OH YEAH!
Quoted from Chisox:I'm a Marantz/McIntosh/Dali guy.
Sweet we have the same marantz/ca table!

They were decades ahead of their time with the Opiate thing....
That’ll go nicely with some of my Christmas presents! Took my wife to see APC this year, now she’s obsessed.

Next you need some Pucifer!
Quoted from doompin:The receiver weighs nearly 100lbs but Vol 4 is the heaviest thing ever recorded. My well loved original copy.
I love the silver-face Pioneers from the 70's. Currently rocking a much more modest SX-780.

Yeah. I was very fortunate to inherit this Monster SX1250 along with 3 pinball machines last year. It's a piece of art. I actually think it enhances the look of my living room (as opposed to most modern electronics).

In those days all I would buy was Pioneer stuff.

What a score! Keep me in mind if you have dups for sale. Hell keep me in mind for the pinball listening party.

I've got 4 crates of 45's set aside for you
Quoted from Jason43:Molly hatchet had the best album art.
That's because Frank Frazetta was the best.

Be sure to watch "Fire and Ice" on Amazon prime if you like Franks work.
Its not a great movie but if you admire his work its fun.
Watch the how its made documentary, this movie was shot live action then Frank traced the actors - Crazy...

I see the American (and superior) version of HELP right out in front! Nice haul.
So here's the story behind the car full of crates I posted last night. The local record store is moving into a smaller store and was having a clearance sale over the weekend. I've gotten to know the owner over the years and he told me and a friend to show up on the last hour and we could have as much as we wanted for free. We get there and he tells us flip through the crates and if we see anything we want in it we have to take the whole crate.
I ended up taking 10 crates including 4 full of 45's. I ended up with a crate full of decent stuff for me, a crate full of shity music that my wife loves and half a crate of country that I'll give my dad. Even found a few gems hidden in there.
I bought my mom a record player for christmas and gave her my reliable M-Audio speakers.
She's Jamm'n now!
So...I need some advice. What is the best set up with modern equipment....I have old stuff but ready to upgrade. I don’t see Phono inputs on modern receivers so what should I get? Just looking for advice as I want to to enjoy my Vinyl....saw some open box Polk tower speakers and almost jumped on them but not sure it is what I really need until I figure out the receiver/amp and then want thoughts on wireless speaker options. Really looking for whole home audio solutions I guess. Don’t want 3 different systems but would like one that I could hear throughout the house/patio. Is there an option that could also allow me to zone it so for instance I could hear what I want on my patio and the better half could hear what she wants inside the house? Simple solutions are probably best. Let me know what you guys are doing.
I had to hunt around to find my receiver this year. Settled on a Sony. Needed something that had hdmi inputs for hd, usb for my iPad to play iTunes, and rca jacks for my phono. Not a full on pro setup, but real nice for a family room.
Ok.. I had to have it.

Does anyone buy new records from current bands that were released in the current decade?
Since it's a new year, I went through stuff I got that was released in 2017, here's my top 10 list:
Electric Wizard - Wizard Bloody Wizard
Pissed Jeans - Why Love Now
Taiwan Housing Project – Veblen Death Mask
Flat Worms – Red Hot Sand 7"
ISS - Endless Pussyfoooting
Boss Hog – Brood X
Playboy – Celebration
feedtime – Gas
USA/MEXICO – Laredo
The Stallion – The Dark Side Of The Wall 3x12"
Lars Finberg - Moonlight Over Bakersfield
To fit in, here a pick that's 40 years old (although it was released on vinyl in 2017)
Angry Samoans – Too Animalistic: The 1978 Demos
Quoted from Pickle:I don’t see Phono inputs on modern receivers so what should I get?
They are starting to put Phono on receivers again.
Even cheap ones like the Onkyo tx-8020 have it, $199

If you want different programs in different rooms, then you need a receiver with "Zone 2" outputs.
This Pioneer always goes on sale for $299 and has Zone2, Blutooth, WiFi, Phono:

Polk are good, and there are constantly **open box** deals that are brand new, but Adorama cut the box tape so they could be sold below MAP.
Avoid wireless speakers unless you don't care about sound quality.

Just got one this past year - Rag'n Bone Man. I'm always happy to get new stuff, but my taste in music limits what I usually pick up.

Figures, that's my favorite album of theirs. Guess I'll have to wait for a reissue or something.

Anyone else collect concert posters along with vinyl?
Quoted from Fulltilt:I've got an excellent "open box" deal on a pair of black Polk A7s if anyone is close to N.E. TN and is able to pick them up.
Just as new.
I’ll take that turntable. I’ll drive down from Chicago to pick it up.
Quoted from Fulltilt:Anyone else collect concert posters along with vinyl?
Yes I have quite a few. Love the artwork on a lot of them.
