balance of crisp highs, tight resonant bass even on the innermost tracks and super quiet white vinyl to boot, makes my Ortofon M2 Red sing to its full potential!
