Mobile Fidelity has released several of Dire Straits albums. If you can get them and don’t mind spending a little more highly recommend them (I have LOG on order). image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpg

Now that I got a a rig set up to play my vinyl I have cleaned, organized, and purged all my junk albums. On top of that I have a few jukeboxes. And when you have Jukes you tend to amass a ridiculous amount of 45’s. I pick them up cheap at garage/estate sales etc. I have been putting this off for quite a while but finally going through stacks/boxes of them. All my Jukes hold 100 records but it’s easy to fill it up so it’s nice to have a selection of records to rotate. I have 4 working and 2 more I am getting ready to restore so I am always looking for new records. Now when you buy stacks/boxes of records at a time you end up with tons of duplicates/crap and some interesting stuff. After cleaning well over 1000 45’s I don’t want to buy another LOL! But now is the fun part ….listening to all of them to find the keepers and purge the rest. Good thing is my wife is helping as her taste is quite a bit different and would hate to get rid of anything she wants. Part of the reason I need several Jukes is so I can have my music and she can have hers. A few pics to give you an idea of how many 45’s…..it’s a ton of work but love the thrill of the hunt to find some cool and interesting records.

Well I was not familiar with it…..found it while going through my 45’s and it scared the shit out of my wife as she was not expecting it. She looked at me and said it’s a keeper so it will go on one of my boxes.

No shit, seriously? Damn.

I first heard this song when I was around 11 years old, back in the mid-80's My dad had picked up a Juke and when he filled it with 45's, he put this one in. I remember playing it. The opening shoting I did NOT like at that age, but when when the song started, I loved it. I didn't really get the lyrics at the time, and was even more confused when my mom got angry at my dad for having that in there. I figured it was because of the 'bad word'.

Of course, THEN my mom found out that my dad ALSO put Clarance Carter's "Strokin'" in the juke. Yeah, I remember that didn't go over well either. Heh.

Both are in my juke now.

I gotta say, your Dad had good taste in music. Clarence Carter was really good. He did a song called Patches, around 1970, classic, poor son story.

Love me some Clarence Carter.
Love me with a Feeling is probably my favorite song of his… it’s blues and raunchy in all the right ways.

Time to start Friday night off right..
My wife wife really likes Rainbow. Just got this today.

I've come across some odd ones in my searches for 45's for my jukes...

One I can't find at the moment, but it contains 4 Coca-Cola radio commercials. Each side has two, and the spots are seperated - can't put it in my jukebox because one spot's runout does not lead into the other spot.

This one is similar, but contains short "breaks", meant to be played by a radio station between songs, breaks, and commercials (spots). They still do this today, by the way. Like the aforementioned Coke advertisement, these breaks are completely isolated, so one will not play into the other. I have a few vinyls of these:
cYFsAdc (resized).jpgcYFsAdc (resized).jpg

This one I saw and had to take home with me. For the price, I woulda gotten it ANYWAYS, but I thought this was neat to have.
seejQYO (resized).jpgseejQYO (resized).jpg

This one is interesting - I've never seen a one-sided 45. Yes, I tried playing it in my juke, but sadly, the uncut pattern isn't enough to cause the juke's needle to reject the record.
NTO4jBD (resized).jpgNTO4jBD (resized).jpg

This one has a little bit of a story. This is one of a set of records released by Rowe/AMI. These were available from the manufacturer, and to be used if you installed an accessory called the "Play-Me" in your Juke. This accessory essentially turned your juke into an adverstiment. When installed, if no selections are made within a set (configurable) time, the juke would automatically play a record. You could have it play a full song if you wanted - or get one of these, which were popular artists (at the time) that promoted "Play a song in the bar!" type messages. Yes, they were all made out of red vinyl, even back then.
UOYCo6J (resized).jpgUOYCo6J (resized).jpg

I have some other strange ones, including a complete NASA recording of the first lunar landing.

Aah, things you find in the cheap bins at vinyl stores.

New Shipment from Japan.
Judas Priest, Point of Entry.
Been looking for POE for awhile, the copy I got is stunningly clean and minty. Probably the nicest vintage record I've bought.

The Japanese record buyers kept very good care their collections. Sounds spectacular.

Deep Purple, Concerto for group and orchestra. 1969. Jon Lords magnum opus.
This is the 1977 6th or 7th Japan press? They love Blackmore and Purple in Japan.
It's amazing how many times the Purple and Rainbow catalogue was pressed in Japan from 1970-1985, all with different Obi's.
A collectors nightmare.

I agree it was a very confusing release. Seems that it was released on RSD in the UK but the release was somehow botched in the US. It is one of my favorite records and I’ll admit, I paid a premium for it.

I was also skeptical of the hype after so many attempts at releasing it through the years all claiming to finally get the mix right. But believe me, this truly is a phenomenal mix of this album and it lives up to every bit of the hype. It sounds the way I suspect it should have on first release.

I hope it gets a wider release. L.A.M.F. Is one of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll records ever recorded by one hell of a band and it deserves to be heard in this presentation. If you can track one down, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Prince, Welcome 2 America. Deluxe Edition. 2Lp 1 CD 1Blueray. Poster, booklet, and other ephemera.

Recorded and finished in 2010, shelved for no known reason.
Released last month.

Amazing old school early 70's styled soul.
If you dig early solo Curtis Mayfield you will like this.
The female backup singers are a high point.

The blue ray is a full show from the Forum in 2011, during the 21 nights in Los Angeles.
Great stuff.

The mind boggles, that a gorgeous album like Welcome 2 America was shelved.
Prince focused on near constant touring from 2010-2016 and released no albums from 2010 2013, he had released almost an album a year for his entire career.

This is the first full new music studio album released from the legendary VAULT.

And by all accounts there are dozens of Full Albums that Prince recorded and put in the vault. Crazy!
Who knows what amazing stuff will be unearthed.
Thankfully all the Vault contents have been moves to Iron Mountain in Hollywood and has been catalogued and digitized.

This is Amazing also,
Prince, Originals 2 LP.
These are the songs he wrote and gave to others, most became huge hits.
These are his Originals, Prince singing and guitar, and probobly every other instrument.
Genius.

Any old-school Country/Folk guys here? I have another 45 test pressing record. Completely unlabeled. One side is Gary Stewart's 'Cactus and a Rose'. However, the other side is unrecognizable by any song-search I've been able to find and send it through. Would like some help trying to identify it.

It’s great to see all the love for prince in here. I am from Detroit Michigan and the legendary late night d j - mojo brought me to prince.

I bought 1999 and purple rain. I went to parties as a tenth grader with girls wearing camisoles.

Prince took the clothes off of the party. Many of the girls. My little brain was getting something it liked.
