Skated back in the 80's, and back then Variflex was all my friends and I could afford. Had a sweet Voodoo II board. Well, sweet for a Variflex. We made the best of it Decided to get back into skating again after all these years and man, I lost almost all that balance. It's like completely learning over again. The good part of that is I'm forcing myself to skate goofy instead of mongo which was how I learned. Got an 8.75 Lucero deck with Indy's and 52 Bones ATF's for more grip. Love it. Soo comfortable having a larger deck vs the smaller 7.75 board which seem to be more popular.

Was at the local skate shop, Sidewalk Surfer, and saw that Vision re-released their old school boards in a new concave form. Yup, could not resist, finally got the Vision Gator board I wanted back in 6th grade, complete with 66 Slimeballs which are the grippiest wheels I have ever experienced. Having trouble learning to Ollie the larger board, but watching all the old skate videos on YouTube, I KNOW it's possible, just going to take some time. My goal is to get on a mini half pipe and rock that, I'll pass on stairs Honestly just enjoying riding around at the moment.

The pic attached is with 60 Slimeballs but since upped to the 66's.

Here is a pic of me back in the day 1986 half pipe in my backyard, top of the ramp was about 7ft tall

That's an awesome pic man! Hardcore

1986 Streetstyle competition in Tempe, AZ... I lived right across the freeway from Diablo stadium where this was filmed, but never saw any cool skate competitions Some of the tricks are really tame compared to today's standards, but still fun to watch. I like the guy's move at 6:25 in this video, relatively simple but looks cool And check out those Vision Street Wear shoes! Ollie pads! hahaha...

Was watching one of the recent street style competitions in Oslo and saw some guy representing with the no-comply's! Blew my mind to see a guy no-comply onto a 50-50 railslide. I wanted to buy him a beer.

50-50s over the spine are a blast
finally feeling comfy on that ramp and started getting some good lines
oh and BS early grabs are so much fun

post some ramp videos!

First board I ever grip taped myself. Can you tell I'm a pinhead?

I broke down and bought those fancy kingfoam insoles...
and they are amazing. I want them for all my shoes.

Never heard of those, thanks for sharing. I know once I tried superfeet inserts in my jogging shoes I never went back on those. Must try the kingfoam insoles for my skate shoes now.

Have you see him?...

Finally getting better at skating goofy here. I may have to hop a few times here and there, but definitely getting better.

I've got three decks, one with 54's, one with 60's, and one with 66's, and definitely loving the 66's the most. It may be a little harder to Ollie with the bigger spacer and wheels making the board come up more before the tail hits, but the gain in how far you go per push is totally worth it.

Anyone ever skate Independent trucks? Are they good??

Ive actually never skated anything but Indy's. They're not the lightest, but they're heavy duty and will last almost forever.

You mean there are trucks other than Indy's?!?! hahaha

Cool to see someone else who had a Variflex in the 80’s. The pro boards were completely out of my price range haha. I had a Variflex Voodoo II board with a witch doctor rocking the half pipe.
