I've said it before, and I'll say it again: chill out on the price policing. Don't like it? Don't buy it. You think you're helping the hobby by commenting on how you think the price is too high? You're not, you just scare people out of putting games up for sale. If the games get listed are high, the market will answer by not buying them, and the buyer will lower the price (if they want to sell it). If they sell, the price was right, at least for the person buying it. All this "back in my day" crap doesn't matter. Back in 2013 I bought TOTAN from Dan for $7k. People told me that was too much, that I could buy a new game for that price, but I didn't want a new game, I wanted TOTAN, and it was a nice game that I was happy to spend the money for. Look at that game now, if you got a nice one for $7k you would shit your pants at your good fortune (except, from what I can tell, you crotchety old fucks will shit your pants anyways, over seemingly nothing). When I bought my Swords Of Fury, there was the hilariously popular "SOF is a $1500 game!" thread. I imported it, brought it back from the dead and was more than happy to be more than $1500 into it. If you got a $1500 SOF now, you would, similarly, shit your pants. On the flipside, when I bought my GOT Prem I was in for over 10k, and sold for under 10k (it was a trade+cash) and that was fine too, because everything comes out in the wash in this hobby if you stay in it long enough.
Let me repeat that, if you stay in this hobby, it all comes out in the wash. If you want to make money, invest in my soundcloud rap career, my mixtape is hot fire. If you want to play pinball, shut up and have fun.

Also, nobody is forcing you to buy games you fucking junkies, go support your local pinball locations.

Quoted from Darscot:

I would not call it lucrative, I don't see this as profitable. I think its a great way to find a pin your after for a good price, its just about acquiring pins. I enjoy working on pins so I figure at $3750 for a BSD I will probable sink another grand or so into it. ColorDMD, new cabinet decals, LED and some misc and I should have a very nice BSD for $5000 Canadian. I'm doing this as a hobby because I enjoy it. If your trying to do this for profit your going to be very underwater on labour. I'm hopeful if I decide to move it I should be able to get back the money I put into it. If I wanted profit you would make more an hour working fast food. Here is a link to the buy but its closed now but it will give you an idea whats available.
http://container.proludio.com

When I said 'lucrative' what I meant was do they still make sense with our crappy dollar knowing you'll need to drop a lot of time and money to bring it up to snuff when the title is likely available somewhere for around the same price?

I have/had two container games back when the dollar was closer to par; $1500 for Revenge From Mars that only needed a cleaning and the monitor repaired, $1500 for a Road Show that was a money pit and still needs a playfield swap. Yeah it's a crap shoot what you'll get.

Honestly don’t disagree with most of what you wrote but similarly to your suggestion of ignoring the price of games if you don’t like the price you can ignore the price policing too.

Price policing is not going anywhere any time soon just like people asking more for their games than others would like to pay, any attempts to stop either is futile imo.

#11906 4 years ago

Price policing can be helpful sometimes if something is grossly overpriced. Some new collectors might be unaware.

A little extra gravy is ok though if you can get someone to bite.

Price policing the met is complimentary as everyone seems to agree it’s a great deal. Games in Victoria and nanaimo usually are due to less collectors there and it’s an all day trip for someone on mainland to go pick up a game.

Quoted from Tuxedomask23:

A stand up guy for sure. I recently picked up twd from him and had it shipped from BC to AB and he took the utmost care packing it. The game was also basically brand new! Buy with confidence.

Thanks Christian! So glad you are enjoying the game. A pleasure to deal with you.

Quoted from RumRunner9:

Glws.. sad you’re selling met, but kudos on the gentleman’s pricing. Refreshing Sir

Thank you.
Honestly, MET just sits covered and it deserves to be played. I'll be happy when whoever buys it is having a great time playing it.
I'm just more interested in my stand up classic arcade games and fixing them up.

