Quoted from Chisox:Did somebody say boy-band?
Sexy boys.
I love garage sales! Especially when you see a sold sign on the front yard.
Stack of 45s. Asking $1.00 each. I offered $10 for the bundle and he accepted! Had Jack and Diane on one end and Madonna Like a Virgin on the other. 56 total and only 1 keeper. Motley Crue Girls, Girls, Girls...20180726_152642.jpg
Box of tapes at same sale. Mostly 80s rock. $7.00 for the whole box. 185 tapes total!! Grabbed a few to add to the collection. 20180726_200702.jpg

A lot of people sleep on the 12" singles. Usually they have much better sound quality than the album version and sometimes extended intros/outros/bridges/etc. Sometimes you get a nice non-album b-side too. I go to the record stores and lots of times they're like "oh yeah, I have some in a bin in the back, nobody wants them". That's where I swoop in.
Quoted from Goronic:Getting into vinyl for the first time. Decided to start with this one. Ever heard of it?
I see you are from Kernersville, NC.... and I am jealous! I can't count the number of records I own that were recorded in your neck of the woods...
Quoted from Rascal_H:I just impulse bought this Screaming Jay Hawkins album because Amazon said it was the last one and I will NOT be deprived of my Screaming Jay Hawkins and his lunatic ways.

Nice, Love Screaming Jay.

Speaking of 12" singles...just got a couple myself. Not that I would typically be cranking up Tina Turner, but I couldn't help it with the beyond thunderdome label on this one

I would not call ELP a "boy band"
Would anyone in a boy band know how to set up a MOOG modular synthesizer?

Or play a rotating piano?!

The transition out of the drum solo in Tank is one of the best organ/synthesizer runs ever.

I think you have my post confused with someone elses ELP is about the furthest thing from a boy band I can think of.
Quoted from Chisox:I think you have my post confused with someone elses ELP is about the furthest thing from a boy band I can think of.
It was sarcasm in response to Vids Boy-band post. . Sorry !
ELP was some of the decades old music I’m guilty of.... they were “boys” so technically it’s correct.
Might take some Brain Salad Surgery to get all this straight.
Quoted from yfz450:Although I agree with you about the slot order, I have to disagree with the "one hit wonder" comment. UKJ was far from a one hit wonder band. Two of their albums have gone double platinum and their album Menace to Sobriety, is in my opinion, their best album, that really never got recognized in the US.
Always been a fan and still listen to their albums regularly.
I don't dislike the band. I suppose Motorhead probably never had a "hit" on the level of Ugly Kid Joe, but the fact that they were icons, and Lemmy had lots of songwriting credit on No More Tears, it just seemed wrong. I didn't even know they had a second album, I'll have to check it out. Not sure where you are from, but in the US I hate Everything about You was huge, Cat's in the Cradle was a cover, and not nearly as big. I'm not sure if that counts. After that, they disappeared, at least from the mainstream. I do like their humor, unfortunately for them they were a few years too late.
Quoted from manitouguy:Wee wee bit of disco ... now and then [quoted image]
Fun times. There's probably no one else here remembering the North Asheville disco scene in the late 70's - early 80's.
Doc's Rock Shop was the place to be!

I picked up the first one when that came out a few years back. So good.
Quoted from Fulltilt:Is Part V where Jason gets a wedgie and seeks revenge?
That probably would have been a better setup. Part V is absolutely the worst of the series, IMO.
I’m a sucker for horror scores, though, and Waxwork never disappoints.
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:I picked up the first one when that came out a few years back. So good.
Agreed! I’ve got 1-5 so far. I even got Ted White (Jason in part IV) to sign my copy of The Final Chapter at a convention earlier this year:

Very cool copy!

Hahaha! No, he was super nice. He’s 92, so he was pretty quiet... but a very nice man, nonetheless.
Highly recommend Vinyl Moon. It’s a “record of the month club”. Indie artists served up in a vinyl playlist. Super cool album art and colored vinyl. I was skeptical that I wouldn’t like it but 7 records later and I’m now buying the back catalogue. Mostly alternative, chill, groovy.

Great find.
Gimmie Danger, the Iggy Pop documentory is on Netflix and Amazon Prime if you want to see some old footage.
Quoted from Pickle:So got my discount copy...happened to pull out this CD and couldn’t help but notice some resemblance.......long gone are the days of creative album art covers.....just a refresh of an iconic album cover.
But the new CD is pretty good.

I ordered one when the sale was posted, mine still hasn't shipped. Is the picture disc the only artwork? I was hoping it would have a regular sleeve.
When I started at this job in '09, there were three vinyl stores in my city. One, on the other side of the city, closed a couple years after I started.
The two that remained were within a half-block from my office. I went to both regularly. The larger of the two was kicked out of their location, and moved to the other side of downtown, about 3/4 mile away. This one was more of a rocker scene, and had great employees.
That left only one close to my office. It was smaller, and run by two old gentlemen that were probably around when Jazz was new. They were great, friendly, and knew their crap. I hadn't been over there in a month, dur to work issues. But decided to brave the rain for the 300ft walk to stop in.
Get over there... They're gone. No trace.
That leaves only one near me now.
Quoted from Shredso:I ordered one when the sale was posted, mine still hasn't shipped. Is the picture disc the only artwork? I was hoping it would have a regular sleeve.
Unfortunately what you see is what you get. Would have been nice.
Quoted from eagle18:I’ve got some of mine mounted on the wall in the game room with the pins. These can be changed out very easy.

And an extra +1 for the JB LPs!!
