Quoted from Jam_Burglar:Got this in the mail today
I loved Twin Peaks! "I will tell you three things."
Haunting theme song....
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:My latest music project is Twin Peaks Break Beats. I'm taking parts of the score and vocal samples and making "remixes".
» YouTube video
Sweet! Leland is so damn creepy.
Saw this online. I would buy it.
http://welcometotwinpeaks.com/music/leland-palmer-songs-playlist/
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:I picked up the score for season 3 (it's a separate release from the one above) and it's really good too. Some solid Badalamenti on there.
I have some more Twin Peaks remix tracks in the works too.
I always thought Leland would have been good with Billie Holiday.
"Give me a pig foot, and a bottle of beer."
Quoted from Methos:This.
You have to research the versions you want to acquire.
Agreed. I was worried about the Miles Davis mono release but it seems good.
Quoted from Chisox:How are you liking the McIntosh gear?
I like it. Since 1974 I've wanted a McIntosh setup. The "direct" mode in phono is excellent. It took a while to get the setup done. I didn't anticipate everything being so "custom". Now that I have all the input/video in sync, I'm really enjoying it.
Quoted from Chisox:I can't bethe only guy listening to the Knack, LCD Soundsystem, and the Pixies tonight can I?
Yes but I want The Knack album.
Quoted from Chisox:I can't be the only guy listening to the Knack, LCD Soundsystem, and the Pixies tonight can I?
Or the only one listening to Miles and watching David Gilmour.
Might should just be Gilmour. Just sayin'.
Quoted from Methos:Do you guys use the vintage McIntosh gear or the newer stuff?
The couple pieces are newer stuff. I bought them both used. (I can't afford anything new!)
I needed a control preamp with HDMI and a multi-channel amp for the A/V system.
Quoted from Chisox:Because two Becks are better than one.
And some bluesie Beck.
Quoted from timtim:Its a Electrohome circa Apollo 860
I would have sworn it was a Disney Mickey player!
Are those 2 round speakers attached?
I'd love one of those.
Quoted from timtim:yeah it comes with orb speakers
some of the Apollos have awesome stands as well
Well it is very cool. I've never seen one. Would fit great in a Jetson's theme.
Quoted from vid1900:If there is one piece of vinyl everyone needs
There could be a 'must have' sub-topic.

Quoted from pacmanretro:Guess it's time to break out the Tom Petty LPs tonite...
RIP Tom...
As I get closer to 62, the passing of these legends hits closer to home. RIP Tom and Greg(g).
Quoted from snyper2099:Well yeah but Tom is not actually gone yet. Some news outlets jumped the gun. I do like his music a lot and regret not seeing him years ago.
Thank you for the correction. I just read where he was taken off life support. Wishing him a recovery if at all possible.
Great album on Amazon if anyone else is interested.
6 LP set.