Quoted from Meegis:

Have a couple things ready to leave.
1975 gottlieb soccer. This is a 2 player game. There is a 4 player version called super soccer. Ive been told this is more rare, but honestly I couldn't say for sure.
Backglass is decent, game plays 100%, stood up to league play and has never had any major issues. Playfield is good, plastics all good and an extra set comes included (used, but nice to have backups)
I can email or text pics to anyone interested.
Asking $1250 obo, happy to ship at buyers expense.
Next,
I have a brand new never opened run dmd clock. It is still sealed in the box it was sent to me in. This is the large version
clock description:
assembled using custom laser-cut acrylic panels, the clocks use (2) two P5 sized rgb LED panels, which are mounted side-by-side to display the 128x32 dot resolution (just like a pinball DMD). each clock measures approximately 28.00" (w) x 7.50" (h) x 1.50" (d)
although the clock can only display monochrome colored animations, the user has the ability to select between one of 7 colors (red, green, blue, yellow, magenta, teal or white) by toggling the six dip switches accessible from the backside of the clock
Cost was $450 USD, plus shipping/duties/taxes
Hoping to get back what I spent, but realize I may lose my ship/tax/duties.
Any questions please let me know
Thanks!

Clock has been sold (surprised how many people contacted me about it)

Soccer still available to anyone who's wants to rip some double spinners!

That clock is amazing! Congrats to whoever got it....they will enjoy it.

Gottlieb Soccer is such a great EM. Don't sleep, people! It's got the very satisfying backbox bonus balls, two great spinners, and a bit of real-time strategy in regards to trying to cash out your bonus mid-ball

Is there a list of Canadian stores to buy from online somewhere buried in this topic? A kind soul referred me to flippers.com one day that lead to my first pin (TSPP). I can say that John was terrific and I highly recommend them, and I keep checking to see what he has listed.

Any other online stores like his? Preferably Ontario.

pinballmedics.ca is in Ontario, and I believe they sell both parts and full pinball machines. I've only bought parts from them in the past, but I was happy with the transaction.

retroactivearcade.ca is in Alberta, and is where I always buy my t-molding from. Great parts and service. They once in a while have pinball machines and parts, though they are usually mostly arcade cabinet based.

absolutepinball.com is in Saskatchewan, and they sell both pinball machines and parts. I've never bought anything from them, but I check the website from time to time to see what machines they have in.

It was $6600 CAD, right?
Never seen flippers.com before but one thing I'll give them credit for is actually putting prices up on their site instead of "call us for price!"
They also have an impressive variety of old arcade things, so that's at least cool to see.

Thanks! I’d love that Phantom but $7000 for a beat up one? Ugh.

Also, keep an eye on kijiji. Occasionally a legit sale at good price comes through. Although, you have to watch it like a hawk to get first reply.

Putting my Baywatch up forsale $5200obo (come at me pricing police).

If any of you were at YEGpin last year it would have been seen there.

I just recently restored it from the playfield up. Took everything off, cleaned, polished and waxed the playfield. Put all new posts and titan rubbers on. Cleaned and flame polished all the ramps. Put a new set of plastics on (still have all the originals as well). Put Cliffys on shark and earthquake hole. Full LED conversion which I think really makes this game pop (still have a couple spotlights and back strip light to install but not stock on the game). Installed mirror blades and probably the greatest feature on the game is the XL Color DMD. Also have some funko pop figurines of Pam and the hoff that we’re on the machine previously.

Side cabinet is in great condition, head cabinet has a couple scuffs. But over all in really nice condition.

Yep, one of my first purchases from them was for Embryon. I was new to pinball and actually paid $7000 for an Embryon.......
Lesson learned.

I saw the pinbot the other day when there. It is a really nice machine but at 7000 its still there so that speaks for itself I guess.

Selling my Metallica Pro by Stern. I'm the original owner. HUO.
Game is in excellent condition. It's mostly just sat covered since new.
Has the pinnovators pcb sub hookup installed but no other mods.
Also comes with the pinnovators expander so you can have up to 4 pinball machines hooked up to a single sub.
This is the newer style with factory led's and metal backbox.
Price is firm.
Leaving the short lived hobby of 5 years to concentrate on my stand up arcade game collection.
I just put it on the Victoria Craigslist
It's also on the Vancouver Craigslist.
Game located in Victoria, BC
$6000

Metallica is now sold. Thanks very much for the interest.

I wish at the time I had bought yours as well... I don't think I will even get half of what I paid.
It's a nice game but even at $3500 (half) it's going to sit a very long time I think..maybe forever. LOL
