Quoted from Jam_Burglar:

I see Songs in the Key of Life in there. Does it still have the 7" that came with it?
Also, the B-Side to that 3rd Bass 12" in nice. Derelicts of Dialect!

DANG Burglar, you gave me a BIG flashback. I had to run down and check the LP. It has been so long since I played that album that I had totally forgotten it had the little 7" with it.

That stack is duplicates and replacements, I do not believe that one did?

There's a nice drum break on the track "All Day Sucker". The track is actually great too.

Derelicts of Dialect has some really nice production work by Prince Paul.

Plus it's got the line "I got stacks of LP wax".

Nice little score for me this weekend.

I know you guys probably have some amazing players and systems. Show them off, please.

Bad ass stereo has made my world go around for about 30 years.

Your score included several of my favorites.... YES, Low Spark and Delaney and Bonnie.
Saw Bonnie Bramlett singing along with the Allman Brothers once in concert.

The only other album I have with a bonus 7" is Elvis Costello - Armed Forces.
Were there others you can remember?

#760 2 years ago

The latest speakers pickup: A set of JBL L80t, scored them off Craigslist. Currently waiting on a re-foam kit for them. Very excited.

Hmm, not any older records I can think of but Beck's "Mutations" came with a bonus 7" when it first came out, and the Beastie Boy's last album "Hot Sauce Committee Pt. II" came with a bonus 7" (a good one too).

#762 2 years ago

I've always been partial to Stevie Wonder's "Secret Life of Plants" which came with a scented LP cover!

They just keep accumulating.... between Pin's, Guitar's and Vinyl whose got money?

Nice, I have the same three vices. Although I have been moving some of the guitar money over to the pins and vinyl collumn.

Fairly obscure so it's not really fair...
It's Smashing Pumpkins Teargarden

I have extra LPs if anyone wants to trade:

The Stevie Wonder album is missing the booklet and the 45. I'm looking for 70's,80's, and 90's rock, metal, punk, and hardcore.

I loved the JBL sound. Great pickup! Those foam covers don't look bad at all.

Anyone within driving distance of Johnson City that wants a free pair of DCM Time Windows, let me know. They need new foam covers, original ones are gone. Probably a few dings as well. I hate to throw them out but it's time to clean out the storage room.

Thanks! Yeah the cloth screens are in decent shape, I was talking about the woofer foam its all rotted and turned to dust. New foam should be arriving today.

I have so much vinyl. I never really learned to "DJ", but in the days before the internet and Napster, the only way I could listen to the freshest drum & bass tunes from the UK was to go to the local record store and buy the imports. I barely made any money, but I had no qualms going out and spending $12 a pop for two - sometimes even one - songs.

I got wicked shit though. Metalheadz, Hospital, V, No U-Turn... if any of that shit rings a bell to you, excellent!

Oh and man did I buy any and all things Mo' Wax related. Holy cow I have some unnecessary shit.

#778 2 years ago

On with the "strange side". Handed down from my dad's small groups of LPs.

Had to "modify" the wife's bedroom furniture a bit to fit the Marantz receivers (2330b, 2285b, 2238b & 2218) I wired a 4-way speaker selector switch in reverse to the HD880's so I can switch between receivers.

Looks great, but I have to ask....what is the purpose?

Wait, when did my wife get on Pinside??? But seriously, the purpose is...ahhh, ummm, it's actually... you see the... ahhh...nope...I got nothing...

#785 2 years ago
Quoted from Methos:

A) Because it looks cool?
B) To have a back-up for your back-up for your back-up receiver?
C) Because Pinside has you accustomed to more than one pin so why not more than one receiver?
D) No rational reason?

I was anticipating the answer but the fact that you don't really have a good answer is 1000 times better.

old audio equipment is like gold to me. New audio equipment too.

#788 2 years ago

Picked this up last weekend mainly because of my love of all things Dracula. Just giving it a listen tonight and it's got some really good tunes on it, I could do without the movie clips but still pretty cool.

Just re-foamed a set of EPI's last night.
I never did it before. Was pretty easy!

Tonight I put them together and try them out. Can't wait!

Let me know how it went with yours.

Really working them out for the first time today. They really kick ass. The refoam turned out pretty well, not a super difficult process but you definitely can fuck things up! Here are some pictures of the final product...

This makes me happier than a pig in shit. I remember the look on my wife's face in 2005 when I told her that I was buying a record player and getting back in vinyl because I'd had it with CDs, they just didn't sound right. While it's made some aspects bad (high prices for records in dog condition, shitty re-issues pulled from digital source), the good totally outweighs the bad. Virtually every album released is out on vinyl! Who the hell ever thought that would happen? Not me.

Tommy Bolin plays out of his mind on that album. Oh yeah, Billy's pretty good too.
