I liked them both, but the melvins first song is the sound track for getting things done around the house just put it on replay and go hang some lights, do some yard work, fix a wood chipper... oh by the way thanks for sharing these that was fun

Thought I would share this with the thread. Xenon lp by Suzanne Ciani. Neat for a pin collector to own, only $11 and I think it's 30% off on top of that. Don't quote me on that. Free shipping on $50 and over.

Is that Govt Mule Life Before Insanity in the stack ?
It's an outstanding album, I saw them 3 times that year right before Woody passed away.
Great pickup.
Quoted from Fulltilt:A good day at the record store.

Yeah, the Gov’t Mule and Tedeschi Trucks caught my eye first. I can’t make them all out, but looks like a good haul!

Thank you again Elvis.

The 1000 Homo DJs version is about as killer a cover as you could ever hope to find.
Quoted from Gov:Been looking forward to this one coming out.

That was a fun tour. Saw them in NY, Phoenix and San Francisco. Great shows.

Got a few on this sale. Been pretty pleased with the Walmart exclusive pressings I have received.
Considered by some a 1968 psychedelic rock gem, even though the band went no further than this initial album (and no formal single from it according to 45worlds). Most of its sound is reminiscent of Cream but perhaps a little heavier, a little slower in places.
A lot of studio and writing contribution came from Felix Pappalardi, who of course went on to form the band Mountain ("Mississippi Queen").
Unfortunately my vinyl+cover I've had since the mid '70s are partially trashed from so much use; I need to find a better copy...

it was broadcast tapes
Thanks! Researching this also. I think indeed many of these reels may have been tapes sent out to broadcast stations in the day. That would also help explain why I’ve gotten them from the US as well as Europe.

This is an awesome rare find that I believe would fetch over $1000 at auction. Since it's the first Beatles recording, it would likely be above that but I'm no expert on these so I might be wrong.
I looks like it's master tape so if it's the case, it's invaluable since it's so crazy rare and unique but once again you should contact an expert before you do anything with it (don't play it, don't touch it). If it's a master tape, it's the original source used to make the vinyl pressings.
Who knows, you might make enough from selling this to buy yourself a new pinball.
If you're looking to sell, you might want to drop an email to https://www.parlogramauctions.com
They make a lot of Youtube videos on all Beatles rarities and are very knowledgeable on these things.
Here's a video for the reel tape for Let It Be :
As to why and where a radio station would have these, my guess is that they get to tapes for promotion and just store that in the basement after that. Then after many years they need to make room to they just give or sell them.

I'm pretty sure most all are 1 off copies from the original. The original, likely locked up somewhere in the safe of Warner Music.
I bought them to play. The recordings sound simply fantastic.
Deep Purple "Turning to crime" double album (Clear) they are doing covers on this set , I was shocked to find out it is a 12" that plays at 45 it doesn't say that anywhere and a different feel from DP very cool . so does the speed increase also increase the sound quality just as a tape machine does?
_W5A9802 (resized).JPGYes. Apparently the faster speed lets there be more info encoded in the space. (my simplistic understanding)

Beatles Master Tapes in the Wild
For as long as tape has been a viable medium, (mid 1950s) record labels have provided their affiliates with copies of Master tapes for local production of records (often called Production Masters). By the mid seventies, cassette tapes and then 8-tracks had eclipsed LPs before giving away to digital recordings, CDs. It was the movement to digital that has provided the impetus that has made these master tapes available; once a ‘record’ company moved to digital (compact discs) the thinking was that there was no need to keep the space-consuming analog tapes, along with their stringent temperature and humidity controlled requirements. Heave-ho, out to the dumpster they go!
EMI Abbey Road provided Beatles Master Tapes directly to their subsidiaries.
Its well documented that EMI-Abbey Road provided hundreds of first generation copies of the Beatle Master tapes to affiliates worldwide for local production of records.

so this open reel looks like one from the mid 1960's it has 6 spoke and the hub design it of the type "A" NAB from what i read and it has a interesting deeper cut opening on one of the 6 that exposes a plastic circle , i'm thinking its to allow loading the tape and not to get skin oils any where near the tape
Spent many a great afternoon at Pepperland music' and the great used bookstore next door.
Both are gone now and SoCal the worse for it.
