I just found my Nirvana "Sliver" 7" tonight that I got signed by the band at the free record release show they played when Nevermind came out! I thought maybe this had gotten stolen at a party, but it was with a pile of records in a bin buried under comics and zines. The free show was about 10 blocks from my apartment at the time and I'd seen Nirvana a few times locally and they hadn't broken big yet. My girlfriend thought the show was too crowded and left halfway through their set to go to the bar across the street (The Blue Moon Tavern, where Jimi Hendrix was known to play back in the day). After the band played, they hung out in the parking lot and signed records for about an hour. It's funny, I also had a bootleg 7" and asked them to sign it. Kurt wrote in big letters "I hate fucking bootlegs" and punched a hole through the cover in the center with his pen and then signed it. I sold it for $18 a few months later. That would probably be worth at least $1,000 now. No idea how much this would be worth, but I'm framing it an putting it on the wall.
