Moving through the Old Masters.
Watch out where the huskies go and don’t you eat that yellow snow!

I need to have a Zappa night. Also, please feel free to take more pics of the McIntosh gear. You’re running it through Klipsch right? Are they vintage or newer models? Thinking about swapping out my speakers.

Edit: oh Judas Priest I just scrolled up and saw the RF-7s. Nevermind. Obviously posting in the bourbon thread too.

Wow!!! Kick ass. That’s a work of art.

#3955 4 years ago

Yes I love it - great design ... not so common to find one that is just a record player - brilliant tube sound and good power too

I’ve never seen another like it - but was lucky enough to see ONE record player like the one in my cabinet so picked it up off eBay as a spare

Have put a fair bit of work into it but well worth it to me - refinished the cabinet, oil and beeswax to the wood, replaced the needle with a period Correct new one, swapped out a new 2 inch drive belt, repainted the atomic gold metal legs and re-soldered some wires etc etc

A nice contrast to my mid 70s pioneer set up

On the admiral I like to play 50s and 60s mono records as they would’ve sounded back in the day

It’s beautiful. I’d also like to hear about the cabinet to the left and the radio on top. Very cool looking setup.

I am a habitual ‘collector’ of things I like ... along with my pinballs

Radio is a tube Bakelite zenith ‘dashboard’ from 1953

Cabinet is unknown mid century bentwood teak veneered ply - never seen another like it - weighted door and I think was a stereo cabinet with records shelf (I use it as records storage) likely German or Scandinavian mid century

I post a lot of my stuff and too many music clip videos on Instagram - rtbaron

In fact just uploading one of the admiral playing some great blues now

Cheers

This makes me want to join Instagram but my kids would make my life hell so I’ll leave it be. Beautiful setup. Cheers back at you.

I've wanted a pair of Klipshorns since my days in college but no luck. I like the RF 7s. They can handle tons of power and sound better the louder they are played.

Went to see George Clinton last night loved the opening band Galactic New Orleans sound.

Great soundtrack. I picked it up some years back. Can't remember if I ordered it or found it in the wild.

Go figure.

Looking at getting into records, new hobby etc.

Looking for recommendations on turntable, something used.

Direct drive or belt drive?
Guessing direct would be better option, just don’t know the difference w regards to performance.

Appreciate recommendations
Cheers

Today's haul. I found an antique store close to my work. Ended up extending my lunch break because of the volume of records. I found one room that was a little disappointing, picked a handful of cheap records so I didn't leave empty handed, then realized there was another room with the stuff that was more my speed. A few are in bad condition, and a few are stretches for me. $34 for the lot. At an average of $3.40 I don't mind if a couple end up heavily scratched or I don't like them.
