Quoted from KnockerPTSD:

Has anyone had any dealings with Al Amurault
in Nova Scotia? Company is Silverballgames.
Looking at a game he has for sale. Legit guy?
silverballgames.ca

I have dealt with and shipped to Al many times but all on the selling end. He always paid promptly and was easy to deal with for the most part (we eventually had a falling out). So anyone selling to him should not have an issue. However I can't speak to purchasing games from him. I know he routes games in Dartmouth so expect any purchases to have heavy plays.

I tipped him off about the MI Blackout.

Your relatives should be due for a visit. Time to pack up the family (and Blackout cough cough) and head up to Canada for a weekend

I am not sure if you have already looked at this, but anyone in the Vancouver area might want to check this out. There is a group buy of pins from Italy about to happen. They will arrive in Seattle but the border “should” be open by then...if not someone could probably store them until the border opens up.

If you are interested, more details and the list of machines is at: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/pacific-northwest-buyerssellers-thread/page/75#post-5723619

Looked into the container buy quite carefully, unfortunately with the exchange, shipping and border taxes, decent deals turn into not so much. So frustrating as there were some hard to find titles such as CSI, Baywatch, 24 but the math just didn't make sense, plus of course the border uncertainty.

#14008 3 years ago

No One can say when the border should be open and in bc I imagine we will keep it closed as long as possible.

I’d love a bay watch one day though.

It appears the link is dead - not your link but the link to the container.

anyone else have packages waiting at the border? I have like 13 sitting there since March....
But the numbers are stark and I honestly don't expect to be able to pick them up until 2021. (nothing is worth the price of having them re-shipped to my home)

If I hadn't just picked up a sega star wars, I'd be interested in your Data East one. It seems to be in great shape, and fairly priced. Good luck with both sales!

If so, I need a couple delivered from Toronto to Buffalo.

Yes. I have a pinball barstool and a Marco order. Got a broker quote and it was more than the value of the goods! Only option I guess though

I think Day and Ross might be able to help you. I think they do cross border shipping or have partners that do.

Give them a call.

I’m selling my HUO AC/DC Premium.
Low plays, mint condition. Open to trades as well.

$9200 OBO. Thanks!

How does the broker option work? I have about 20 packages sitting at a parcel service in Niagara Falls that I am desperate to get? The company won’t ship the items for me, just hold them. At this point, I’m willing to suck it up and pay whatever tax and fees there is as I’m losing money everyday they sit there.

The place I use in Blaine, wa offered to broker them. I could also just leave them there for a dollar a week storage. Obviously cheaper but I worry they might get misplaced if they get too backed up.

Sega South Park

I use MyUSAddress and they have the broker and re-mail thing built right into their services. But after paying duty the duty + normal service charge, you also have a "Push It North" service charge, and have to pay for mailing it all over again.

Yeah it’s messed up. I guess I’ll wait another month or two, maybe I can get them then.

Has anyone (besides Ed Robertson) got a TMNT in Canada yet?

Rob

#14026 3 years ago

Games should be shipping from the States. I just had a new bbq shipped to me from China via dhl. Shipped on the 30th of June. Landed in Cincinnati on the 1st and up to Calgary on the 2nd. Was actually surprised how fast it arrived in Canada.

Cool, was wondering if locations would be investing in new games with all that is going on.

#14029 3 years ago

There will be two NIB games at Arkadium Retro Arcade very soon as well. If people support location pinball then no issue in bringing in the new games

How do games do in a casino? Are they in the bar/lounge area? I wish the Edmonton casinos would have had pins in them when I lived there. Would have saved me a lot of money

#14035 3 years ago

Anybody have The Shadow floating around? I’m not looking too seriously at the moment. Just curious what’s out there. I’m near Vancouver.

They do ok, not as good right now with Covid crap.
We have 16 games on the bowling alley side.
Also they have redemption games, mini golf, pool tables.

that's a good idea. So many casinos have square-footage to burn. I'd actually set foot in a casino if they set up like the 10 latest machines in one corner.
The power situation is in check, they have ridiculous parking lots, they never seem full... Might help ease things if one half of a couple wants to gamble and the other doesn't. Well actually I don't even know if that's a real problem in search of a solution lol

Man that's quite a casino. Arcade, bowling, mini golf. I probably wouldn't even be tempted by the slots and tables. You could have fun all night at a fraction of what you could lose at the slots in a half hour

Yeah this place sounds wicked. Combine a fun center with a casino...so long as there’s a poker room I’d be in heaven

You can still hit a golf ball pretty far with a putter.

