Quoted from Fulltilt:We get a lot of brownouts and surges around here. Added some line protection and a stable power source.

It's subjective in my case but I do think it does. I had taken an amp over to Terry Dewick to check out because I was having an issue with hum. He tested it out and found it to be dead quiet. That made me suspect my lousy power source. No hum issue now.
I visited the new Amoeba Records on Hollywood Boulevard for the first time.
Last time I went was at the old Sunset location in January 2020
Unfortunately I went Saturday afternoon... and it was a crowded madhouse...
I hit the Vinyl section.. and bailed out. Never made it to the CDs or Movies... just to crowded.
Parking situation is Shit... the old store had it's own free underground parking lot.
Now its scramble to find a lot and pay $20.
Then traverse the stinking Homeless encampment on the side streets... overall it was pretty disheartening.
Quoted from Fulltilt:One of the best.

That’s sad.
Yep,.. I usually spend at least two hours at Amoeba.. I bailed after 20 minutes. Never even got to the Vinyl Soundtrack section.
I'll try again, early on a Monday or a Tuesday. But not anytime soon.
I found two gems... but just felt bummed out.
Quoted from Evets:Rest in peace, Astrud.
RIP
My favorite giggles on Vinyl are Astrud's. She was such a lovely lady.
Found this rare NWOBHM album at a local store.
Quartz, Stand Up and Fight, 1980.
German Pressing.
The second album from the Birmingham band, the debut had been produced by Tony Iommi .
They toured with Sabbath, Rush, UFO and Maiden, but called it quits after the 1983 album.
Picture, Diamond Dreamer, 1982 original Dutch pressing.
Couldn't believe I found this.. Picture was the first Dutch Heavy Metal band.
This is Pictures 3rd album, from 82.
Love this album.. a mix of Priest and AC/DC.
Unfortunately the singer only did this one album, and I don't care for the other singers.
I've been trying to find a copy for years.

What's its name ?
Tom's Music Trade in Red Lion, PA.
He's got a little of everything. You just have to find it.
More NWOBHM goodness
Tygers of Pan Tang, Crazy Nights 1981.
Original UK pressing with extra 12 inch 2 track single.
Guitarist John Sykes second and last album with Tygers before auditioning for Ozzy... but ending up in Thin Lizzys Thunder and Lightning line up and Final tour.
Quoted from gonzo73:Then traverse the stinking Homeless encampment on the side streets... overall it was pretty disheartening.
I saw that CA will spend $30k per homeless person this year.
Seems like for that kind of coin, cali could just give them housing

There you go trying to get rational. That made me curious. A chart for 22-23 Calif discretionary spending: Lowest expenditure by far was on workforce development.

It is even more than that I think spent.

Quoted from gonzo73:Here's a happier Subject. Motörhead
We are Motörhead.
I love Judas Priest, but that album is not a favorite of mine.
And then they did the Johnny B Goode cover. Simply awful.
It's a good thing they had put out Sad Wings..., Sin After Sin, Unleashed in the East, etc. prior to that mistake.

Hendrix - Johnny b goode. I always said if I could play guitar like this song I would be all set.

Agreed, the songs were weak and I hated that Tipton and Downing were using guitar synthesizers. I remember the videos they made for that album and they were dressed more like L.A. hair bands than their usual look. It was just a bad idea to try and be something other than what they were.
Quoted from Azmodeus:Proper coverage imo.
Love Paul Gilbert’s work in Racer X. Much better than the crap he did with Mr. Big.
If find it amazing that there are still 40-50 year old records that look and sound brand new.
You know.. they seem nicer than some brand new records.

My wife was listening to a boxset of classical pops recordings from the 60's today. I don't think they had ever even been played. They look and sound pristine. Got them for a $1, some good stuff on there if you like that sort of thing.
Heres a record with a wierd history.
U.D.O. Animal House, 1987 first US pressing.
File under Horrific Band Decisions.
In 1987 Accept and its managers decided to go for the MTV Glam Metal Gold Medal, and fire its Iconic singer Udo Dirkschneider and get a bland American singer.
But.... Accept had already written the whole Next Accept record with Udo... so they gave it to Udo as a parting gift.
Check out the songwriting credits... Accept Accept and Accept.
So the first U.D.O. album is just the 8th Accept record.
Accept would take two more years to finnish the record with the new singer.... and it completely Bombed.
Accept would then break up in 1990.
Then reform with Udo in 1994.

There's exceptions, but the majority of newer vinyl that I've owned has ranged from ok to horrible. The 50 year old stuff, overall is definitely better

Part of this has to do with various compounds used in the PVC back then...made for quieter noise-floor. EPA wont allow some of the 'lead based' stuff today.
