Nice... been looking to get some SRV

#4203 4 years ago
Quoted from pacmanretro:

Threw about 225 50s-60s 45s on FB marketplace for $55.
Idk that there are many super hot songs in mix, but mostly doo-wop or pop albums in the mix. all in sleeves (mostly original sleeves)and pretty nice shape.
Anybody local has an interest in picking up, feel free to make an offer.
Pic of some of them.
Looking to sell box, not cherry pick.
I have SOOO many more....just haven't gotten to them in forever.

$45 ??

You did well.

It's difficult to find bargains in flea markets these days.
All the good stuff has been combed out already.
I am a little sad over the state of the vinyl scene, at least in Europe. I guess it's not too different from pinball, surfing and so on.
A lot of people in it only for the money now

Last scream from lisboa
Brazil disco and post punk
And Donna Summer, for one euro

I have NO idea on pricing 50s original 45s....I figured at about 5 for a dollar, people would be interested in a mix up of music....is this too much?

I honestly guessing 70s 80s rock is much hotter, as it is for me too.

Any suggestions guys?

#4207 4 years ago

A little beat up but for $4 had to give it a listen.

I didn't say how much I paid! I think they were all $10 each. Considering the condition of the jackets, I may have paid too much. Raising Hell is in rough shape. The other 2 are pretty good. Neither Run DMC has a liner, just a plastic cover. All 3 of the actual albums looked great though. Looking forward to cleaning them up and giving them a spin.

If the vinyl looks good, that's really what matters. An outer cover in descent shape is nice.
I keep a pack of sleeves around. It's nice to protect an original sleeve from getting damaged by putting the record in a new one. Also works great for those you find that don't have one.

No you didn't, but you found worthy vinyls!

I have more or less stopped browsing records in flea-markets for the reasons i wrote earlier.
I wouldn't mind paying 10$ for Run DMC.

I believe I have these exact ones, they are great. I don't mind replacing the sleeve, but I do like to read the liner notes while listening, and those are missing as well.

looking for some help in selecting a turntable.
Curious to what you have and why?
Looking to keep it under $300

Please help provide recommendations.
Looking forward to this.

I'm currently using a Fluance RT81 (https://www.fluance.com/rt81-high-fidelity-vinyl-turntable-record-player-with-premium-cartridge-diamond-needle) and am very happy with it. I also have a Technics SL-D2 also but it started giving me trouble and so it's on the bench waiting for some of my free time (hah!).

I'm planning to upgrade to this at Christmas this year: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07N3W8B5M
I want to be able to play my 78's, so that narrows my choices somewhat.

That’s to funny, because that’s one I was steering to. But just didn’t know how good it was.

At the $300 price point I would look for a 70's era table that works. Something like a Dual 1216, Technics SL 1200, or Marantz 6100. Check audio repair stores in your area, they often carry older gear that works well. Also check ebay.

#4224 4 years ago

Sharing today's trip to Back Door Records. It's a hole in the wall but a lot of stuff to look through!

NEW Prince.
Took all their Velvet Underground.
Added Tom Tom Club.

It was a nice afternoon!

Which would be better?
AR XA $300
Marantatz 6110 $275
Dual CS4000 $425
Kenwood KD-5033 $280
Technics SL-1200MK2 $400
Audio technics LP120x $250 new

Thoughts?

#4227 4 years ago

I’m on the turntable minimalist side.

I had an AR XA. Loved it and if it’s in good working condition that would be my choice. You have to expect no frills, only great sound.
(And it’s easily customized as you go to add high end arms.)

I would go Marantz or Technics. Both are very good with a solid arm and cartridge.

Anyone have a good suggestion for a Indie album? I tend to steer more towards the colored vinyl.

My tastes are on the The War on Drugs... Tame Impala bands.

Thanks

Anyone played the BKSoR or TNA records yet? Any other pinball vinyl to go viral?

I've been trying to get a copy of BKSoR. Hopefully they release a normal version. The ones on ebay are asking stupid money.

$25 buy today at a yard sale. No keepers in the record pile besides a album of one of my favorite comic duos of all time. Never owned it before. Also the clockwork Orange is classic artwork. Nice stack of 80s 45s also. Take off you Hoser
