Quoted from Fulltilt:

If anyone listens to "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and calls it grandpa music they need to take another listen!

Great song though it has a false guitar god on the solo....yeah I like Clapton but he is far from a guitar god.

I think that was from a horror movie if my memory serves me right.

I liked Britney Fox's first album.

#1755 1 year ago

I hear you on the Clapton thing. Not in the same league w/Hendrix, Beck , Page etc.............He is good, not my cup of tea nor a god..........

#1756 1 year ago

I was always in the Roy Buchanan camp for one of the best..

#1757 1 year ago

I know most Pinsiders hate the Beatles and look at them as "grandpaw's music" but you can get a picture disc of Sgt. Pepper's for $20 today!
Don't turn it up too loud, or you won't be able to hear if there's kids playing on your lawn.

Thanks for the heads up! Tempting even though I have the original with the intact cardboard cutouts.

There has been a notable lack of Springsteen. Clarence Clemons was incredible.

I was in Asbury Park the night Clarence passed. I wish I could say I was there for better reasons, but I was taking my wife to see Marina and the Diamonds at the Stone Pony. We did go to Silverball afterwards though!

Picked up the RSD release of Nebraska a couple years back, it will always be my favorite of his.

Bummer about O'Riordan, but she knew the deal. Salvation is free.

Funny.... we just watched "The Life and Times of Steve Marriott" last night.

I got to see them in 1980 with ZZ Top.

Is it possible to get more talent on an album?
Clarke, Beck, Corea, McLaughlin, Duke.
No.

Well, woke up to 7 inches of snow this morning. Said F’ it, called off work. Made some coffee and put on some Al Stewart, before I go out and plow myself and my elderly neighbor out.

Saw Al at the Mauch Chunk Opera House in Jim Thorpe a few months back. Talented guy.

#1786 1 year ago

Only seen Al Stewart once but he was enchanting. He was opening for Dave Mason and what was left of Traffic at the Chameleon Club in Lancaster PA around '98, got to meet them all backstage after the show.

#1787 1 year ago

Know that club well. Lived in Lancaster a few years in the early 80’s when I worked for RCA.

Oh yeah, I know where the old RCA complex was out there on 23/New Holland Ave. Berle now, I think? We inherited some pretty talented engineers from them when I was working at Cardinal Technologies in the early to mid-90's, back when retail electronics were still being manufactured in the US.

#1789 1 year ago

Oh yeah Cardinal, then you must know John Troutman. He was my supervisor at RCA. I worked with most of those engineers as I was an engineering technician there.

#1790 1 year ago

There like machines .. ive been collecting for over 30 years.. uyuyuy

I do indeed remember John. We didn't work directly with each other but his cubicle was only a few over from mine. Small world...

He's one of a few from that team I've lost track of but I still keep in touch with quite a number of ex-Cardinals. It was a fascinating and dynamic place to work, like nothing I've experienced since really. We even kept a keg of Molson Golden in the lunchroom on Fridays...

#1792 1 year ago

It’s quite a few years ago but I do remember a few engineers I worked directly with. Bob Barnes, Mike, forget his last name, Mark Thompson, Henry Walters, Joe Rulavege sp?

Keeping this on track.

Moby's "play"

I was a big Moby fan in the 90's and saw him live quite a few times. Kinda grew out of his music but here's hoping that album gets your son as much "play" as it did for me back when it came out! lol It was a guaranteed panty-dropper back then, up there with the second Enigma album.

It kills me every time I go to my brothers place, so many great albums and he doesn't own a turntable.

Nice way to display the albums. What is he using for the shelf -ledge ?

#1799 1 year ago

It's those metal 2x2 studs that they use in commercial construction. It's a little too industrial looking for my taste and has sharp edges so not ideal if there are kids or drunk adults around.

Mmm, doesn't sound as good now.
Thx..
