Quoted from dkazz1:

Do you even read his updates or are you just a negative Nancy? You've got be a real treat to be around......go and re-read his post.

Yes, I read every post on the PPS boards. The production timeline updates the last few weeks have been all fluff and written to imply that the game was practically on the line, which as we now see were optimistic interpretations at best and just stringing people along at worst.

Basic questions on MMR timeline and/or project steps/requirements are ignored on the PPS boards. jalpert had a bunch of good ones, yet saw nothing in response.

Rick told everyone that we didn't know what we were talking about and yet he doesn't want to answer any questions that would educate. All this has done is disappoint those that were convinced they would see their games before Thanksgiving, then by Thanksgiving and now by Christmas. It just boggles my mind that people continue to give a free pass to PPS/CG for such behavior.

(And yes, I'm apparently a real treat to be around. People that know me say I'm one of the nicest and most generous people they've ever met. They also know I (a) keep my word, (b) have a very long memory if someone is dishonest with or takes advantage of me and (c) have a damn good bullshit detector).

Lol because that is how people talk in real life... "You're the most specialist, nicest, kindest, caringest, lovingest person in the world..." (A) friends usually don't lie to your face, sometimes, but not often or they're just not friends, so pretty much anyone who has a friend "keeps their word" with their friends (b) that's funny people tell you that your good at holding grudges, not something people usually compliment on, and (c) you sure they didn't say "you're full of bullshit"?

People keep asking asinine questions of PPS, as if they are entitled to know the inner workings of their production line because they bought an $8k machine...

You're a clown...

I'm curious when the last time a pinball manufacturer met their production timeline was. Has it ever happened? Seems like nobody should be surprised at this point and just take every estimate as a ballpark figure, not a deadline.

I wonder how badly even Stern misses their deadlines, but because they keep their mouth shut until the game is ready; nobody knows.

If Stern misses a deadline in the woods and there's nobody there.....did they REALLY miss a deadline?

Hopefully the upcoming updates will start to be more visual than text. "Pictures or it isn't happening". And as far as who should get their games first I vote for the guys that have been on Wayne's list since 2006. Regardless of which trim they picked. Everyone is crapping about a 6 month delay but there are folks that will have waited 8 YEARS for this beast...

Hard to imagine Rick is extending you voting rights at this point ...

First pictures may be people setting them up in their homes.

Stern has signs up now prohibiting pictures, etc.

If you are referring to my interactions with Rick and his project, he thought enough of me to use my list of questions as the basis for his published FAQ list. And a lot of useful information was learned by all with that. It is possible to be a fan of what someone is doing and still have critical or technical questions about how they are doing it, a point that seems to be lost sometimes on the interwebs.

If you are referring to my history with Wayne and his project please point out anything I ever said in that which wasn't proven 100% true in the end. Critics did not derail that effort, Wayne's lack of a pinball factory (outside of the sign he hammered up) killed that. Assembly lines and the workers that run them are not glamorous, they are expensive to setup and maintain, and contrary to the beliefs of the fanboys of 2006 they are never invisible...

Very true my friend. But that is always referring to unauthorized pictures. They routinely allow (and publish themselves) authorized pictures on the factory floor. It was cool enough to see Gary Stern standing in front of one MM on the line, how cool would it be to see 20 of them lined up?

#1860 9 years ago

Question, but when you get to "Battle For The Kingdom"... How many hits on the gate do you need before it opens ?

I don't think you derailed anyone's project. But you've expressed numerous criticisms of the PPS MMr (they may well all have been justified, but I imagine you'd agree you've been one of the more vocal Pinsiders in terms of expressing concerns about MMr, e.g. flipper strength). And I think I'm remembering correctly that you're not in on this preorder. So with that, it's hard to imagine Rick extending you a vote on the order he decides to ship games in. That's all.

But by all means shoot him an email, prove me wrong and make everyone that stayed in since the dawn of time extremely happy! Your ship order proposal sounds as fair as any to me.

I just realized why my MMRLE #6 of 1000 is even cooler / way more coincidental than I realized.... Not only is it going to be my 6th pin in my collection, but the #6 seems to have some significance in the Medieval Madness world.

I just realized In order to reach "Battle for the Kingdom" you must complete "six tasks", These "six" tasks are, from top to bottom:

Master of Trolls
Defender of Damsels
Patron of the Peasants
Catapult Ace
Joust Champion
Castle Crusher

In addition to that you have: To get the "Castle Crusher" light, you must destroy the "6 Castles" of the King of Payne and All The King's Men:

Sir Howard Hurtz
Francois de Grimm
the Earl of Ego
the Duke of Bourbon
Sir Psycho
& King of Payne

Also hit the Drawbridge N times to lower it (1 for the first, "6" for the King)

After "6 shots" during Battle for the Kingdom...
, the white Battle for the Kingdom light will flash. Hit the Gate once more for another 5M. The gate will raise, and the red arrow toward the Main Entrance will flash.

