I know the thread is typically LPs but I recently found some decent 45s and played them last night.

Love 45's for the jukebox. Looks like you had a funky good time.

45s are great. Oddly enough, I was going to shlap some 45s into this thread but hadn't gotten around to it yet.

Sordid humor has really grown on me over the years. So unusual.

#3458 5 years ago

Since Sordid was just a short EP, I also decided to play this from 1984.

My Daughter and I visited Vanderbilt for some appointments.
Took the opportunity to visit some of the local Whiskey Bars!

You know it's a good Whisky Bar when all the tables use an empty Booker's box to hold the hot sauces.

Loving the Brave Belt cover. Don't know thAt one. Spinning another favorite, Santana's greatest hits.

Brave belt was Randy Bachman after he left the Guess Who and just before he created Bachman Turner overdrive

Apparently blacklisted in the industry when he left the guess who only a few guys would play with him – brave belt only did two albums and their third album was changed to become Bachman-Turner Overdrive‘s first

Super interesting, thank. I'll take a listen tomorrow.

I know modern reissues of older albums can be hit be hit or miss, but this ziggy stardust I picked up on clearance at target is one of the better reissues I've heard.

Looking to get back into vinyl Lp and need to build up a system. Once upon a time I had Snell E floor model speaker and really like them.

Looking for recommendations on equipment and specific models.

Ie pioneer Receiver sx-650 is that enough power to drive snells?
Type of music I would listen to classical, classic rock

Thanks for the help, I don’t really know where to start.
What should I look for in buying used equipment?

#3480 5 years ago

You looking to buy new, or are you open to used/vintage equipment?

Thinking vintage maybe late 70's analog

#3483 5 years ago

Take a look at the late 70s NAD receivers. Great build, great sound, great phono stage, still affordable compared to other vintage brands.

+1

Today Marantz, Sansui and Pioneer are over valued. I bought 2 Pioneer SX-980 receivers for about 200 each a few years ago.

#3486 5 years ago

Loving the Yamaha CR-820 the group turned me on to. Booker T never sounded better.

reverb.com is an audio marketplace that is mostly guitars but they do haveahome audio section. Here’s some vintage receivers:

Vintage Realistic receivers are still fairly cheap. Also check out Audiokarma.org lots of info and reviews.

For some reason that gave me a flashback to the Heathkit amplifiers. They were pretty cool when done right.
And definitely still a good price.

Just got this today. 5 album box set of a couple of Drive By Truckers shows that is unbelievable. If you’ve ever seen them live, you know. Included dupe CDs, a book with pictures and notes from the shows, and mini prints of the gig posters from the shows. Try to get that on Spotify. Vinyl rules.

I'm a firm believer in music as a form of communication when other methods aren't working or have yet to be established. So yes, I'd say you're doing an outstanding job of parenting.
