The Bally chime bars from their EM games are made out of a lighter metal material which sound "tinny" as compared with Bally Solid state chime games which use heavy metal bars and have a much richer and tuned sound. Bally seemed to care more about thier Solid state EM chime games sound than their EM games. I've compared my rebuilt chimes on Bow and Arrow and Captain Fantastic vs my restored chimes on Eight Ball, Mata Hari and Power Play. The solid state version chimes have a much better sound than the EM ones. Also remeber with all of these Bally chime units to just finger tighten with a socket so you don't crush the brass eyelet spacer. You just want these barely snug not gorilla tight.
Oh, and I've tried subbing in the chime bars from a Mata Hari to a Bow and Arrow and the holes don't line up. They are not compatible at all unfortunately.
Hope that helps!

PS: (Nothing after-rings better than a freshly rebuilt Bally SS chime game)
Quoted from Arcade:Great question. But they are.
Did not have time to record anything today. Hopefully tomorrow.
When the 10's and the 100's chime together the sound is enough to make your entire body cringe.
We have probably owned over 20 EM's and I have never had a problem like this one.
