Quoted from dirkdiggler:

Is there a pricecharting type site to value albums besides discogs

Discogs is the my go to. I haven't found another site that tracks used vinyl. Discogs pricing is based on real world sales; so it is, at least, a reflection of what others are paying for any given release. Used vinyl prices just seem to get crazier by the day, so I will often use Discogs for price comparison when I am on the fence about something I have found in a physical store.

Quoted from dirkdiggler:

Do any of you have any rare, valuable albums?

Pretty dang hard to find and cost me a bunch.

Seems appropriate with the caravan on the move. Play some Immigrant Song.

Huge Elvis fan, picked this 8 album set up for $10 this week. Starting tonight with the Las Vegas years.

Does that weight in the center of record help a lot with the sound ?

Quoted from scampcamp:

Only with the ones from Goodwill. Aka the ones a little warped. I'm in the habit of always placing it back on but most times it's not needed. Cheap enough off Amazon.

We found a new record store in the Philipsburg Mall!

A great selection was to be found. I came home with these:

Talking about great covers (and not so much the music):

I'm sort of done with Motley Crue, but I'm a sucker for a deal. Maybe after a few drinks and the magic of vinyl some of the love will come back. Thanks for the heads up.

Now that the weather is keeping me from working on outdoor projects, I'm able to set up to get some records clean.

Eventually I'll even get the room with turntable organized enough that I won't be ashamed of posting a picture.

Sweet! If I keep buying these antique store jewels I’m going to need one of those real cleaners.

Dude, you've got the "Thunder Road" board game! My brother and I got that back in the 80s and loved it. Basically Mad Max the board game.

#3174 5 years ago

I was debating getting rid of my vinyl and replacing with a FLAC player. One of my complaints was that the vinyl is only enjoyed in one room, a FLAC could be connected to our Sonos system and played throughout the house. Also, the amount of space saved would be appealing. My wife talked me into keeping my vinyl.

I realized that you can actually connect your phono to the Sonos system, as well.. that has changed a lot for us. Now when I throw on an album, it automatically plays in that room, as well as my kitchen. Pretty neat!

As for "Thunder Road" (well spotted), the posts here got us to set up and play it for the first time in years, thoughts will be posted in the board game thread.

Nice Iggy Pop find! Think my local used spot is getting played out... they had a roached copy of The Idiot for 25 bucks. Yikes, it's available new on Amazon for 15.

Here's my latest Amazon splurge. This was my first introduction to Ween back in college and always remained one of my favorites.

It is. Just got a new needle for this. Think I probably paid about 25 bucks for it at a yard sale.

Designed/built this vinyl "art matrix" years ago...great conversation piece (held 96 albums IIRC).

Don't own the home anymore...the new owners weren't vinyl lovers, so they commissioned an artist to fill the matrix.

One day in college in 1989, I was doing my typical after class and work routine, getting stoned and wandering around the University District hitting the arcades, record stores and comic book places and the Ramones had a table set up on the street outside Tower Records and were signing autographs. I pondered trying to run home and grab "Leave Home" to get it signed, but there was virtually no one left in line and they were done in 20 minutes. So I went inside and Pet Sematary had just come out and it was the only Ramones record they had. I bought it, went out front, and ended up talking to them for a couple minutes and getting it signed. No other punk kids in sight! Totally awesome.

OK so after installing toilets and pendant lighting (huh?) in my basement tonight I said “I’m done and I’m hooking up my god damned stereo”. Enough is enough. Take it from here Clutch.