Hi there, I am hoping to canvass this groups help in getting an Asteroid Annie And the Aliens (Sys 80 Gottlieb) to an owner in Canada that would appreciate it for what it is: a very rare (~200 produced) machine with amazing artwork and simple but fun play: it kind of reminds me of a more modern Strange World (EM Gottlieb).

I drove in winter crap conditions 1000 kms to get this: it did not power on and had no backglass (orig was smashed during a previous move). Some of you might have seen the ad. I'm surprised one of you in northern AB didnt pick it up.

Anyhow, I bought a repro backglass (BG Resto), and a new Pascal all in 1 board, and repinned all molex connectors. It works flawlessly now and glows like only incandescant beauty can. The cabinet has some minor dings etc, its not pristine, but it is a very very good example and the playfield is 10/10! It wasn't used much and I think it was because of the on-board battery (leaked) and not savvy previous owner(s)? I have an original Gottlieb manual for it also.

Do you know someone with a collection and would be seeking a rare machine? Im not seeking top dollar but I would like to get fair value for it - whatever that is? What would be fair market value? Terribly subjective question I know, but to start with I was hoping $3500 Can. Your constructive advice is appreciated. Feel free to PM with any interest.
Hope all is well with you, cheers.

Ive over filled on projects.
I have a Firepower i dont think ill have time for any time soon. 4 other games to work on this summer.
Its in pretty good shape for a Firepower.
I put a new plug end, leg brackets, leg levelers and flippers since ive had it. Also LEDd the backglass and partially LEDd the playfield.
Flipper mechs arent new but i swapped some parts out from a game with better ones.
No board damage. Cabinet not bad. Playfield pretty good other than wear at the right sling. Backglass has common flaking issues but not too bad. No switch errors but it keeps repeating the phrase "you won one mission" for no.reason during play so clearly there is a switch triggering somewhere that shouldnt be. Im going to put it up on Kijiji this weekend.
$2,000 obo

Was wondering about the general rule of thumb on payments/how buying pins actually goes across country --- I'm in the middle of negotiations on a pin from BC and I know there's the usual 'check for references' type situation -- but for actual payments, is it customary to pay all upfront or pay a deposit until the pin is actually shipped/delivered?

Apologies for the noob question, I've just not done this before and not looking to make problems for anyone -- thanks for the input!

Do your due diligence. Send a transfer. Hope for the best lol.
If you can get someone trusted to verify the game is all good before before hand, even better. Ask pinsiders. We help our own. Im sure someone in BC would be happy to check the game/buyer out for before you hand over any money.

#14046 3 years ago

I have bought long distance and in my experience it is expected to be paid in full up front. I get it, I would not ship a pin without payment. That being said I did everything I could to confirm it was legit. I asked about the person on here, checked their reputation, I made them send me a picture of themselves and their drivers license. It's a lot of money to just blindly send with very little recourse. I know Nitro has facilitated shipping for people.

#14047 3 years ago

Yes paid full in advance. Lots of communication and even videos help. Have a local check it out if possible as others have said. Trust is a must. Sellers reputation on the line and it is a small community.

#14048 3 years ago

Obviously what you guys were just talking about requires a lot of trust (sending an e-transfer to a person you don't know.

What are opinions on paying through a pinball repair place and having them take care of shipping? Would it be tough finding the right place to do that (assuming a busy enough area that even has a repair place around)? Obviously cost would be more, but the fear of being ripped off would drop significantly.

With my most recent long distance purchase, the seller was not familiar eniugh with his game to ship it and had no ties to the community. I found a local.pinside in good repute and he went to pick up the game to take it to the depot for me. I sent the seller the full amount before hand but did not send the password until my pinsider friend gave me the thumbs up.

#14050 3 years ago

References from sellers last sale(s) also very effective. Using a shop as a transfer point is a good idea if you have the option.