Quoted from ssbodyman:I thought that was Tuesday.
No, it's Stevie Ray Saturday. (:
Just a curious observation... anyone else see 'new' vinyl holding more static than older records?
I haven't bought new records until the past year or so. I clean them with a Disc Washer which may be a culprit in the issue.
Quoted from Chisox:I haven't noticed, but I always zap them with my Zerostat gun.
Maybe I need a gun? (:
I get tired of having the mat come up with the record...
Quoted from Chisox:I haven't noticed, but I always zap them with my Zerostat gun.
You da' man! Zapped and no static.
Quoted from Redketchup:My dream! Lest we forget... marilyn manson pressing are like pinball today... they cost a lot of money!
Trade it for a Wedge Head.... (:
Quoted from vid1900:The last episode of Preacher made me cue up this badass track:
» YouTube video
Oh hell yes.
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:Here's why I bought the Barry White record
» YouTube video
I always wondered if a little Barry would help...
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:Check out this picture I posted many moons ago on Pinside. You may see something familiar.
The Fudge!
Quoted from ssbodyman:his will either be really good or complete shit, going to give it a spin now and see.
The hair is worth the 5 bucks. Gotta love it.
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:Found this in my Soundtrack section. I forgot I had it. I don't think it's very good but I had to buy it for obvious reasons.
You like Brooke Shields?
Quoted from puck:multiballmaniac1 not a nails fan lol. Or a music fan?!? What’s with all the down votes.
... also doesn't know squat about Mansinthe.
Quoted from vid1900:If you feel the need to let your inner pedophile out, Michael Jackson "Off The Wall" is on sale today
Many nights at the local disco listening to that music.
Quoted from vicjw66:Can anyone find an original Joy Division's first album? And no, I'm not a Nazi sympathiser.
Is it not on Discogs?
https://www.discogs.com/sell/list?master_id=4805&ev=mb&format=Vinyl
Quoted from dirkdiggler:I had all these albums in my vinyl collection when i was a kid and that's just the first ones I thought of.
Oh God I feel so old.... I don't think any of those band(s) members were born yet when I was a kid...
Quoted from waldo34:Is that an orginal? Very nice!
Yes I believe so. (:
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:I can hook my phone up to play beats and scratch wherever I want (church, funerals, barmitzvas, etc.)
Please post vids. (:
Ok.. I had to have it.

Quoted from Jason43:Work out music for the evening...
Anyone else collect concert posters along with vinyl?
Quoted from Chisox:Wow! I need to get that book. ^^^
Get the 3. Very well worth it. Great stuff.
Quoted from ssbodyman:With a cover like this I have see what it sounds like.
Mann is da' man. It's the inside cover that's best.
Quoted from Jason43:For no reason, a gratuitous shot of my AR
I have wonderful memories of the AR. I loved mine. First time I ever heard one was walking into my friends living room in '74 and he was blasting Trower's Bridge of Sighs. Auditory memories are permanent also.
Had to see it for myself.
Quoted from rolandthoms:Where are you guys scoring your "finds"?
95% of mine came from record purchases in the 70's and 80's.
Discogs is nice for finding that specific something you are looking for. Otherwise flea markets, yard sales, thrift stores.
My purchases off Discogs have been right in line with the descriptions, that's a plus. The flea market, yard sale route can be a gamble.
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:The thing is, there are only so many records you can listen to. I've got more records than time at this point.
I have to agree with that.
I think the best time for vinyl was the mid to late 90s.
Kinda' like pins.
I bet I've bought less than 2 dozen records in the past 15 years and most of that has been since joining this damn group! Seems like plenty of stuff I haven't listened to in years sounds good again when I play it.
Quoted from vid1900:I know most Pinsiders hate the Beatles and look at them as "grandpaw's music"...
If anyone listens to "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and calls it grandpa music they need to take another listen!
Quoted from vid1900:I know most Pinsiders hate the Beatles and look at them as "grandpaw's music" but you can get a picture disc of Sgt. Pepper's for $20 today!
Da' Man! And less cost than the cassette.
Have the original but gotta' have the picture disc! (:
Quoted from ssbodyman:It kills me every time I go to my brothers place, so many great albums and he doesn't own a turntable.
Give him a turntable for his next birthday.
Get a shot for an autographed Todd Rundgren. For $12.98.

