Stupid question. Getting hit up by the usual kijiji scammers. The ones that want to send an agent then PayPal the money.

Call me dumb, but if the money is send as a gift the buyer can't put a claim in to PayPal and get that money back no?

Now I realize a scammer would likely only do it as a purchase then submit a claim the second the machine left my house but I guess I'm dumb for not fully understanding PayPal. How does someone get burned this way.

Game is home, set-up, looking great and playing even better. Thanks to Paul for a super easy transaction!

Right back at you. Always nice to have a no bs deal happen. Enjoy, was a hard game to let go of.

All of these scams work pretty much the same way. They figure out a way to bounce a paypal payment. Make a deal with you and get what they want from you before you know you never had the money in the first place. Another popular move is "accidentally" pay you in $US which you gladly refund the difference. Problem is your payment goes through, theirs bounces. They never come for the machine because they aren't in the country to begin with. Nothing new under the sun. Paypal, wire transfer, checks, these things evolve with the tech but its the same old scam.

It's very simple dude. Don't accept PayPal unless it's your friend or someone you know that's reputable in the pinball community. Even if they send you money as a "gift" or under "family/friends" they can still open up a claim. But doubt anyone would have the balls to do that if they are around your area lol, since you have all their info. Accept only cash or wires. Once a wire is made to your account, they can never get it back so you're good to go. I had many people contact me with sketchy responses and I simply said "can't do it". Never bothered me once

Sorry to be slightly off topic, but I'm looking for a Golden Tee Fore Complete board. I have a working GT 2005, so I'd also be interested in the chip upgrade. If anyone has any leads, please fire me a pm. I'll also be in Edmonton for YEGPIN, so I can arrange a deal there if it works out.

I have a rottendog system 11a and 11b mpu for sale if anyone is interested. I will be in calgary next weekend. I had picked it up for the f14 I used to have but then never end up using it.

For paypal scams, if the money shows up in your paypal account is there any way they can still scam you at that point, or are you in the clear then?

#6465 7 years ago

Also I will probably be letting go of my Sinbad in the next month or 3... Comes with a Pascal all-in-one boardset, and a spare touched-up and clearcoated old playfield. One of my favourite games, but need the money to cover my NGG purchase.

Honestly, I'm not sure why everyone is confused by this....

#1. If someone wants to pay with Paypal, tell them to get... even if they offer above asking price....clue in...

#2. Anything that involves Paypal and another person picking up..... no chance

#3. Ask yourself this.... Why the HELL would someone offer to buy a game and pay with Paypal if they or there "friend" can pick it up. 100% scam everytime.

And to answer the question, YES 100% they can still scam you. There is only 1 way to avoid any problems... accept payment, transfer it to your bank account, close your Paypal account AND your bank account. They still may come after you but at least they cant just take your money.

cash is king !

Here is the replies I sent when I had my Elvis listed this past month:

Q> Will you take a certified cheque? My friend will pick up for me.
A> Sure, but I will need to wait 21 business days for it clear
Never heard back from nearly the dozen people trying the scam

Q> Will you take PayPal? I will arrange shipping
A> Sure, but I will need to wait 30 business days for it clear
Never heard back from either person

Q> What forms of payment do you accept?
A> Cash and livestock

#6470 7 years ago

It's funny. I've never had a paypal scammer for a pinball machine. It's usually on smaller priced items $200 to $500 that I get the currently serving in Afghanistan and will have friend pick up message.

Update: ghostbusters is now traded

Thank you for a great transaction
I love this game

I've seen a couple times with PayPal scams that they say you will receive the payment and you will get an email saying you received this amount from so and so and it has looks like the usual one you would get,but you go login to your PayPal and there's no payment there.

I've decided to part with my ACDC Luci. It's bone stock except for Cliffy protectors on the jukebox and bell saucers. I bought this game NIB and it's never left my basement since.

Price is $10500. Located in Regina. Pickup only.

I have to say B.C. Is a different market than Alberta or sask for machines
Very dry for machines out here in B.C. But I do notice the preferred advertising is craiglist

You must be in semi retirement mode in Kelowna!!

Taking long walks along the lake and heading to the Cactus Club!!

You can always play the beat up pins at Scandia. Went there last summer only to have all 3 out of order. Get out your toolbox and fix them!!

Right back at ya! Playing it right now

#6488 7 years ago

Ha ha figure I better change my location
Can't believe how long it's been already

Even if I could I don't think I would be semi retired ...pins would work me to death

Hi all

The time has come for AC/DC Premium to find a new home. If I don't find any trades (see below), I will consider cash sale.

It has some dings and has been played (RUO!). The AUX board has been replaced with a REV 2 board (2 months ago). Cliffy's installed in shooter lane. One inside cabinet ding. Very recently shopped, black rubber replaced with white. Also has full Helen (Aurich) translight and extra's.

I am valuing this at $8600 cash (includes taxes), $8900 with Helen kit. I would prefer cash plus a machine.

If a trade is involved, machine needs to be 100% working, but cosmetics don't really matter. (it will be going straight to route). I am looking for the following machines:

Early Stern/Bally's from the 80's -
EBD
Quicksilver
Centaur
etc.

Williams/Bally's from the early 90's -
Funhouse
World Cup Soccer
Addams Family
Attack From Mars
IJ 93'
Creature from the Black Lagoon
etc.

Stern Pro's from the 2010's -
Spiderman
ACDC Pro
Star Trek

Prefer not to ship. Local pick up preferred as all my time is taken up by the new baby.
