I have several Van Halen albums on vinyl. Fair Warning being one of them. It blows my mind every time I spin one how great they sound. You just don't "get" or "feel" the reverb on Eddie's guitar listening to the radio or an MP3. But on vinyl, it's guttural, and it's there.

Working out some aggression tonight.

Humble Pie at the Fillmore?
I just can't get in to that album at all...
My favorite live album right now is Ten Years After: Recorded Live

I will say that Ten Years After with Going Home live at Woodstock left a permanent auditory memory in my brain.

Bill Graham's voice thanking 10 Years After after the song is classic.

What's everyone's take on picture discs or colored vinyl over all? Just curious I've heard anything but black has overall worse quality. (Sorry if this has already been discussed!)

My ears can't tell the difference.

I've never tried a comparison, but I have heard similar comments. Like the material for picture discs is more plastic like and sounds horrible (was told they really more a collectable than anything).

May all be false. Like I said, never reallt compaired, but would alao be interested in what other's think/have experienced.

Colored vinyl is fine, but picture discs supposedly are inferior. I have a Sgt. Pepper German print and it does not sound good at all.

#1864 1 year ago

I've never listened to a picture disc. I've only recently listed to colored vinyl.
The recent Solo Monk release is solid white and sounds great to me.

Totally black vinyl and sounds fantastic! (:

I have several colored discs that sound amazing. I don't own any picture discs and have heard that they sound inferior. That being said, a buddy of mine owns several and said they sound fine.

I own A LOT of pic discs and yes, they definitely sound inferior...

#1870 1 year ago

I have colored discs and they sound fine, I just wanted to see if anyone could actually hear the difference there. I have one picture disc and it doesn't sound as good as the colored copy I have of the same album, but I don't recall it sounding all that awful, but it's been awhile since I spun it.

I've got a unique take on this because I do a lot of scratch DJing and I'm many times harder on the records than somebody who's just playing them. Generally, I've found is that black vinyl holds up better, but that's not always the case. I think it really comes down to "it depends on the pressing." I can definitely say that I have a lot of colored vinyl has picked up pops and clicks faster, and burns out considerably faster. In some cases I've got the same record in both black and colored vinyl and the colored vinyl just wears out way faster. With some records though, the colored vinyl seems to hold up just as well as the black vinyl. Go figure.

Picture discs, on the other hand, clearly don't fare as well as normal records (black or color).

Sweet set up. I bought the Okki Nokki a year or so ago. Worthy investment for getting your old vinyl back to sounding great.

#1883 1 year ago

I’m genuinely surprised and impressed at the difference it makes. I had so much crackle and pop. Mostly gone now. Highly recommend

One of the best southern rock jam bands I've ever seen. Including Skynyrd and Wet Willie same year.

I saw Marshall Tucker at a hockey arena at Clarkson U. in northern NY in 1977. I have to agree that they along with the Allman Brothers were the best southern rock concerts I have been to.

Not exactly related to vinyl, but relevant. Here's what happens when your Boston terriers get in a fight with yout AR's...

I'm not so sure a "thumbs up" is the right response.
I mean, I'm pretty sure it wasn't funny when it happened.

But it's kind of funny
