I paid Jack as soon as he asked for it. If that means I'm higher on the list, then I'm stoked. I guess I'll be shooting that first unboxing video. whaaaa whaaaaa
Quoted from hollywood:At the end of the day…..who cares? I have a MMRLE on order. I chose black. I paid in full back in July. I still thank Rick and everyone at PPS for making my ability to have a MM come true. I've waited this long, what is another couple of weeks? Need I mention WOZ, PRED…. (both have had their independent frustrations)?
Rick will deliver and I am confident it is better late than never.
What he said!
My 2 cents.. So from my point of view, I really don't consider the resale value. This is a game that has been on my wish list for a few years now. I want to have a perfect MM to play and I will most likely never sell it. So really the machine is made for me. Perfect. I'm happy I'm not spending 10 grand for a "great condition" original MM that will most likely have an array of issues right out the door for me to work out. They are never what they promise they are. I know there is no board work, no BS hiding in the machine. Perfect example is the MM my buddy just bought for more than these MMRLE's cost and he spent 2 months working out the gremlins and fixing crap that was not disclosed. So for me, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. To get an original in "as new" condition probably costs 20 grand for a HEP because its worth it. In that case I'm fine with 8 grand and I'm not the only one. Once these hit our hands and we report on them, I think people will jump in to grab whatever MMRLE's were left on the shelves in 2 seconds flat.

Holy sh__ their website is completely down.
Edit: and now its back.
Quoted from Whysnow:It is actually pretty easy to get a rough estimate of BOM for building a pinball machine if you are even remotely in any circle and paying attention. This is a pinball forum where actual pinheads like to discuss fun things like "how much do you think it costs to build a game?" I know you like to think it is all about you and that we are all obsessed with PPS, but trust me we are just obsessed with pinball in general
I don't even need to come up with a BOM to know that you are making bank on MMr.
It really comes down to you are a savvy and by many accounts, cutthroat, businessman.
If Stern can develop and build a completely new machine every 4 months from ground up and charge less than 5k (while paying artists and designer and... that comes with actually making a completely new game), then I sure hope you are able to remake a game that is 20 years old and already had the vast majority of parts already engineered/designed for even less than they can.
If Spooky can develop and build a new company and new machines on a small scale from the ground up and change less than 6k...
Basically, if you are not making at least 3k profit per MMr then I am going to have to second guess how savvy of a businessman you really are.
Nothing wrong with making an honest buck, but seems silly to try and come on a hobby forum and attempt to down play your profits to the people buying the games while essentially not even providing any real info.
Glad you are finally getting games out the door soon and making lots of people happy that want them.
When do you expect to have the last LE delivered?
When will the first LE be delivered?
What games are being made first/delivered first?
Why does anyone give a crap what he makes? I'm stoked a get a NIB of one of my grail machines that was looking more like it was going to be a $15K check if I wanted to get one remotely close to new about 8 months ago. He is gambling on something new and unique in its own right, and deserves to make money. Not like he's doing this in his garage, there are startup costs and money that has to be raised in order to bring this to reality. Some of you folks must have never owned a business and have no comprehension about RISK/REWARD. Thats what this is all about. Look it up.
I'm contacting you from the future. I have great news. I finally got my MMRLE. Its awesome! But I should have waited to pay in full. I think they made a few bucks on interest on me. I think they are still going to sell me the color DMD upgrade soon. It ended up that only PPS can make the color work.
I read that it should be available any day now on the embedded forum reader on my artificial eyeball. They did center the start button. The triple led thingy is working well when an LED burns out. And the coin mech is no longer a big deal, there is no money in the future. Oh, and I'm happy I chose black. We all have guns now. Bye
OK just bill me the shipping, send me my MMRLE and I'll take an extra MPU board and a couple of the custom sub boards from under the playfield for my safe, and I'm good to go for 20 years.. LETS DO THIS.
Quoted from jalpert:There isn't nothing that can't be repaired on any of the boards. (expect maybe the CPU, it's so cheap that it doesn't make sense)
Ah yeah, you haven't seen my CPU desoldering skills. They call me the trace killer I'll send my MMR boards to you for repair then.
Not trying to get anyone in trouble. But here's the story. I spoke to someone at the Arcade Expo. Someone who's company works closely with Stern. This is secondhand, but he told me that he just spoke to the factory and the delay will now be until March. I completely hope this is BS. But I'm in the boat with you guys on my order and I'm passing this along. We'll know in the next couple of days.
Quoted from PPS:Cross posted from the PPS Forum a few minutes ago on MMR Status - just had an email status from Ray Tanzer at Stern (our Stern project leader) as well as just got off phone with Doug Duba (Chicago Gaming):
Production is starting: most of this update is from Ray Tanzer (Sterns main guy) earlier today and Doug Duba (Chicago Gaming) tonite
- Sub-Assembly production is in process - major sub-assembly stations are assembling the major sub-assemblies (per Stern today) - 35 people were working yesterday and today(!) (per Doug tonite)
- Playfield Assembly - first playfields are on the line and moving down the assembly line (per Stern today) - 20 playfields on line right now (per CGC tonite) - about 10 nearly and 10 at earlier in the line (per Doug tonite)
- Main production of cabinet and backbox has started (per Stern today)
- Test Fixtures are now at Stern for castle mech and playfield final test and bringup
- Expected first games off the line late this week, latest Mon/Tues if any bumps - those will all be thoroughly checked and reviewed to insure that line and all elements are set right (per Stern today)
- Packaging is done and being shipped to Stern during the week in various batches.
Doug Duba is mainly at Stern this week working with SPI (Stern) sorting out any last minute details (per Stern today)
Rick expected to fly out this weekend/early next week sometime to review the line and the first batch of games and apply the WMS holograms to the first game!
