I used to have that “Brain Salad Surgery” ELP record, but it has disappeared along the years. I may have to reacquire a copy.

Up the Irons !!
RIP Queen Elizabeth.
Long live the King.

Iron Maiden, Dance of Death, 2 LP, the recent press 2017? Not the crappy picture discs.....
But I got those too.... unfortunately they were the only version available until this press.

Paschendale and Montsegur are favorites

As I have mentioned previously, I have not had a turntable for several decades. In recent weeks I have been enjoying purchasing new records and filling in gaps for older ones. Today I have been enjoying some of my older vinyl, ones I have not played since the 80s.

During dinner I played The Rolling Stones "Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass)". I am not usually a fan of greatest hits albums, but this is a very nice compilation of the first two years of Stones material, and I have had it for something like 40+ years. Plus, I knew my wife would recognize most of it.

Next, I spun this at high volume, and did a deep listen. Again, I haven't played this since the 80s. It's a freakin' MASTERPIECE!

Thief soundtrack, 1981, Tangerine Dream,
Michael Mann's first film, James Caan's finest work..RIP...... the soundtrack that set the style for the 80's...... hell..... there might be no TNA soundtract without this album!
I saw Thief in the Theater with my brother twice, we thought it was simply the coolest movie ever, when we finally got a VCR in 1986 this was rented the first night, with Outland, and The Conversation.
Michael Mann would expand this story and Remake it into 1994's HEAT.
The new Criterion Blue Ray is excellent.
Both highly recommended.

Finally got to play some vinyl after persuading the wife to move all her papers off the lid of the deck!! Hopefully a habit she'll not get back into!! Playing Novy Svet double LP Todas Las Primeras Cosas ATM.

The New Scorpions album...
Rock Believer
This is the 2LP limited version with extra tracks.

In my opinion this is the best Scorps album since the late 80's.
It's also great to see Micky Dee Drumming with the Scorps, I got to meet him and Lemmy after a SD Motörhead show, super nice and talented guy.

Scorps released a lot of crap albums in the late 90's 2000's
This is a great return to form.

Nice haul! I saw the Reverend open for White Zombie a million years ago.

Last time we saw him was in 2012 in OH. In the early 90's I spent a ton of time at the Rodeo Bar on the corner of 27th, and 3rd in Manhattan where every Saturday night they'd have a different Rockabilly bands, and got to know a lot of them. That was my first exposure to RHH.

Headed to San Fran end of the month, anyone recommend some good record stores there? While at it ... any breweries and places for pins?

#8790 1 year ago

The Kezar pub is around the corner ...200 feet from Free Gold Watch, which is itself 300 feet from Ameoba Records in the Height.
And a block down the street is a Rasputin Records location.

That neighborhood is a Vinyl/pinball junkie heaven.
You must visit Free Gold Watch, if you've never been.

The Rasputin records location in San Jose is great, it's a huge store, as opposed to the much smaller height location.

The Berkley Ameoba has better prices from what I've heard, I've only been to the Frisco one.

Have Fun !

Just got an amazing mini collection of Japan Anime Soundtracts, and Drama/soundtracks.
These early 80's Lps have wonderful packaging, all come with full color glossy movie books inside.
Great thing is... none of these are expensive, it's great to get amazing mint albums for a steal.

4 Galaxy Express 999 albums 6 LPs
2 Captain Harlock albums 2 LPs
1 Space Battleship Yamato 2LP
All with Obi and inserts.