Also for what it's worth the Castle Multiball is started with shots to the Lock in the Castle. For the first multiball, 3 shots are required; for successive multiballs, "6 shots" are required.

It has been awhile since I've done it but I think it was either 10, or 1 shot for each of the blue lights on the playfield. I can't remember which it was since it has been years since I last did it.

Can you pick up a machine for me in MN ???

I think seven hits... one to extinguish each of the blue lamps, and a final one for the BFTK insert.

Do you honestly think Rick is extending anyone a vote in this matter?

I wonder if Rick himself gets a vote, or if CGC simplay told him "first come the golds, then the blacks..." The guy running the floor is not going to want anything complicating assembly... would prefer to make a batch of one color, slap S/N and game numbers on them as appropriate and ship 'em.

Just from the recent threads we know there are at least 2 Pinsiders that converted their Wayne order over to a Rick order. Honestly it was kind of shocking to me that anyone was still hanging on this long. Personally I think those people should have gotten their games for the original price quoted but it certainly wasn't up to Rick to do that. I'm just glad they are finally about to be rewarded for their patience.

I have been undeniably interested in the technical aspects of this product. I have stayed out of a lot of the drama (coinmechgate, market devaluation of remakes, the 1200 posts devoted to powercoat color, etc), but the new OS and drive system does interest me. Will it be better than the original? Or worse? We will all soon know which is exciting.

Exactly ... very much like a launching a rocket ship, most of the production control has shifted to mission control Chicago (CGC/Stern) ...

One can certainly pray that SS not be last Since this is a remake and the original was SS...

Can you guess what color I ordered

LOL. If SS was the first color, I would switch to SS. I would prefer to be on the 'don't care just send it to me' list.

What was that, like a year ago you contacted me and told me you had a River Boat you would sell me because I mentioned on a thread I was looking for one? After weeks of going back and forth and waiting for pics, I finally gave up and then months later you contact me about it again and still don't send me pics or a reply?
As much as I want a River Boat pinball machine, I don't think it is worth being strung along for months just to come up empty by someone that contacted me about it in the first place.
Good day sir!

As someone who was a potential party to the transaction that (may) have included one or more of the pins involved I was disappointed in the stringing along without commitment as well.

I got to play it today and it plays sweet. Wicked fast with lots of airballs. The game is pitched steep for the tourney tomorrow and the flippers are still plenty strong enough to make the ramps despite being on default settings. I didn't play long and didn't try any fancy moves, but my initial impression is that I get why Roger Sharpe gave his approval. The game plays as it should, like a brand new MM. Hope lots of folks show up tomorrow to play it.

Yes I played the one @Logans in Chicago and was very impressed how it played the flippers were very strong and snappy just like a NIB Bally/Williams, the light show was amazing and the shaker motor was done perfect when you hit the trolls and the castle gate it's awesome, just wish I was in on one!

I sent you pics months ago to the email you gave me. I thought $400 for a very nice River Boat that would go to someone who would enjoy it was quite fair. This is the first mention I've seen of it since.

I have no idea what you are talking about - I don't recall or see any PMs from you regarding any transaction or even interest in any of my games. If I missed any, I'm sorry, but I certainly didn't make any commitment of a pin or pins to you.

It's sad that more people worry about me rather than what the spokesman for MMR says and does. I just don't get it. But, I no longer have a horse in the MMR race. Since people apparently approve/condone/are happy with Rick's updates/non-answers, all that's left now is confirmation that production of anything other than sample games is underway or that games are shipping to real customers.

I know. It's pretty clear that some see it that way. Doesn't bother me.

(Really don't get the meddling part though - can't see how anything I've done has impacted the production of MMR or Rick's ability to provide substantive information or straight answers to reasonable questions. I'm sure he loves that many would rather focus on what I say than what he does)

#1894 9 years ago

Discussion has deviated from topic and devolved to name calling.

I switched to silver to get a later game. Want to make sure game not light weight or wobbly when properly set up.

#1895 9 years ago

Due to multiple reports on this thread, this is just a reminder to please play nice. Keep the thread on topic, personal discussion should be taken to PMs. Discussion is great, disagreeing with someone is perfectly fine, and personal attacks are not allowed. Any direct personal attacks from here on out will result in a temporary thread eject.

Personally I saw all 3 versions when they were set up at IAAPA. It was the first time I had seen any MM in person other than glancing at one for a few minutes in a showroom a few years ago, and they looked great. I prefered the silver myself, but dont have the funds or space so I'm not a buyer anyway. I did play a game and it played nice and fast. I hope everyone gets theirs soon and enjoys it.

#1896 9 years ago

I was pointing this merely as matter of fact and not as a complaint.

Actually the thread is far more interesting with deviation from topic and the personal attacks..
