Went to another Walmart today and they had this double album of Iron Maiden Number of the Beast over Hammersmith. 3 LP set. It rang up for $56 but they changed it to $15 for me since the sign did say “All vinyl $15”.
Great pressing as well. Sounds much better than my original pressing of Number of the Beast. Having the live album as well is a bonus.

There are a couple I have absolutely no use for and just bought because of the discount. I own all of the GnR songs several times on multiple copies if the originals, but I don't own the Greatest Hits on vinyl. I'll likely never listen to it, but it sort of completes the collection. I'm not even sure what a complete collection is, there are so many releases. This makes me whole to have at least one version of every GnR release. I may hit another Wal Mart this weekend to see if anything is left. I'd like to get some Maiden, my copy of Number of the Beast sounds like garbage.
2022-11-18 23.21.11 (resized).jpgA warning on the Walmart Van Halen 1 pressing they have out, on side two Jaimies Crying has a pressing Flaw. It's the Walmart Exclusive with a replica back stage pass. I saw a YouTube video about it. A guy bought 3 copies all with the same skipping on Jaime.

Damn man, now you tell me ! I ordered this album for Paul earlier tonight. Meh.

It's kind of a "You get what you pay for" scenario. Kinda like the old days of music club pressings. Some are decent and others are garbage.
Spooky Blue variation cover of Blue Öyster Cult ' The Revolution by Night.
It should be a red border.... not blue...
Its not even listed on Discogs ... ???
Is it a Super Rare Expensive find ??
No......' just a oddball Taiwanese press of an unloved record.
Nova, enjoy rock culture, label.
I love it though.
Going to The Record Exchange in Boise for RSD. For the goodies and to see all of my vinyl friends there.

Awesome. Seriously some of the best comps ever put on wax, IMO.

Started with Vol 1. Man, flashback in time.
I haven't heard new stuff like that in 50 years!

Yeah I have had issues with Walmart vinyl. I'm on my third copy of Black Pumas. Buy it and all is good, after some time the albums warp. Warp to the point that the only part of the album that touches the table is where the label is.
Quoted from HoakyPoaky:There’s got to be some Saint Vitus fans in here. Great Thirsty & Misterable cover btw.

I never knew it was a song by their label mates Black Flag for years. So different, but i enjoy the slow- doom version more & i obviously don't listen to Black Flag

Amazing, isn't it. ALL of those bands making incredible music and the world barely knows about the Soul Revival that is now 10+ years on.
Quoted from gonzo73:Spent many a great afternoon at Pepperland music' and the great used bookstore next door.
Both are gone now and SoCal the worse for it.
Agreed. Right down the street you still have Altair 4 books and 1 other bookstore. The owner of Altair 4 knew one of my favorite artists personally. Dave Stevens.

Altair 4 books is Dangerous.....
It plays on all my weaknesses...
Super Rare WW 2 books, Oddball vintage Science fiction books, Vintage Magazines of the Geeky type. Hard Covers, minty rare Paperbacks, all pricey, all super cool.
I first met the owner at his booth at the 1993??? San Diego Comic Con. It was always a highlight from then on visiting his booth every year, as he was one of the only dealers with Vintage history and Sci fy books.
A true treasure of a store, and great guy.

Wow , that's disturbing..... I've never heard of vinyl reverting its shape to warped status after opening it up.... that's a new one.
I bought the 2LP Black Pumas deluxe version from Spin Records last year.
It's an amazing debut album.
Hope you find a good copy.
Cheers.
Reel to Reel Brown Bomber ??
Holy cats that's cool.
I didn't really start haunting Record stores till 1987' before that just occasionally with my older brother.
I never have seen one in the wild in 35 something years of visiting shops and record Fairs.
Did they sell Reel to Real albums in general record stores ? Or were they only at High End stores' or Mail Order ?
Quoted from gonzo73:Did they sell Reel to Real albums in general record stores ? Or were they only at High End stores' or Mail Order ?
Short answer to a whole other topic. Yes, there was a period they sold commercial reels. Most all were 4 track, 7" reels at 7 1/2 ips. They were pretty good. Then they started cutting cost and went down to 3 3/4 ips tapes and they were worse than vinyl. It soon died off.
There really were never any 10", 15 ips 2 track tapes commercially. Over the past few years I've found them leaking out for sale. The 1 off copies from master tapes are incredibly good.
Quoted from Fulltilt:My second favorite Zeppelin album.

Which one do you think was better?
Heads up to my fellow collectors :
Don't keep your records in PVC sleeves! They will ruin your records and those around it even if they're in protected inner sleeves.
I had a few remaining PVC sleeves that I didn't replace I found one of my records that's totally foggy and it can't be cleaned.
A great number have come out of Kiev,
Quoted from zombywoof:Which one do you think was better?
I really like Physical Graffiti
Quoted from Jman44:I still need to figure out the rest of the system I will need
Try and find a local repair tech. They will usually have a bunch of refurbished gear around, or at least know some locals who do.
Quoted from Jman44:Just getting into Vinyl myself, I got a Technics SL-1300 turntable. I still need to figure out the rest of the system I will need, amplifier. Speakers, etc. I like Synthwave so I got this in the mail today

Yep, don't discount vintage recievers, from 1974-1980, all the Electronics companys were in an arms race of Stereo R&D.
In 80-81 the stereo market crashed, and all the manufacturers started using cheaper and cheaper components.
And the age of black plastic crap stereos was born.
Alas....
I run all vintage gear. You might have to get a vintage stereo serviced or recapped, but the Build Quality and aesthetics are well worth the extra expense.
Sansui, Pioneer, Kenwood, Realistic, Scott, Marantz, and Technics.... you can't go wrong with Receivers from 74-80.
Any reciever from that era with 40-80 Watts is all you need, the 100+ Watt recievers are all Pricey now and highly sought after..... but unnecessary.
This is one of my favorites, a Scott 370-R 60 Watt, with decent speakers it Roars.

What he said. And they all had phono and tape inputs.
Tape Loops, FTW!
(Also, there are lesser known brands that put out amazing receivers in the late 70s. Sanyo is one of them. Very underrated Receivers and cheap when compared to the more well known brands)
Quoted from Fulltilt:What he said. And they all had phono and tape inputs.
Some have TWO phono inputs, tape and Auxiliary!

This advice is spot-on, but be careful. Vintage audio equipment has a tendency to multiply....
