I just finished the USS Saratoga and gave it to my dad for Veterans day. He was aboard it in yhe late 60's. I trimmed off the molded solid railings and replaced with photoetch. Also the radars and guides.
So far I only do ships just to keep it limited or else I would be buying up everything at the store.

Quoted from xsvtoys:

Went to a big yard/estate sale recently, this guy had >1500 model kits and >1500 HO train pieces. A few pics:

A friend wanted "German tanks" if they had them. They had them. This is part of his stash:

I got 17 plane models for myself. Some of them had Eduard photoetch kits inside as well.
I also got this nice air compressor for $100. It is used but seems to work fine. I can't believe it is as quiet as it is, I had a clunky loud one before.

Also a few new or hardly used air brushes.

Also got a lot of HO RR stuff. Some of this stuff was built, and the work is amazing, as apparently he was a retired Hollywood model builder. But he sure liked to collect more than build!

Thats heaven. I'm afraid to ask, what did they go for a piece?

Quoted from ralphs007:

I'm looking for something to do to kill some time. I haven't put a model together since I was a kid. So I'm pretty much a beginner.
I'd like to know if this model of the Titanic is too hard for a beginner.
Thanks in advance

Its not too difficult but the higher end version of the Titanic which means more detailed pieces to put together. I put together the smaller version in collage and still have it in my office. Dont use testors tube glue. Use Jet adhesive or Extreme Power medium thickness from hobby lobby when they open.

That is cool seeing it working. Glad you stuck your hand in for scale. Do you have any plans for it to do any work?

Someday I hope to ride on a steam engine for the same reason. They are getting pretty scarce.

Just finished Santa's Sleigh. Large scale monogram model I am going to use as a pinball topper for Corvette. I added lights and flocked the interior carpeting.

HO scale of the Rabbit Hash General store not far from here. If you around NKY I recommend stopping by and say hello to the locals.
