local wine sampling / sidewalk sale and the record store put a few boxes of old stuff on the side walk. I found a few gems with in the 10 boxes or so. My wife shook her head, a few times, but was happy that I was happy.

I just found my Nirvana "Sliver" 7" tonight that I got signed by the band at the free record release show they played when Nevermind came out! I thought maybe this had gotten stolen at a party, but it was with a pile of records in a bin buried under comics and zines. The free show was about 10 blocks from my apartment at the time and I'd seen Nirvana a few times locally and they hadn't broken big yet. My girlfriend thought the show was too crowded and left halfway through their set to go to the bar across the street (The Blue Moon Tavern, where Jimi Hendrix was known to play back in the day). After the band played, they hung out in the parking lot and signed records for about an hour. It's funny, I also had a bootleg 7" and asked them to sign it. Kurt wrote in big letters "I hate fucking bootlegs" and punched a hole through the cover in the center with his pen and then signed it. I sold it for $18 a few months later. That would probably be worth at least $1,000 now. No idea how much this would be worth, but I'm framing it an putting it on the wall.

Sometimes you just feel like playing a little air guitar. This is about as close to guitar nirvana as it gets for me.

Don’t get no better.

A favorite from Dire Straits, recommended pick up if you don't have it.

This might be the best New Release of the Year.

Colemine Records keeps putting out amazing modern Soul / Funk LPs. Great label.

Nice Thread, btw.

I missed the first pressing boat on that black pumas by 1 day. Was pissed and got 2nd pressing direct from label on black & red vinyl. Does not look nearly as cool but still glad to have it nonetheless. I've been trying to buy at least 1 new vinyl per week.

Felt like cranking up the Jukebox. Currently, listening to the King, Good Luck Charm. Next up Mojo Hand Lightnin Hopkins.

Time to get some more.

New album is out, my first listen going on now.

The first video for this album is fun and its a teaser for a whole 41 minute movie on Netflix that just released as well.
Going to watch the Netflix movie thing tonight.

I tried 'A Sailor's Guide' and couldn't get into it. Don't know that I will risk this one.

Got a nice Box of LPs from VMP this week. Blakey, Dolphy, Rollins and some Al Green. Oh, and an Electric Ladyland Anniversary box set.

Good week.

Here’s a poll question.. vinyl independent..

Do you prefer your speaker grills on or off?
(The rug makes the room...)

IMHO, Off.
I've always preferred the 'naked' look to speakers.

Covered. Dust and sunlight are not your speaker's friends.

The difference isn't that much, but definitely better with mine off.
Ain't no sunshine where mine are and the dust is removable.

The rug does hold the room together. I'll have to try grills off, never really thought about it.

I have similar speakers and I love the look of them off, but I always end up putting them back on. I blame the kids, and pets, and probably mostly another thing to store somewhere. I haven't done a sound comparison. The kids are a little older, grills might have to go in the attic.

I usually leave 'em on but with the right amount of my preferred ergoline alkaloids I swear they sound better off. Which is funny, because my ears are absolutely hammered.

Haven't listened to it yet but my cousin texted me, "This new Sturgil album sounds like he was drinking White Claw when he made it." Now I'm even more curious.

Depending if there are kids around or not...they are often tempted to touch the HP.

#4397 54 days ago

I don't have what I consider to be a vinyl "collection". I just simply "have my old records in a box". But I finally opened the box and got some hung on the wall as decoration. I don't have a functioning turntable, so I haven't heard these in years. Maybe this will inspire me to start hearing the old scratchiness again...

Here's my recent thread about hanging these as decorations on the wall:
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/i-hung-my-vinyl-albums-as-decoration#post-5229656

I visit this thread every once in a rare while and figured you vinyl fans would enjoy.

My speakers are Audio Note AN-Ks and they do not come with grills or have inserts for them to be installed. I never had a problem with them... until my July 4th party this year when a 4 year old decided to poke her finger in on the tweeters and woofers.
Took it to my dealer and they repaired them the same day free of charge but I was sweating pretty hard there for a bit....
