It’s a Johnnie Taylor kinda week around here.

I posted the Undisputed Truth album Cosmic Truth recently, and said I had to find a better copy, as mine was trashed.

And I find the whole catalogue has been repressed!
I picked up the last three most Funky/Psychedelic albums.
Gordy records.
Law of the Land 1973
Cosmic Truth 1975
Higher than High 1975

It's the Michell Gyrodec. Been around for decades and still in production, I love the platter columns that move when it's on. Really adds to the mechanical feel of it all

Speaking of Iron Maiden, I found this OG picture disc in my closet this weekend. Young me bought it the day the album was released.

I had a birthday earlier this week. My lovely wife had scouted out a used record store that I have never picked before. She then took the time to pour through the bins. She came up with this vintage lot for me, all of which a) satisfy my admittedly quirky musical tastes, and b) did not duplicate anything I already have on vinyl. That's no small task!

If you've got a gal that knows to buy the Rory Gallagher record when she sees it, you are a lucky guy indeed. I know I am!

There is a newish European unofficial pressing currently out there, several for sale on ebay. You're gonna pay north of $100 for one but that's your best option until it gets an official reissue. Maybe they will do a 30th anniversary edition in 2026?

Crown records was a budget label here in Los Angeles, they hired some power trio mystery band to cash in on the Phych Cream, Blue Cheer, Hendrix boom.

The Firebirds, Light My Fire. 1969.
The Doors cover is a lackluster intrumental.. but the rest of the album is cool Low Fy Power Trio
garage Fuzz.
Obviously recorded live in one take on the lowest budget.
The record sleeve is the thinnest of cheepy cheep, how it survived in such good condition is a miracle.

P.S. I saw there was a recent repress.. but my copy has nothing indicating it's a new version date wise... or new text.. who knows..

P.P.S. I Did more digging.. mine is a Bootleg from 2012 with 2 additional songs.
The more you know....
