Quoted from gonzo73:

Mike at the In Groove did a fun Video on his YouTube Channel, he bought a rare Dark Side Test Pressing, then went through his collection of Dark Side Pressings.
Informative and fun, gives you a overview of good pressings over the decades. And a couple bad...
The channel is called The ' In ' Groove.
I can recommend one..

I’m guessing Mike didn’t really care for the Japanese pressings. He trashes them every chance he gets. Entertaining dude, though. His record collection must be vast, to say the least.

Pretty good album from these guys. Not their best but they’re always trying something new…

Oh yeah, ... alot of the Audiophiles crap on the Japanese pressings including mike...
They all say, Yes Japanese pressings sound Crystal clear, virgin high quality vinly... but low bass.
I don't hear it... and if its true... turn up the bass a notch !
But these are the guys that have $100 thousand dollar sound systems.

I call them AudioFools.

Should you buy the IKEA Turntable for $159 USD ?

Hoo hoo hoo ! Enjoy all the Dust sucking onto your Vinyl.
No Dustcover !!!
No real power cord, cheap construction, who is this for ?
Suckers ?
Grandparents buying gifts?

Its a toy turntable for kids, that's who, as he says get the Audio Technica turntable for a beginner table.

I've only been shopping at an IKEA once, thought they would have higher standards ? No ?
Does IKEA sell lots of under engineered Junk like this ?

I don't use a dustcover unless I am going to be out of town for a week or two.

Never do I leave a dustcover on a TT that I am using.

Yeah I have been happy with most stuff from Ikea, but this is a swing and a miss for sure.

Oh and for all those here, I do collect test pressings that are autographed and documented….

Especially interested in suicide squeeze label recordings

Thin Lizzy, Thunder and Lightning, 1983.
Lizzy Hires John Sykes and ends its career on a high note.

This is the One , The Sun Goes Down, and Cold Sweat are Top Lizzy songs in my book.

Omnium Gatherum is a great starting spot IMO as there are so many styles explored. Then you can decide which songs are your favorites, and there are entire other albums in the same style. It is a great album too. In my top 3 for them.

That said my go to recommends for King Gizzard are:

Polygondwanaland
Nanogon Infinity
KG

In your Mind Fuzz is great too, but is very lo fi sounding, even more so than Nanogon. Songs are great tho.

Nonagon Infinity is widely considered their best studio album.

Polygondwanaland is another great one that you may look into.

If those aren't available (or if you are wanting a greater range of songs), I would suggest one of their live albums. San Francisco 2016 and Bonnaroo 2022 are both pretty popular.

I think their live albums are better in a lot of cases for listening to their earlier work b/c the recording quality is actually better. Any of the live bootlegs are great. I listen to them frequently. '19 London is probably my favorite overall, but you can't go wrong with any of them except maybe the Levitation recordings. They are good performances, but the sound quality isn't great.

I don't think Bonnaroo '22 is out on vinyl yet. Early '23 is the earliest I have seen for a release date. Don't want him hunting for something that isn't out there yet. San Fran '16 is pretty easy to find.

Had no idea the vinyl was so elegantly etched! Never seen a combo of etched and playable vinyl on the same side of the disk before!

so the grooves are at the center and one song a side maybe?

#9145 1 year ago
Quoted from Dragon:

It's actually a double LP... The etched sides are one side if each disk... the other sides don't have etchings... on the sides with the etchings there's grooves in the center with the music... less music than on the other sides of course.

It is and it isn't. You can find bootlegs of it or it can be downloaded/bootlegged already:

I don't believe the "official" vinyl release is out yet, even though they have given it up to public domain.

I have gotten most all these from a seller in Brooklyn. His studio there and Europe.
No way I can verify authenticity, but the sound is fucking incredible. The market for 15ips 2 tracks is probably fairly limited these days!

Got this one in today. The whited out “client” is EMI Capital. I’m stoked to listen to it.