Quoted from emkay:Yes, long story with antitrust suits going back to the 40’s but they are essentially the same. I’m working on a similar vintage Nortel this morning, the DMS 250:
Quoted from emkay:I wish, because then I could take the pill... no, it's where I've been spilling my coffee for the past couple years. At night I like to put my head down, walk real fast and pretend I'm Red 5 making the trench run at the end of Episode IV.
That looks like my old IBM XT and dot matrix printer. (:
I think you need this in your shirt pocket when preparing to take out the Death Star.
Quoted from ssbodyman:One for 20 bucks and the other two are 180 and 200.
The $20 Discogs album looks to have the "very good" rating. Apparently that can include "noticeable groove wear" and "surface noise will not overpower the music". If yours in one of the "near mint", looks like you might have a hard to find album.
Quoted from vid1900:You can get the most famous homosexual pedophile of all time 2nd best selling wax today
The mid-transformation album.
Quoted from vid1900:The Commemorative Dinner Plates with other people's baby's faces on them takes the cake.....
I dunno', those gas tanks in the corner give me the creeps. What the f*....
They look like O2 tanks but who knows what else he had...
Is that his propofol IV line!!?
Quoted from snyper2099:Humble Pie at the Fillmore?
I just can't get in to that album at all...
My favorite live album right now is Ten Years After: Recorded Live
I will say that Ten Years After with Going Home live at Woodstock left a permanent auditory memory in my brain.
Quoted from Dee-Bow:polk salad annie...mean old grannie
Love that song. I need that album.
Quoted from Skrippy:What's everyone's take on picture discs or colored vinyl over all? Just curious I've heard anything but black has overall worse quality. (Sorry if this has already been discussed!)
My ears can't tell the difference.
I've never listened to a picture disc. I've only recently listed to colored vinyl.
The recent Solo Monk release is solid white and sounds great to me.
Quoted from Chisox:Yes I’d like to hear the story behind that deck.
http://thevinylanachronist.blogspot.com/2016/07/wilco-schmilco-turntable-from-pro-ject.html
I really miss the old Gameroom magazine articles from Bill Bickers. After every issue, I would dream of picking up a jukebox.
He's apparently still helping folks out.
http://www.jukeboxfridaynight.com/index.html
Quoted from Rascal_H:I’m hoping to just find a cheap one. Mostly brought on by my desire to play the TNA soundtrack and those couple I mentioned. GNR Appetite and INXS Kick were the first albums I ever bought and they were on cassette. In other words - midlife crisis.
The only cassette deck I ever had was a Nakamichi 600. It sounded great in playback but it was the devil to get set well for recordings.
Quoted from SteveO:8 Tracks were even worse. The sound quality was poor and you could not rewind or fast forward.
I loved the 8 Track in my '69 Cutlass. My favorite tape was The Who, Live at Leeds. Sounded like shit on 8 Track but I loved it.
Quoted from Fulltilt:I loved the 8 Track in my '69 Cutlass. My favorite tape was The Who, Live at Leeds. Sounded like shit on 8 Track but I loved it.
Back in the 70s, my homemade turntable shelf was a square of wood suspended from the ceiling with 4 corner chains. I thought it was so cool at at the time.
Some great Miles for $14.

5 thumbs up if I could. Played it slam out.
I had to go listen to Jack Straw another 100 times.
Another pending release from Real Gone that likely won't last.

Quoted from vid1900:In America, you've got to keep your album covers conservative, even if the songs are about unwed copulation.
The normal world:The censored USA:
I got a thumbs down vote here for my Blind Faith album cover. DANG...doesn't even come close!
Quoted from vid1900:You've got to be 21 to drink beer in America
Yet Budweiser was super careful to only use a female dog to pose as "Spuds Mackenzie"
Spuds was dickless?!!! WTF.... Next thing you'll tell me Archie Bunker was gay!
Quoted from ultimategameroom:Classic album!
Met a guy who had this cool belt buckle. I can only guess that it was insanely expensive.
Probably not at the time!
But certainly more popular today than my Nixon button from similar time.
Quoted from vid1900:I hear ya - I don't like when a chick's 2nd toe is longer than her big toe either.
Hey... I resent that.. I've got a pointer toe. But I won't post you a pic.
Quoted from Redketchup:How is that vinyl, i’m a zombie fan and i like to know if this worth to buy it. Good press?
IMO hell yes, get it.
Quoted from pacmanretro:I know it isnt exactly an audiphile album, but got
this in mail today. Lol.
I don't know... I think I want one!
Quoted from vid1900:Bowie - Aladdin Sane $12
Great release. Highly recommend if you need a copy.
Quoted from Chitownpinball:The wax should be on my doorstep when I get home.
Hopefully not in the direct sun. (:
Near 80 here in N.E. TN today.... very weird.
Quoted from MrDucks:I've seen them a few times out here, that guitar player really rips.
Somebody say smok'in guitar riffs?
Quoted from Dee-Bow:.. i was drinking beers that night and someone scooped one on me while i was looking at it. Turns out it was ME who clicked "buy it now"
I feel your pain.
Quoted from rolandthoms:Question: do I bring these 6 records down off the wall to listen to them.
Yes....
Quoted from rolandthoms:I hear you. It’s an addiction. Just like Pinball. Not sure which one is more expensive
pinball hands down.
In the meantime, if you need a new copy, Axis is only $12.

