I have an original MM. It came with coin mechs and was thousands of dollars cheaper. I never used them, but I sleep well at night knowing they are there.

Now lets move onto other things.

The original MM comes with lock-down bar hasps installed. I didn't see this on the list of things MMr has different, so are they installed or is this another omission worthy of 20 threads and thousands of posts?

Yes, this post is dripping with sarcasm. I'm not sure who is worse. People who can't afford an MMr and want to piddle on other's post-toasties or those who can afford an $8K toy and feel they didn't get enough butt kissing from the concierge.

It's an upgrade from watching the grass grow or paint dry.........

Apples and oranges. You can watch paint dry, grass growing on the other hand.....

I think its fun to argue because coin mechs literally costs less than $10 and rick refuses to budge on giving them out for free.

You're math is pretty jacked. It's $10 for 1,000 people. So, last time I checked, that's $10,000 not $10.

If $10,000 isn't a big deal to you consider yourself lucky.

$8000 x 1000 MAKES THAT NUMBER SEEM REALLY SMALL

it's a freaking $10 coin mech, suck it up.

Something DID happen. Did you hear? No coin mechs.

$8050 for the real LE with coin mechs?

#1611 9 years ago

Of the 1000 (+/-) MMr's that will be sold how many will be on location using coin mechs? Maybe 100 max. So why put coin mechs in the other 900 that will never be used outside someones game room???? It makes absolutely no sense.

If you're that cheap then.....

#1615 9 years ago

I have personally never purchased a machine....new or old....that has coin mechs installed.

#1616 9 years ago

I love how people are throwing these crazy coin mech prices around, when PPS made it clear that they are offering them for $7.00 each... Even if you assumed it was going to come with 2 ($14) you are still getting 99.825% of the value you thought you were getting for your $8000... If $14 means that much to you, you really have no business spending $8000 on a luxury good in the first place... Move on already

If I buy a NIB from the Stern distributor in Australia, it comes with NO coin mech, whether its a $7200 Pro or a $10500 LE. Never heard any complaints. Most operators have their own stock of mechs that they just swap in or out as they buy/sell.

#1619 9 years ago
#1620 9 years ago

You forgot to account for the percentage of games going out in the wild that will be on token play and have their mechs replaced anyway. Also, you forgot to account for all the operators that change out the standard mechs for higher quality ones, or for any other reason which is just about all of them.

It could very well be 20 people who actually care. The only person I see actually using the mechs are home owners who want to run quarters through their games to make it feel more arcade-y. I know those guys exist, but there can't be more than a handful of them.

It's at least 50% guys who aren't ever going to run a quarter through it and just want to complain.

The MMR is shipping without playfield glass.
You don't need it to play.
If it's loud, just turn up the sound.
Since so few will ever be in the wild, you don't need glass for in the home use.
If you're an operator, you probably already have sheets of glass laying around, just put 1 in.
This reduces broken glass issues, makes it easier to access, clean & mod your game.
Since so many people may want an Invisiglass quality glass, why put a standard quality sheet of glass in the game, just to have it removed and be tossed/wasted.
And don't forget how expensive it is for PPS to put playfield glass in 1000 machines.
If you really want glass just buy a sheet on your own, based on the quality of glass you prefer.
This is a fully functioning MMR.

Why doesn't Rick /Chicago Gaming just install the blank doors like CG did with Vacation America?

It's pretty obvious to me that MMr is a mid-2015 product; best case.
Enjoy your wait guys.

Uhhhhhh based on what? UL is done and production is starting in about 2 weeks.

Based on his ability to troll a thread.

Really? So - we're still doing this? More willful ignorance from people who know what coin-mechs are and refuse to have an intellectually honest discussion about them.

VA is a home-only game. Hence, no coin SLOTS on the door...no ability to route the machine.

MMr is a coin-op game and comes with a standard Happ coin door that is easily fitted with mechs of your preference & region's currency. If it had a blank door, then anyone who wanted to operate the game would have to install an entirely different coin door.

#1637 9 years ago

If I needed coin mechs, I'd spend the $14 like everyone else. And I don't, so I won't.

Quoted from o-din:

Rick should at least give pezpunk and jalpert free coin mechs.

Feeding time!

Trolling... yeah I guess; but the reality is I won't be surprised if we don't see production shipments until mid-2014.

It has been awhile since I have opened this thread. I'm a bit surprised we are still going over the coin mech issue.

So, the games are going to be manufactured starting in two weeks? Shipping starting in January?

#1645 9 years ago

The term 'coin mech' is almost becoming as annoying as 'Lionman'

Quoted from dluth:

Speaking of threads I haven't visited in awhile...

At this point, this coin mech issue has been a known deal for awhile...or at least it seems that way. Has anyone with money actually in the game right now asked to be let out due the coin mech issue and been told no? I could see someone in that position being massively unhappy, but everyone else?

Quoted from TigerLaw:

Well, it's only pinside...

Is there a locked MMr thread with updates only, as for Predator or other games? I would definitively read it.

Quoted from jlm33:

I'll check. I believe there is. There is a fan thread, members only, where zero negativity about the game is allowed. I'm surprised Rick does not just use that thread for updates when he comes here.

Also out of those 100 (+/-) how many will stay in the USA?

I got coin mechs for my WOZ, about much use as a chocolate tea pot to me!

While I can take or leave the coin mechs, this is certainly a compelling argument.
