Habibi Funk was in the mail this morning. I ordered it mainly for the opening track Fadoul, Bsslama Habiti.
The double album is a compilation of North African rock and funk from a time when the Arab world was more progressive i guess.
First impression is that i got a very unpolished gem in my collection.

EDIT: it's rough at times. the Algerian and Sudan tracks are quite nice. acquired taste warning!

Much any big album for 99 cents. Floyd, stones, who etc it was all cheap and plentiful so I could build my music collection that way rather than $15-20 a

My first BIG vinyl collection was built in the early 90s, by myself, riding from dumpster to dumpster and filling the milk crate and canvas bags I had strapped to a rack on my MTB.
LPs were almost to the point where people would pay you to come and haul them away back then.

I had a pretty sweet vinyl collection in the 90's as well. Nothing was over $1 at flea markets. I also picked through an 80's DJ booth for free. All worn, but some great stuff. I'm not sure where in my irresponsible youth I lost track of it. easily 200 albums. I've re-bought many at $20-25. I still think about seeing the stash in the boxes I left then in at a flea market or yard sale. One in a million I know.
Bridge of Sighs,, a CLASSIC! All Hendrix fans out there should checks out Robins albums (except Caravan to Midnight and In City Dreams, he kinda dropped the ball on those two) on Chrysalis. His later albums with Procol Harum (Home and Broken Barricades) before he went solo are great too.

Does anyone remember Caldor? We had a good laugh about some of the stores that have come and gone last night when I pulled this one out. I picked this one up second hand, sadly was a bit too young in the Caldor days to buy vinyl. I was in the cassette stage.
Such a great album. The first side is pure gold.

We had a store here in Salt Lake called "Tape Head Company" that sold records, tapes (8-track and cassette) posters, bongs, papers, etc. car stereos (with an installation dept.) sold and rented video tapes (VHS and Beta) and other items. They had a letter based pricing system similar to your Caldor, plus you could get a discount if you had one of their "discount cards" which I had. They were located at 665 South State Street from about 1969 to 1985. I bought a lot of records/8-tracks there over the years, and a couple car stereos.

So glad to have this back. Sounds amazing and I don’t have to race off the couch to lift the needle when record is over like a savage.
I can even play the same side of a record 3 hours straight like I did a couple days ago.
Best $289 I’ve spent in a while.

I have the Music For The Masses singles boxed set on the way as well but I’ll be stopping there for a while! I have had the Mofi 45 rpm boxed set of Donal Fagen Nightfly in my eBay cart for the past week, I just can’t justify pulling the trigger on almost $400 in vinyl. I just keep it there to remind me what could be.
