    Looking for diagnosis/repair on a rottendog mpu327.
    Anybody??

What issues and for what game? I am pretty sure there is a lifetime warranty on the boards if you send it to them. I just hope that you will not mention that the board is currently in a system 7 game, as it has been known for a while about sound issues in most sytem 7 games.

chrishibler would be happy to look at it.

    Laser ball williams system 6
First no sound, now it's not booting up.
Was told to swap ICs (by Tom)and it only made it worse. I'm not real good at electronic troubleshooting,so I was hoping someone could check the board for me without me doing all the work and killing the board

Can you post a picture of the board? Which IC's were you asked to swap?

I know I had read a lot of the boards having NVRAM issues, even replacement ones from Rottendog. I understand it is a special NVRAM for this 327 board.

No nvram here. It's got a battery
Jim told me to swap the lower 1 of the two at top right of board for the bottom 1 on lower left that ccontrols sound. Now it's not doing anything. LEDs do come on

Is that your actual board? Just wanted to help confirm the part is in the right direction. You may want to remove it to be sure you did not bend any pins putting it in a socket. Also tried the old part?

    #7 4 months ago

Here is a pic of my actual board. And yes, probably bent pins and destroyed my chip or socket. Thats why a person should be able to send these out for service

Maybe its the picture but the socket for the large chip slightly below the middle of the board looks alittle strange, bulging alittle on the lower side. Is that one of the chips you been moving about?

    #9 4 months ago

Never removed that chip. But I have made sure they have all been seated. Must be the photo

The chip looks bulged out because RD used the cheaper open frame sockets with no crossbar(s). Normal for that kind of socket.

I would put the original part back in to see if it boots again.

    #12 4 months ago

It doesn't. Jim doesn't answer his phone or email. I don't accept slack customer service like this,so I went and ordered a kohout board. I'll never by a rotten dog board ever again. The service just simply sucks. All they want to do it sell, not service.

I am not a fan of Rottendog MPU or driver boards, pretty much for any game.

LED displays for system 11 and Data East I have used and never had issues with since these have much less things to fail on them.

K's Arcade also repairs Rottendog boards. I don't know who else does.

    Thanks. Sending it to K's

Board was diagnosed and is unfixable. Will not boot. Something "internal"
Like I said above. Not buying a rottendog board ever again.
    Thanks for the replies

The Rottendog board? If so, is it being replaced?
