I could probably tolerate the winter in the great white north with those to help tolerate the cold.

Gorgeous Jukes....who fixes them?

#1955 1 year ago

Vid,

Don't stop posting the great deals.

This one is on heavy rotation right now. Love his 3 previous albums that I had digitally but this one on white vinyl has so much texture.

I really miss the old Gameroom magazine articles from Bill Bickers. After every issue, I would dream of picking up a jukebox.

He's apparently still helping folks out.

My mission this summer is to find a cheap tape deck at a yard sale to add to my system so I can buy GNR Appetite and INXS Kick on cassette #lifegoals

After a good 13 year or so hiatus from vinyl (and sadly, I sold off about half of my records about 10 years ago), I went to the record store last Friday, grabbed a bunch of horror movie scores and the reissue of NIN’s The Fragile, set up my turntable (a cheap, Numark TT-1510) in the living room, and had a blast.

3DE99EDD-7125-4214-A559-C6263480A9B6 (resized).jpeg

On Saturday, I set up a permanent spot for the turntable upstairs, so that the wife doesn’t kill me. Then I preceded to spend a couple hundred more bucks online

For any other horror fans, here are two sites that will get you into trouble:

https://waxworkrecords.com/collections/vinyl

https://mondotees.com/collections/music

That's awesome you're spinning again! Also cool you're a "horror movie lp" guy! Didn't know there was such a thing! That subscription option on waxworks records website looks sweet!! I'm surprised we dont see more comedy albums on here. I remember listing to Bill Cosby stand up on vinyl when i was a kid.. funny shit

Thanks!

My dad gave me a bunch of his records several years back. I’m pretty sure I’ve got a couple of Steve Martin’s comedy albums.

I just watched Steve Martin in the jerk again. It held up awesome. What a classic! It has held the test of time. Here is a cool introduction by Steve Martin of the jerk movie,it was an AFI thing...

I know cassettes are making a comeback, but i had my fill of them in the 80s. That's one format i won't be revisiting.

Not too long ago I let go of all of my tapes.

I think I may have saved a couple but the majority are gone. That was a slight regret, but I can't save everything. And I have had some serious disaster in my life.

As it is I want a jukebox. Now. As a result of this thread, partially...

Great collection Redketchup!

I just picked up a VL200 and have a Rockola Regis I am getting ready to restore.

I’m hoping to just find a cheap one. Mostly brought on by my desire to play the TNA soundtrack and those couple I mentioned. GNR Appetite and INXS Kick were the first albums I ever bought and they were on cassette. In other words - midlife crisis.

8 Tracks were even worse. The sound quality was poor and you could not rewind or fast forward.

When I went over to listen on my friends amazing stereo i had planned to listen to genesis the lamb lies down on broadway. but, instead i listened to others requests.

There were several songs from dire straights.

It was a beautiful thing sitting in the sweet spot hearing someone elses favorite song.

#1972 1 year ago

Just received a couple of great releases from Real Gone Music.
Both sound great.
I predict X-ray Spex will sell out fairly quick.

The only cassette deck I ever had was a Nakamichi 600. It sounded great in playback but it was the devil to get set well for recordings.

I don't know...if cassettes are cool enough for minions on my frosted flakes, maybe I should embrace them again! Lol.

Found it today, took it for a spin.

I still listen to 8 tracks at the house but mostly in my 68 Camaro.
The 8 Track gets more attention than the car sometimes.

Love Johnny Marr. While he was awesome with the Smiths, my highlight for him was the 2 albums he did with "The The"

I found it at Heritage on 11th Ave. (www.heritagepostersandmusic.com). It was sitting behind the counter. I asked about it when I was paying for the others and the guy said it was sitting there because he didn't know what price he should throw on it. Just a lucky coincidence.

I moved my turntable out of the armoire cabinet so I could get easier access to it. I made an oak tabletop for the turntable and am enjoying the heck out of it.
So much easier to get to now. A little Aerosmith while I get dinner going.

IMG_8607 (resized).JPG

#1993 1 year ago

Yep. I bought one of those line phono stands a while back and easy access to the Turntable is key. I never thought it would make such a big difference but it does.

#1994 1 year ago

Back in the 70s, my homemade turntable shelf was a square of wood suspended from the ceiling with 4 corner chains. I thought it was so cool at at the time.
