Quoted from vid1900:

Nube questions are great.
This turntable comes with cables, but you would need a Phono Preamp to bring the audio level and EQ up to "line level"
The turntable you have now, does it have a built in Phono Preamp? (make, model, needed)

I'm not really sure if it has preamp built in. It's a cheap Seeying record player. This is the speaker I have:

https://www.amazon.com/Marshall-Action-Black-Bluetooth-Speaker/dp/B07JGJ8Z8K/ref=sr_1_1

I'm not really an audiophile so I don't need everything to be/sound perfect, I'm just a Beatles fan and think that that player would be nice if it simply hooked up to my cheap speaker. Thanks Vid.

This will boost your turntable output to line level

Quoted from Scoot:

I just finished the process myself. Like an idiot I did not test any of the new caps before I installed them all. Turned on the receiver and it sounded like crap. So I had to go through every cap to see which one was bad. Took an entire day.
[quoted image]

Yikes! To be honest I didn't test any of mine either because I don't have any way to measure ESR or capacitance so maybe I got lucky. So you had some faulty brand new capacitors that weren't at the rated capacitance?

Quoted from Clytor:

I’m being unfaithful to my turntable.
[quoted image]

What OP-amps do you have installed?

#9805 1 year ago

Slowly going through my parents records. Never listened to these till now. Wow! I'm impressed. There keepers!

Just grabbed a haul from the local record store. Glad I have the ultrasonic as these were filthy.

Fancy DAC you got there, its playing a CD quality 44K in the pic do you have a hifi stream service for it?

Just one. It was a 2.2uf 100v on the mpx board. I had to put the original back in. I thought I put it in wrong but no, it was just bad.

Now that it is done, I can definitely hear a difference in sound quality. I was skeptical I wouldn't notice, but it was worth the money. I can clearly hear the differences in my cartridges where before I couldn't.

I have the Burson v6 Vivids in it right now. I might try some of the Stacattos to see how they sound. Dragon I play stuff on my iTunes and I use Tidal.

It is. You can “roll” in any DAC but Burson kind of caters to it, socketing the chips. They sell a variety of op amps with different signatures. One of the other selling points was that it was used on eBay for about half off of the new price.

Finally got this 7” one hit wonder from the 80’s that I’ve wanted for a long time. It’ll need to be converted to a big hole before putting it on the Jukebox… Sandwiched between Space Oddity and 2000 Light Years From Home.

All this talk about changing caps has me wondering. I bought a Technics SL-1610 awhile back as is. I cleaned it all up, it took me hours to free up all the moving parts for the auto start, but it's working great now. It sounds great, but I feel like there is a little distortion. It's the same cartridge I was using on my AT-LP-120 so I'm pretty sure it's not the cartridge. I'm not sure if I'm hearing more detail because it's a higher end turntable, or if something is dirty or tired. I'm pretty sure it's all original, I think these were made around 1979. Is it time to change the caps?

Cartridge is an Ortofon 2M Red if it matters.

There's little, if any caps in the signal path that would flavor the sound. How's the cartridge alignment? Do you have the little technics alignment tool that the headshell mounts to?

James Horner was amazing, Wrath of Khan is simply a perfect soundtract.

It's too bad he had the same hobby as John Denver.

Both gone to soon.

More nonsense from the box...
Uriah Heep, Wonderworld.
One of my absolute favorite Heep records. Underated.
Farewell Yamato 2 LP, soundtract with dialogue.
Gatefold with awesome full color glossy film book.
Eddie Money, Life For The Taking.
Eddie's sophomore album, great follow up.

After doing a bit more research after posting, it seems like the cap kits are primarily for speed issues.

I followed this guys video for setup.

Using the following tools

Maybe I'll watch the vid again this weekend and re-run through everything. I'm far from an expert. This will be only the 3rd time adjusting stuff like this.

Jamming to New Order's "Age of Consent" 12" single. I scored this big pile of Factory Records, 80s new wave, and 80s/90s hip hop dance stuff (like Cameo and Pump Up the Volume) free on my local Buy Nothing group. Blondie, Human League, Clan of Xymox, Berlin, OMD, etc. Some worn covers, but the vinyl is perfect.