Quoted from Chisox:After two days of driving and doing the college visit with my senior. I come home to this on my front porch. Baroness - The Red Album. One of the best hard rock records of the last 25 years and a glass of bourbon are just what I need.
Read about the band members. From Lexington, VA. Home of Frank's Pizza & Subs, my favorite ever cheese steak subs.
Just sayin'....
Quoted from Dee-Bow:Dunno where i even got this album! Dont remember buying it!
I remember buying this one. Came home, played it and was blown away. The cardboard may be worn out but the vinyl is perfect.
(Maybe the Soundguard I applied in ‘77 worked).

I like the way YOU think! Pizza Man!!
Quoted from vid1900:I just liked it because a famous boy band got tens of millions of kids into drugs.
I don’t know, I always did more drugs with Grace.
Quoted from Jtm3:Tonight’s spin. My kids told me “turn it down dad!” When did this sh** happen?
Heck yeah!

Honestly? I think I would want more power for the bucks.
Here's that second thumbs up for the Zombies and the great story. Pinside only allows me 1.
I think there is truth to some of us having older souls inside.. (not that the 60's is old or anything to suggest that...)
(and Nag Champa is still my favorite)
Monday, Monday. Needed to hear a favorite band but how do you decide which album?
A&M records made some sweet sounding vinyl.

Quoted from Chisox:You have great taste! This was also in my top three last year. The World’s Best American Band was the song of the summer, no doubt.
I feel so left behind with new music. I'm going to have to just "go for it" and order some of these.
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:I would just go for all of em. I bought the Police Box Set back in the mid 90s. Probably one of the best music purchases I ever made. They've got some great B-sides...
I have not found a selection that I didn’t like.
Quoted from emkay:I gotta do something nice for my mailman. He's walking up to my steps a couple times a week instead of just filling the box through his Jeep window and he's not built like he's used to doing that.
That’s reminds me of when I had a GAS Ampzilla arrive by Priority Mail.
Quoted from emkay:Those cutouts have an interesting part of the tale of when the mafia took over MCA Records though... ever follow that?
No but I will now.
I always punched the disc for that extra side!

Quoted from waldo34:Spent my morning listening to Tower of Power. Great stuff. Thanks to this thread I picked up my first Marshall Tucker Band, love the cover art. Nice way to start the early evening.
Pickup Marshall Tucker "Where We All Belong". Great album.
Quoted from emkay:I was five years old the first time I heard that album, still remember it like yesterday. Can still remember every note of every song, sing you every lyric....
Dear Lord I was 30... I can't remember squat..about anything..
My daughter's out and living with her boyfriend. So now I can play all of the old dad music I want to. (:
Quoted from Chisox:My daughter is at prom and my son is at a friends house so I’m going to play all my records with cussin’. Don’t tell Tipper.
right about 6:35
Quoted from Chisox:I wish my collection was big enough to warrant organizing by category or genre but like a dumb ass I threw all my albums out/sold them/gave them away in the 80s.

“A bit more volume on this one Charlie, it’s gonna need it.”
I loved the ADC Sound Shaper. Used to spend hours fine tuning with my Radio Shack sound pressure meter.
Quoted from Chisox:Awesome. That’s how I imagine unwinding all my records/cds/stereo equipment will go. Give it to family or friends who I know will appreciate them.
I imagine passing it all down to my daughter.. but she doesn’t get my taste I don’t think. Yet..!
